Rookwood, New South Wales

Rookwood Cemetery (officially named Rookwood Necropolis) is a heritage-listed cemetery in Rookwood, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. It is the largest necropolis in the Southern Hemisphere and is the world's largest remaining operating cemetery from the Victorian era. It is close to Lidcombe railway station about 17 kilometres (11 mi) west of the Sydney central business district. It was added to the New South Wales State Heritage Register on 2 April 1999.

Cemetery Station No. 4 was a railway station on Sydney's Rookwood Cemetery railway line. It served the Rookwood Cemetery.

The Cemetery Station No. 1 was a railway station on the Rookwood Cemetery railway line in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. The station operated between 1867 and 1948 and served the Rookwood Cemetery. The building was designed by NSW Government Architect James Barnet.

Rookwood was a railway station on Sydney's Main Suburban railway line, which served the Rookwood Cemetery. The station was located between the bridge over Arthur street and the westernmost junction of the Flemington rail yard. It consisted of two single faced platforms, one on the up suburban line and the other on the down suburban line. The adjacent stations were Lidcombe and Flemington.

The Flemington Maintenance Depot is the largest Sydney Trains depot, located in the western Sydney suburb of Lidcombe, but named after Flemington further east. The depot opened in 1927 and was one of four electric train depots built under the Bradfield electrification plan, the other depots being at Mortdale, Hornsby and Punchbowl. The depot features 20 storage roads, 10 of which are under the main shed, a lift shop, wheel lathe and a train washing facility. The depot has rail connections to all tracks of the Main Suburban Line, as well as the Sydney Freight Network. Road access for deliveries is off Bachell Avenue, Lidcombe. A staff-only stuttle bus, operated by CDC, operates between the depot and Lidcombe station. The depot maintains the K sets and NSW TrainLink's V sets. It was also responsible for the S sets and C sets before they were withdrawn. Sets maintained by Flemington carry a blue target plate. A variety of other trains are also stabled here, as it is a crew depot and stabling location for Sector 2 (T2/3/5/7 lines) services. NSW TrainLink Endeavours and XPTs occasionally visit to use the wheel lathe. Until May 1968, it was responsible for maintaining the long-distance HUB, RUB and stainless steel carriages. Until March 1971, it also maintained the DEB sets. All were transferred to ACDEP.

Lidcombe is a suburb in western Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. Lidcombe is located 15 km (9.32 mi) west of the Sydney central business district, in the local government area of Cumberland Council, with a small industrial part in the north in the City of Parramatta. People from Lidcombe are colloquially known as Lidcombers or Lidcombiens. Lidcombe is located west of Rookwood Cemetery, the largest cemetery in the Southern Hemisphere.

Lidcombe railway station is located on the Main Suburban line, serving the Sydney suburb of Lidcombe. It is served by Sydney Trains T1 Western, T2 Inner West & Leppington, T3 Bankstown and T7 Olympic line services.

Pippita railway station was a railway station on the former Abattoirs line in Sydney, New South Wales. The station opened on 4 October 1940 and closed on 20 October 1995. The Olympic Park line, which extends over the former Abattoirs branch, connects to the network on the Main South line at the site of the former station.Passenger services on the Abattoirs line were operated by CPH railmotors operating from Sandown via Lidcombe until November 1984. After this, Pippita (now as the terminus) was served by single-deck suburban electric trains known as "Red Rattlers". Pippita continued to be served by a sole daily service to Central until 20 October 1995, operated in its later days by a V set.Pippita station served the Commonwealth Aircraft Corporation factory located in Lidcombe. Access the site of the former station was restricted following the Auburn Council sale of Pippita Street to Dairy Farmers. Since 2015, community groups such as the Sydney Alliance, EcoTransit Sydney, and Restore Inner West Line proposed the reconstruction of Pippita station as part of a new express service between Lidcombe and Central.

Lidcombe Hospital Precinct is a heritage-listed former hospital and home for the aged, now converted to private housing, located at Joseph Street, Lidcombe, Cumberland Council, New South Wales, Australia. It was designed by James Barnet, Walter Liberty Vernon, Cobden Parkes and Ken Woolley and built from 1885 by the Government of New South Wales. It is also known as Rookwood Asylum for the Aged and Infirm; Rookwood State Hospital and Asylum for Men; Lidcombe State Hospital & Home; Rookwood Boys Reformatory & Model Farm. The property is now owned by Australand Industrial No. 18 Pty Limited and the Sydney Olympic Park Authority. It was added to the New South Wales State Heritage Register on 24 February 2006.

Homebush West or Flemington is a suburb in the Inner West of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. Homebush West is located 13 kilometres west of the Sydney central business district, in the local government area of the Municipality of Strathfield, with a small unpopulated area in Cumberland Council. The suburb is commonly referred to as Flemington, even in official contexts. This was the old official name of the suburb before the establishment of Sydney Markets in 1975. Subsequently, "Flemington" would become a district confined to the area occupied by the markets, whereas the suburb proper was renamed "Homebush West", after the suburb of Homebush to the east. Both the railway station and various organisations and businesses in the suburb still carry the name "Flemington", as do most residents still refer to the suburb by this name.
