Thurcaston

Beaumont Leys is a suburb and electoral ward in north-western Leicester, in the Leicester district, in the ceremonial county of Leicestershire, England. The population of the ward during the 2021 census was 18,808, rising from 16,480 in the 2011 census. Locally, Beaumont Leys is usually used in reference to the large housing estate, built within the administrative division, centred on Strasbourg Drive.

Thurcaston and Cropston is a civil parish in Leicestershire, England. As its name suggests, it consists of the villages of Thurcaston and Cropston. The parish had a population at the 2001 Census of 2,076, with around 1,200 in Cropston and 800 in Thurcaston. The population of the civil parish was 2,074 at the 2011 census. The villages are separated by the Rothley Brook.

Belgrave and Birstall railway station was a railway station opened by the Great Central Railway in 1899. It served the villages of Belgrave and Birstall in Leicestershire. It closed in 1963. In 1991 Leicester North railway station was opened immediately to the south of Belgrave and Birstall railway station by the preserved Great Central heritage railway. It is representative of the 1960s when the line was under the control of British Railways Midland Region. It is the southern terminus of the railway.

Rothley Temple, or more correctly Rothley Preceptory, (pronounced Rowth-Ley) was a preceptory (a religious establishment operated by certain orders of monastic knights) in the village of Rothley, Leicestershire, England, associated with both the Knights Templar and the Knights Hospitaller. The preceptory's chapel, constructed by the Knights Templar, is currently part of the Rothley Court Hotel.

Rothley Court is a country house at Rothley in Leicestershire, England. It was mentioned in the Domesday Book and later, as Rothley Temple, associated with the Knights Templar. At the Dissolution it became a private house and the seat of the Babington family; Thomas Babington Macaulay was born there in 1800. It now functions as the Rothley Court Hotel.The preceptory's chapel and part of the domestic buildings still exist. Rothley Court incorporates part of the preceptory that was converted for residential use in the 16th century. Much of what can be seen today is from substantial renovation and extension works conducted by John Ely of Manchester, between 1894 and 1895. In 1951, Rothley Court and chapel were protected as Grade I listed buildings.In 1988 Mike Gatting was sacked as England cricket captain after an alleged off-field indiscretion with a barmaid at the hotel.

Beaumont Shopping Centre is in Beaumont Leys, on the edge of Leicester. The 301,099 sq ft (27,973.0 m2) shopping centre is owned by British Land and managed by GVA.

Babington Academy (formerly Babington Community College) is an 11–16 mixed secondary school with academy status in Beaumont Leys, Leicester, Leicestershire, England. It is part of the Learning without Limits Academy Trust.The school relocated to a new building on the same site in September 2014.

Rothley railway station is a heritage railway station on the preserved section of the Great Central Railway's London Extension. Built to the standard island platform pattern of country stations on the line, it originally opened on 15 March 1899 and has been restored to late Edwardian era condition, circa 1910.

The Red Hill filling station on the west of the A6, Loughborough Road, approximately 300 metres (980 ft) north of Red Hill Circle in Birstall near Leicester, became a Grade II listed building in 2012.The petrol filling station is an example of the futuristic "Pegasus" design created by Eliot Noyes for Mobil in the mid-1960s. Noyes may have been inspired by the design by Danish architect Arne Jacobsen for Skovshoved Petrol Station in 1936, German designer Lothar Götz’s new garage in Wiesbaden from the 1950s, and the distinctive forecourt fittings used by AGIP in Italy in the 1960s. The flexible format originally included circular canopies, illuminated from below and supported by tapered central pylons, covering cylindrical steel and black petrol pumps on the garage forecourt, accompanied by a simple brick office, and minimal signage other than the Mobil red Pegasus logo. It was designed to be instantly distinctive and recognisable as a Mobil garage, without distracting signs or poles, and was used on nearly 20,000 new and refurbished filling stations around the world until the 1980s. Changes in ownership meant that eventually many were operated by petrol companies other than Mobil. The six remaining circular canopies at the garage in Leicester, now operated by BP, are thought to be the last surviving examples in the UK.

St Patrick's Church is a Roman Catholic church in the Beaumont Leys area of Leicester. The current church building dates from 1959, built to accommodate Leicester's growing Catholic population, although the parish was first created in 1854. The current church building is in the Romanesque style with three distinctive domes in the nave of the church. A stained glass window depicting St Patrick, the parish patron, stands at the back of the church. The current parish priest is Father Raphael Imoni, who arrived at St Patrick's in September 2018. The church serves St Patrick's Catholic Voluntary Academy and English Martyrs Catholic School.

The Stonehill High School was an 11-14 middle school in Birstall Leicestershire which was adjacent to the former Longslade Community College which took most of its pupils. The school was a Technology Specialist school and school converted to academy status in April 2014.

The Cedars Academy is a co-educational secondary school and sixth form located in Birstall in the English county of Leicestershire.
