Royal Air Force Skipton-on-Swale or more simply RAF Skipton-on-Swale is a former Royal Air Force station operated by RAF Bomber Command during the Second World War. The station was located at Skipton-on-Swale 4 miles (6.4 km) west of Thirsk (near the present-day junction of the A61 and A167), North Yorkshire, England. The village of Sandhutton is located just to the east. RAF Skipton-on-Swale was a sub-station of RAF Leeming.

Sandhutton is a small village and civil parish in Hambleton District of North Yorkshire, England. It lies about 3 miles (5 km) west of Thirsk on the A167. It has been referred to as Hutton, Hutton (Sand), and Sand Hutton. The name derives from Old English sand-hōh-tūn which translates as a sharply projecting piece of sandy ground with an enclosure, farmstead or village upon it.East of the village, on the road to Carlton Miniott, is the Sand Hutton Cross which is now a listed monument. The cross marked the point at which three parishes met and is designated due to the fact that it has survived despite intensive arable farming in the area.In 2017, a 45-acre (18 ha) solar farm was installed to the east of the village. The scheme involved the placing of 20,000 photovoltaic panels that would generate up to 5 MW and would have a life expectancy of 25 years.Sandhutton is the location of Breckenbrough School, an independent special school.

Queen Mary's School is a private day and boarding school for girls in Baldersby Park near Topcliffe, between Ripon and Thirsk in North Yorkshire, England. Established in 1921, the school is set on 50 acres (200,000 m2) of landscaped grounds and houses approximately 300 pupils. It caters to girls aged 3 to 16 and boys up to age 7. The school is a member of the Woodard Corporation and attended the 200th anniversary of the birth of the movement's founder in 2011. In 2015 the school celebrated its 90th anniversary.

Skipton-on-Swale is a small village and civil parish in the Hambleton district of North Yorkshire, England. The population at the 2011 Census was less than 100. Details are included in the civil parish of Catton, North Yorkshire. It lies on the A61 road, about 4 miles west of Thirsk on the east bank of the River Swale.

The Old Parsonage is a historic building in Baldersby St James, a village in North Yorkshire, in England. The house was commissioned by William Dawnay, 7th Viscount Downe, and designed by William Butterfield. It was completed in 1854. The Church Times later described the building as "Gothic architecture... used to express a link with the church... the size of the parsonage reveals the prestige of the parson who inhabited it". It was Grade II* listed in 1971. In 2022, the house was sold for around £1,750,000. The house is in stone and has a half-hipped tile roof. There are two storeys and an irregular plan. On the entrance front is a slightly projecting gabled wing containing a doorway with a pointed arch, and a window with Geometric tracery. The other ground floor windows are sashes with mullions and ogee and trefoil-headed lights. In the left return is a canted bay window, above which is timber framing and a dormer in a half-hipped gable. Original features include servants' bells. The house has around two acres of grounds, and an indoor swimming pool.

Royal Air Force Topcliffe or RAF Topcliffe (ICAO: EGXZ) is a Royal Air Force station in North Yorkshire, England. It was established as a RAF Bomber Command station in 1940. The British Army took over a large part of the site in 1974 and the airfield became an enclave within Alanbrooke Barracks. The last remaining RAF unit is No. 645 Volunteer Gliding Squadron which operates the Grob Viking T.1 glider.

The Church of St James is a Church of England parish church in Baldersby St James, North Yorkshire. This Victorian church is a Grade I listed building and was designed by William Butterfield.

Baldersby St James Primary School is a former school in Baldersby St James, a village in North Yorkshire, in England. The school was commissioned by William Dawnay, 7th Viscount Downe, and designed by William Butterfield. It was completed in 1854, along with an attached schoolhouse. It operated as a primary school until 2022, when it had only 22 pupils. At the time, it was run by the Hope Sentamu Learning Trust, which decided to close it, given that pupil numbers were projected to further decline. The school was placed on the market for £550,000, for community use. The school and schoolhouse were jointly grade II* listed in 1971. Both the school and house are in stone. The school has a roof of Westmorland slate, and on the house is a tile roof. The school has an L-shaped plan containing two rooms, and a gabled timber-framed porch. In the left gable end of the main hall are two two-light windows, and on the roof are flues in the form of truncated pyramids. The house has a single storey and an attic, and five bays. In the centre is a wooden porch with bargeboards, the flanking windows are three-light sashes with mullions, and above are two-light mullioned windows in half-hipped dormers. Inside is the original wooden staircase, with an open wooden screen at its foot. The boundary wall and gates are Grade II listed.

Baldersby St James is a village in the former Harrogate district of North Yorkshire, England. Several notable buildings in the village were commissioned by Viscount Downe of Baldersby Park and designed by William Butterfield in the 1850s. The Church of St James and its lychgate are both Grade I listed and the old vicarage, the school and the school house are all Grade II* listed.
