The Rothley Brook is a left bank tributary of the River Soar in Leicestershire, England.

St Mary & St John is a Church of England parish church in the centre of Rothley, England. It has a congregation of mixed ages and backgrounds. The church aims "to reach out with the good news of Jesus Christ, to be built up as his disciples and to send people out to make God’s love known in the world".

The Stonehill High School was an 11-14 middle school in Birstall Leicestershire which was adjacent to the former Longslade Community College which took most of its pupils. The school was a Technology Specialist school and school converted to academy status in April 2014.

The Cedars Academy is a co-educational secondary school and sixth form located in Birstall in the English county of Leicestershire.

Rothley ( ROHTH-lee) is a village and civil parish within the Borough of Charnwood in Leicestershire, England. Situated around one-half mile (800 metres) west of the River Soar and five miles (eight kilometres) north of Leicester, it had a population of 3,612 inhabitants the 2001 census. The population measured at the 2011 census was 3,897.Rothley centres on two greens, Cross Green and the Town Green, both of which are accessed by a road that leads from the crossroads. The crossroads lies on the old route of the A6 road, which now bypasses the village. Rothley is one of Leicestershire's most affluent areas based on number of houses worth more than £1 million – especially in some streets such as The Ridgeway, identified in the Sunday Times as the most expensive place to live in the East Midlands.Most children of primary schooling age attend Rothley (Church of England) Primary School. The main shopping street in the village is Woodgate. Rothley has four churches, Rothley Baptist Church, the Methodist Church, Sacred Heart RC, and the main parish church St Mary & St John's Church of England. Rothley has close links with its neighbouring village, Mountsorrel, which is two miles (three kilometres) to the north.

Wanlip is a small village and civil parish in the Charnwood district of Leicestershire, with a population measured at 305 at the 2011 census. It is a countryside village, north of Birstall, and west of Watermead Country Park and the River Soar. The A46 road runs directly past the village. Wanlip won the 2008 Leicester and Rutland Best Village Competition for villages with a population under 500.To the south of Wanlip is Wanlip Meadows, a Leicestershire and Rutland Wildlife Trust nature reserve. To the north is a Severn Trent sewage treatment plant, serving a population of more than half a million. The Cedars Academy lies to the south at the edge of Birstall. To the east lies the 14 hectare Reedbed Local Nature Reserve, part of the Watermead Country Park.Wanlip is the site of a 132-metre-high wind turbine which went into operation at the end of 2013.

The River Wreake is a river in Leicestershire, England. It is a tributary of the River Soar. The river between Stapleford Park and Melton Mowbray is known as the River Eye and becomes the Wreake below Melton Mowbray. It flows southwest, passing through Melton Mowbray, Asfordby, Frisby on the Wreake, Brooksby, Thrussington and Ratcliffe on the Wreake, before meeting the Soar near Syston. In its upper reaches it is called the River Eye and it becomes the Wreake below Melton Mowbray, near Sysonby Lodge. The name Wreake was given by Danish invaders of Leicestershire, who are thought to have navigated the River Trent, then the River Soar and finally the Wreake as they entered the district. Their word Wreake indicated that the river followed a tortuous, twisting and turning course. The river was canalised in the late 18th century, though after the building of the Syston and Peterborough railway in the mid 19th Century, the canal was disused and fell into ruin. Many of the diversions made to the river in order to make the canal navigable are still visible, especially in the neighbourhood of Hoby with Rotherby, Frisby on the Wreake, Kirby Bellars and Asfordby. The Wreake is graded by the Environment Agency as "B" quality, which is excellent for a Midlands river. Biotic index surveys report mayfly and stonefly nymphs, caddis fly larvae, dragonfly and damselfly nymphs and crayfish. Among the fish are Perch, Chubb, Pike, Minnows, Miller's Thumb, and Trout. Rothley Temple, or more correctly Rothley Preceptory, (pronounced Rowth-Ley) was a preceptory (a religious establishment operated by certain orders of monastic knights) in the village of Rothley, Leicestershire, England, associated with both the Knights Templar and the Knights Hospitaller. The preceptory's chapel, constructed by the Knights Templar, is currently part of the Rothley Court Hotel.

Cossington Meadows is an 88.9 hectares (220 acres) nature reserve west of Cossington in Leicestershire. It is managed by the Leicestershire and Rutland Wildlife Trust.Flora on this wetland site include flowering rush, purple loosestrife and blue water-speedwell. There are several pools which attract wildfowl, such as gadwall and tufted duck, which breed on the site.There is access from Syston Road.

Thurcaston is a village and former civil parish, now in the parish of Thurcaston and Cropston, in the Charnwood district, in Leicestershire, England. It was the home of Bishop Hugh Latimer. It borders the villages of Anstey and Cropston, as well as the Leicester suburb of Beaumont Leys. The Rothley Brook flows through the village. The A46 Leicester Western Bypass runs close to the village, separating it from Leicester, Birstall, and Beaumont Leys. The village of Thurcaston has existed since at least the 8th century AD, and includes a church and several old houses, along with a very small Methodist Chapel. In general, there are few commercial properties, but there exists a pub, The Wheatsheaf Inn, and an electrical showroom, Tebbatts Electronics. There is a single bus service, the 154 run by Centrebus at a maximum frequency of every hour. The previous service, the 55, was shut down in the late 2000s. Large fields between the Great Central Railway line and the houses of the residents of Leicester Road form a popular place for walking dogs and horses. A planned housing development is currently being discussed with Charnwood Borough council, upon which will see the erection of up to 50 dwellings, community centre and park, including sustainable drainage system with access off Mill Road, the large area of land is to the east off Mill Road.

Wanlip Hall was a large house in Wanlip near the English city of Leicester. It was the ancestral home of the Palmer family. The building was demolished before the Second World War.

Birstall United Football Club is a football club based in Birstall, near Leicester, in Leicestershire, England. The club are currently members of the United Counties League Division One.
