Kelmscott School is a secondary comprehensive school in Walthamstow, East London, England. The school has approximately 900 pupils aged 11–16. In 2008 the school underwent an £11.2m refurbishment as part of the Building Schools for the Future program. The current headteacher is Mr Sam Jones. Kelmscott is a co-educational community school for pupils aged 11 to 17. All aspects of the school including ‘pupil achievement’, ‘behaviour’ and ‘quality of teaching’ were deemed to be very good at their last Ofsted inspection. The school's most recent Ofsted Inspection in January 2020 describes Kelmscott "continues to be a Good school" category.

The Walthamstow Pumphouse Museum is a museum based in Walthamstow, north-east London, it is contained in and around Low Hall Pumping Station, a Grade II listed building that was originally a sewage pumping station built in 1885. The museum focuses on the pioneering achievements in road, rail, air and sea transport in Waltham Forest and the surrounding area from the early 19th century. The museum displays various artifacts, including AEC Routemaster buses, a pair of Marshall C class steam engines, and various fire fighting vehicles. Also included in the museum's collection is a decommissioned London Underground 1967 Stock Victoria line carriage that is frequently used as a film set, concert venue for Underground Lunchtime Recitals and as a supper club three nights per week.

The Heritage and Communities Trust is a charity based in Walthamstow, in the London Borough of Waltham Forest. It is the parent organisation of two museums; Markfield Beam Engine and Museum, and Walthamstow Pumphouse Museum. Both museums were previously independent, but merged in 2025. The trust is based in Walthamstow. As yet, the Trust does not have a website.

St. James Street is a railway station on the Chingford branch of the Lea Valley lines, located in Walthamstow in the London Borough of Waltham Forest, east London. It is 5 miles 55 chains (9.2 km) down the line from London Liverpool Street and is situated between Clapton and Walthamstow Central. It has been operated by London Overground since 2015. The station is in Travelcard Zone 3.

Walthamstow Market, in the London Borough of Waltham Forest, is the longest (though not the largest) outdoor market in Europe. It occupies all but the last 100 metres (330 ft) of Walthamstow's High Street. It is reputed to be a mile long, but in fact measures approximately one kilometre.

Walthamstow Queen's Road railway station is a London Overground station between Blackhorse Road and Leyton Midland Road stations on the Gospel Oak to Barking Line, 8 miles 7 chains (13.0 km) down the line from Gospel Oak. It is in Zone 3. It opened as "Walthamstow" on 9 July 1894 and was renamed on 6 May 1968 under British Rail. The station stands on Edinburgh Road (not Queens Road) facing Walthamstow (Queens Road) Cemetery. There is step-free access from the street to both platforms. The station is about 330 yards (300 m) from Walthamstow Central station and there is a direct footpath link between the two stations via a new exit onto Exeter Road. The footpath link, which opened in August 2014, is called Ray Dudley Way in commemoration of a local man who campaigned for the link for many years.The station is served by a train every 15 minutes in both directions throughout the day, though from June 2016 until February 2017 the service was suspended (with a rail-replacement bus in operation) whilst the line underwent major rebuilding work associated with electrification.

Black Path is an ancient route between markets in London. It runs from Walthamstow to Hackney, passing Broadway Market, Columbia Road and Smithfield.The path is also known as the Templars’ Path and the Porters’ Way. The route is in use today for cycling and walking.

The Church of St Barnabas and St James the Greater, Walthamstow, is an Edwardian era Church of England parish church in Walthamstow, East London. It is a Grade II* listed building.

Walthamstow Power Station was a power station operating in London until 1967.

The London Borough of Waltham Forest () is a London borough in north-east London, England. Its population is estimated to be 276,983 in 2019. It borders five other London boroughs: Enfield to the north-west, Haringey to the west, Hackney to the south-west, Newham to the south-east and Redbridge to the east, as well as the non-metropolitan county of Essex to the north. The borough was formed in 1965 from the merger of the municipal boroughs of Leyton, Walthamstow and Chingford; it took its name from Waltham Forest – an institution which managed deer in south-west Essex. Epping Forest is a remainder of the former Waltham Forest and forms the eastern and northern fringe of the borough. The River Lea lies to the west where its associated marshes and parkland form a green corridor which, along the reservoir-lined reaches, separates north and east London, and is the historic border between Middlesex, and Essex The north and south of the borough, split by the North Circular Road, contrast markedly in terms of demographic and socio-economic indicators; with urban districts in the south having inner-city characteristics, and the more affluent suburban areas to the north having better access to open spaces, parks, and playing fields. Chingford in the north, Walthamstow in the middle, and both Leyton and Leytonstone in the south are the four urban centres of the borough. Waltham Forest was one of the host boroughs of the London Olympics in 2012, with the Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre and part of the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park providing an ongoing legacy in the UK and London.
