Oud-West is a neighborhood of Amsterdam, Netherlands, roughly covering the area between the Overtoom, a major thoroughfare west of the city centre, and the parallel De Clercqstraat, a shopping street. The exact boundaries are the Vondelpark and the Singelgracht, Hugo de Grootgracht and Kostverlorenvaart canals. The neighbourhood consists of two historically and demographically distinct communities: the Overtoombuurt in the south and the Kinkerbuurt in the north. Oud-West was a separate borough of Amsterdam until the 2010 borough reforms, when it merged with the boroughs of Bos en Lommer, De Baarsjes and Westerpark to form the larger borough of Amsterdam-West. As of 2003, the neighbourhood counts 31,741 inhabitants representing 177 nationalities. The area of Oud-West is approximately 1.70 km² large. Main shopping areas are the Kinkerstraat, De Clercqstraat, Jan Pieter Heijestraat, Overtoom, and Eerste Constantijn Huygensstraat. Oud-West is served by tram routes 1, 7 and 17 connecting the centre of the city with the western suburbs via the Overtoom (route 1) and Kinkerstraat (routes 7 and 17), as well as routes 3 and 12 running along the Eerste Constantijn Huygensstraat.

Kinkerbuurt is the neighborhood in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Along with the Overtoombuurt, it is part of the neighborhood of Oud-West in the borough of Amsterdam-West. It was built at the beginning of the twentieth century when Amsterdam was being expanded. Kinkerstraat, the area's main shopping street, was named after Dutch poet and lawyer Johannes Kinker. The borough administration distinguishes several smaller areas within the Kinkerbuurt: the Bellamybuurt, the Van Lennepbuurt and the Da Costabuurt.

The Grachtengordel (known in English as the Canal District) is a neighborhood in Amsterdam, Netherlands located in the Centrum district. The seventeenth-century canals of Amsterdam, located in the center of Amsterdam, were added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in August 2010. The Amsterdam Canal District consists of the area around the city's four main canals: the Singel, the Herengracht, the Keizersgracht, and the Prinsengracht. From the Brouwersgracht, the canals are generally parallel with one another, leading gradually southeast into the Amstel river. Many of the canal houses in the Amsterdam Canal District are from the Dutch Golden Age, 17th century. Many of these buildings, however, underwent restoration or reconstruction in various centuries, meaning that these building display many different architectural styles and facades.

The El Tawheed Mosque is a Sunni mosque in Amsterdam, Netherlands. The foundation that manages the mosque was founded in 1986. The mosque is on Jan Hanzenstraat in the Old-West section of Amsterdam. Aside from its normal function, the mosque is used for social work, and for lessons in the Arabic language. It also houses a book store and a publisher of religious videos and DVDs. The mosque was in-part funded by the Saudi non-governmental organization al-Haramain Foundation.

The Vondel Church (Dutch: Vondelkerk) was a church building located on Vondelstraat in Amsterdam-West. From 1880 to 1977, the building—designed by architect Pierre Cuypers—served as the Church of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus for the Roman Catholic parish of the same name. After its deconsecration, the central nave was used for purposes including concerts, while surrounding spaces were rented out as offices. In a fire in November 1904, the original tower was destroyed. It was rebuilt according to a design by Joseph Cuypers, son of Pierre Cuypers. During the early hours of 1 January 2026, another fire broke out, the tower was destroyed and parts of the building collapsed.

The Vondelpark is a public urban park of 47 hectares (120 acres) in Amsterdam, Netherlands. It is part of the borough of Amsterdam-Zuid and situated west from the Leidseplein and the Museumplein. The park was opened in 1865 and originally named Nieuwe Park (English: New Park), but later renamed Vondelpark, after the 17th-century playwright and poet Joost van den Vondel. The park has around 10 million visitors annually. Within the park is an open-air theatre, a playground and several food service facilities.

The De Clercqstraat is a street in Amsterdam-West, Netherlands. It runs between the Singelgracht and Kostverlorenvaart. The street is named for Willem de Clercq (1795–1844), poet and Christian revivalist. Before construction of the De Clercqstraat at the end of the 19th century, it was the site of a canal, the Lange Bleekerssloot, which was filled in during 1895. The Rozengracht, the extension of De Clercqstraat on the eastern end, was filled in at the same time and a passage towards the Dam, the Raadhuisstraat, was cleared, creating a new axial road connecting the city centre with the newer districts towards the West.

The Blauwe Theehuis ("Blue Tea House") is a 1930s Modernist pavilion in the Vondelpark in Amsterdam, the capital city of the Netherlands. It is a ring-shaped building, somewhat reminiscent of a flying saucer. Originally a tea house, it is in use as a café and restaurant, surrounded by outside seating. The Blauwe Theehuis is also used for theatre performances, festivals, weddings, and other events. The building has rijksmonument (national monument) status. The building was constructed out of concrete, steel and glass. It consists of two circular floors stacked on top of each other, with a circular roof as the third "saucer". The octagonally shaped ground floor is topped by a 12-sided top floor which originally served as residence of the proprietor. A staircase on the outside of the building provides access to the top floor. The roof edges and balustrades and the 12 pillars supporting the top floor are painted blue.

Elisabeth Wolffstraat 2 and Tweede Kostverlorenkade 5 in Amsterdam-West is a building located at the intersection of Elisabeth Wolffstraat and Tweede Kostverlorenkade, along the Kostverlorenvaart canal.

Westermoskee (Dutch pronunciation: [ˌʋɛstərmɔsˈkeː]; Turkish: Ayasofya Camii; English: Western Mosque) is a mosque located in Amsterdam, Netherlands. It is situated on the bank of the canalized river Schinkel in the Chassébuurt in De Baarsjes in the borough of Amsterdam-West. With a floor surface of 800 m2 and a capacity of 1700 people, it is the largest mosque in the Netherlands.
