Breckenbrough School

Sandhutton is a small village and civil parish in Hambleton District of North Yorkshire, England. It lies about 3 miles (5 km) west of Thirsk on the A167. It has been referred to as Hutton, Hutton (Sand), and Sand Hutton. The name derives from Old English sand-hōh-tūn which translates as a sharply projecting piece of sandy ground with an enclosure, farmstead or village upon it.East of the village, on the road to Carlton Miniott, is the Sand Hutton Cross which is now a listed monument. The cross marked the point at which three parishes met and is designated due to the fact that it has survived despite intensive arable farming in the area.In 2017, a 45-acre (18 ha) solar farm was installed to the east of the village. The scheme involved the placing of 20,000 photovoltaic panels that would generate up to 5 MW and would have a life expectancy of 25 years.Sandhutton is the location of Breckenbrough School, an independent special school.

Newsham with Breckenbrough is a civil parish in the Hambleton district of North Yorkshire, England and lies on the A167. The population of the parish at the 2011 census was 128.The parish has two Grade II* listed buildings – the West Lodge to Thornton Stud and its gateway.Anne of Denmark with Prince Henry and Princess Elizabeth stayed at Breckenbrough Castle on 10 June 1603 as guests of Thomas Lascelles while on their way to London. The castle has been demolished and only earthworks remain. In 1618 there were two brick towers with a hall between, with two wings from the towers forming a courtyard.

The Breckenbrough Hoard is a hoard of gold and silver coins dating from 1644, during the English Civil War. It is in the collection of the Yorkshire Museum.

According to the 2001 census it had a population of 926, increasing to 990 at the 2011 census.

Royal Air Force Skipton-on-Swale or more simply RAF Skipton-on-Swale is a former Royal Air Force station operated by RAF Bomber Command during the Second World War. The station was located at Skipton-on-Swale 4 miles (6.4 km) west of Thirsk (near the present-day junction of the A61 and A167), North Yorkshire, England. The village of Sandhutton is located just to the east. RAF Skipton-on-Swale was a sub-station of RAF Leeming.

The name Wiske is derived from an Old English word wisca meaning a water meadow. Thirsk railway station is on the East Coast Main Line and serves the market town of Thirsk, North Yorkshire, England. It is 210 miles 56 chains (339.1 km) down the line from London King's Cross and is situated between York to the south and Northallerton to the north. Its three-letter station code is THI. The station is about 1.5 miles (2 km) outside of Thirsk town centre and is actually on the edge of the village of Carlton Miniott. There are four tracks, but only the outer two have platforms; the platform faces serving the innermost pair of tracks were removed in the 1970s in preparation for higher-speed main line running using InterCity 125 trains. The station is operated by TransPennine Express. Other train services are provided by the open-access operator Grand Central.
