Defu Industrial Park is an industrial estate, a subzone of Hougang in the northeast region of Singapore, located at the fringe of Hougang New Town. Defu will be expanded to two million square metres (sq m) of industrial space for various industries.

Tua Jia Ka, alternatively spelled Tua Jia Kar, is a commemorative replica of a former well in the Somapah Serangoon Village, which was also known as Tua Jia Ka. It is situated in Kovan, Singapore, and occupies the former site of the village.

The Haji Yusoff Mosque (Malay: Masjid Haji Yusoff) is a mosque located in Hillside Drive, off Upper Serangoon Road, Singapore. It is a Wakaf type of mosque.This redeveloped mosque is located in the Northeast part of the island was first built in 1896. It underwent redevelopment in 1995 and can now accommodate up to 400 people. Some of its activities include madrasah classes and religious lectures for adults.

The Tou Mu Kung Temple 斗母宮 is a Taoist temple situated on Upper Serangoon Road, Singapore. Worshipping the Empress Registrar of Birth or Doumu (斗母) and Nine Emperor (九皇大帝) Deities, the temple has both Taoist and Buddhist influences. There are other temples dedicated to Tou Mu (Dou Mu) in many parts of China (e.g. on Mount Tai).

Hougang Bus Depot is an SBS Transit West District bus depot located in Hougang, Singapore. As of November 2014, the total fleet is 600 buses. Hougang Bus Depot started operations in 1984 when the north-east which is Hougang and Serangoon was developed and previously, all operations had been on Ang Mo Kio Bus Depot and Bedok Bus Depot respectively.

Paya Lebar is a planning area located in the East Region of Singapore, bordered by Hougang to the west, Sengkang to the northwest, Tampines to the east, Bedok to the south and Pasir Ris to the north. As part of the Singapore Urban Redevelopment Authority's (URA) Master Plan 2014, Paya Lebar Central was identified as one of the five growth areas. It was since earmarked as an up-and-coming commercial hub, in line with the wider decentralisation strategy to ensure the city's sustainable growth. Paya Lebar participates in the pilot Business Improvement District (BID) programme.

Heartland Mall (Chinese: 心邻坊) is a shopping mall in Singapore. A relatively small shopping mall in comparison with other malls, it serves the neighbourhood of Kovan. It consists of four floors without a basement, and the fourth level occupied only by tuition centres. The parking spaces are only available in front of the mall area, in an open public carpark. The neighbourhood mall is located at Block 205 Hougang Street 21, just next to Kovan MRT station. The mall is situated in an area known as Kovan City (Chinese: 高文城) which used to be Hougang Town Centre, but the town centre was shifted to Hougang Central when neighbourhoods sprung up further north.

The Hillside World Academy (formerly the Chinese International School) is a K–12 international school running the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum from Nursery to Grade 12 levels. The Primary Years Programme, the Middle Years Programme and the Diploma Programme are all represented in the school.

Kovan MRT station is an underground Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) station on the North East line (NEL) in Hougang, Singapore. Located underneath Upper Serangoon Road, the station serves the retail development of Heartland Mall and surrounding public and private residences. First announced in March 1996, the station commenced operations on 20 June 2003. Its construction required multiple diversions of Upper Serangoon Road. Like all stations on the NEL, Kovan station is operated by SBS Transit. The station features an artwork The Trade-off by Eng Tow as part of the network's Art-in-Transit programme.

Bartley MRT station is an underground Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) station on the Stage 3 of the Circle line, located on the boundary of Serangoon and Toa Payoh planning areas, Singapore. Situated along Bartley Road near How Sun Estate, Maris Stella High School and Ramakrishna Mission Singapore, this station serves the residential estate along Serangoon Avenue 1 and the upcoming Bidadari estate.

Bartley Secondary School is a co-educational government secondary school in Singapore. Bartley is known for its Applied Learning Programme (ALP) in Chemical and Applied Sciences (Fragrance), and Learning For Life Programme (LLP) in Community Youth Leadership.
