Lidcombe is a suburb in western Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. Lidcombe is located 15 km (9.32 mi) west of the Sydney central business district, in the local government area of Cumberland Council, with a small industrial part in the north in the City of Parramatta. People from Lidcombe are colloquially known as Lidcombers or Lidcombiens. Lidcombe is located west of Rookwood Cemetery, the largest cemetery in the Southern Hemisphere.

Lidcombe railway station is located on the Main Suburban line, serving the Sydney suburb of Lidcombe. It is served by Sydney Trains T1 Western, T2 Inner West & Leppington, T3 Bankstown and T7 Olympic line services.

Rookwood was a railway station on Sydney's Main Suburban railway line, which served the Rookwood Cemetery. The station was located between the bridge over Arthur street and the westernmost junction of the Flemington rail yard. It consisted of two single faced platforms, one on the up suburban line and the other on the down suburban line. The adjacent stations were Lidcombe and Flemington.

The Cemetery Station No. 1 was a railway station on the Rookwood Cemetery railway line in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. The station operated between 1867 and 1948 and served the Rookwood Cemetery. The building was designed by NSW Government Architect James Barnet.

Lidcombe Oval is a playing field and velodrome in the Western Sydney suburb of Lidcombe. It is part of Wyatt Park. It is situated in the Western side of Church Street, on the northern side of the railway line. The outfield has a capacity of more than 20,000 spectators. The infield is used mainly for football matches of various codes. The velodrome hosts track cycling events and has been the home of Lidcombe-Auburn Cycle Club since 1947, and Neo Cycling Club since 2015.

The Flemington Maintenance Depot is the largest Sydney Trains depot, located in the western Sydney suburb of Lidcombe, but named after Flemington further east. The depot opened in 1927 and was one of four electric train depots built under the Bradfield electrification plan, the other depots being at Mortdale, Hornsby and Punchbowl. The depot features 20 storage roads, 10 of which are under the main shed, a lift shop, wheel lathe and a train washing facility. The depot has rail connections to all tracks of the Main Suburban Line, as well as the Sydney Freight Network. Road access for deliveries is off Bachell Avenue, Lidcombe. A staff-only stuttle bus, operated by CDC, operates between the depot and Lidcombe station. The depot maintains the K sets and NSW TrainLink's V sets. It was also responsible for the S sets and C sets before they were withdrawn. Sets maintained by Flemington carry a blue target plate. A variety of other trains are also stabled here, as it is a crew depot and stabling location for Sector 2 (T2/3/5/7 lines) services. NSW TrainLink Endeavours and XPTs occasionally visit to use the wheel lathe. Until May 1968, it was responsible for maintaining the long-distance HUB, RUB and stainless steel carriages. Until March 1971, it also maintained the DEB sets. All were transferred to ACDEP.

Rookwood is a suburb in western Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia located 14 kilometres (8.7 mi) west of the Sydney central business district, in the local government area of the Cumberland Council. It is the easternmost suburb in greater western Sydney. Rookwood Cemetery is the largest cemetery in the Southern Hemisphere.

Liberty Plains Parish is one of the 57 parishes of Cumberland County, New South Wales, a cadastral unit for use on land titles. It is bounded by Parramatta Road in the north; the boundary between Flemington and Homebush, a small part of Cooks River and Liverpool Road (Hume Highway) in the east; the Hume Highway also in the south; and Woodville Road in the west. It includes the suburbs of Homebush West (Flemington), part of Strathfield, Auburn, Regents Park, Potts Hill, Sefton, Chester Hill, Bass Hill and Lidcombe. It also includes the Rookwood Cemetery. Before the parish was proclaimed in 1835, the Liberty Plains district was in the same area. The name had been given when the first settlers had desired a settlement midway between Parramatta and Sydney city. The name is still used on a motor inn in the area. In the 1851 census there were 49 houses and 270 people in the Liberty Plains parish.

The Offset Alpine fire was a 1993 fire that destroyed a Sydney printing plant owned by the company Offset Alpine Printing Ltd. Investigations of the incident by the police and by the Australian Securities & Investments Commission spanned over ten years, amid suspicions that the printing plant was burnt down as part of an insurance fraud. It also gained attention because of the high profile of individuals involved.

Rookwood Cemetery (officially named Rookwood Necropolis) is a heritage-listed cemetery in Rookwood, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. It is the largest necropolis in the Southern Hemisphere and is the world's largest remaining operating cemetery from the Victorian era. It is close to Lidcombe railway station about 17 kilometres (11 mi) west of the Sydney central business district. It was added to the New South Wales State Heritage Register on 2 April 1999.

Auburn Hospital is a 155-bed community hospital in Auburn, a western suburb of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. It provides basic 24-hour emergency facilities, as well as a medical, surgical, paediatrics, and maternity facilities as well as coronary care and intensive care facilities. This facility is part of the Western Sydney Local Health District (WSLHD). Auburn Hospital is health facility on the eastern border of Sydney West Area Health Service. Auburn Health claims to be an Australian Council of Health Care Standards (ACHS) accredited organisation.As of 2010, Auburn Hospital is a teaching hospital for the University of Notre Dame Sydney School of Medicine.

Lidcombe Shopping Centre is a shopping centre in the suburb of Lidcombe in Greater Western Sydney.
