De Clercqstraat

Elisabeth Wolffstraat 2 and Tweede Kostverlorenkade 5 in Amsterdam-West is a building located at the intersection of Elisabeth Wolffstraat and Tweede Kostverlorenkade, along the Kostverlorenvaart canal.

Oud-West is a neighborhood of Amsterdam, Netherlands, roughly covering the area between the Overtoom, a major thoroughfare west of the city centre, and the parallel De Clercqstraat, a shopping street. The exact boundaries are the Vondelpark and the Singelgracht, Hugo de Grootgracht and Kostverlorenvaart canals. The neighbourhood consists of two historically and demographically distinct communities: the Overtoombuurt in the south and the Kinkerbuurt in the north. Oud-West was a separate borough of Amsterdam until the 2010 borough reforms, when it merged with the boroughs of Bos en Lommer, De Baarsjes and Westerpark to form the larger borough of Amsterdam-West. As of 2003, the neighbourhood counts 31,741 inhabitants representing 177 nationalities. The area of Oud-West is approximately 1.70 km² large. Main shopping areas are the Kinkerstraat, De Clercqstraat, Jan Pieter Heijestraat, Overtoom, and Eerste Constantijn Huygensstraat. Oud-West is served by tram routes 1, 7 and 17 connecting the centre of the city with the western suburbs via the Overtoom (route 1) and Kinkerstraat (routes 7 and 17), as well as routes 3 and 12 running along the Eerste Constantijn Huygensstraat.

Amsterdam-West is a borough (Dutch: stadsdeel) of Amsterdam, Netherlands, to the west of the centre of the city. This borough was formed in 2010 through the merging of four former boroughs Oud West, Westerpark, De Baarsjes and Bos en Lommer.This part of Amsterdam was built roughly between the end of the 19th century and 1960. In 2013, the borough had approximately 142,700 inhabitants. With about 14,000 inhabitants per km2, West is also the most densely populated borough of Amsterdam.

De Otter (Dutch pronunciation: [də ˈʔɔtər]) is a paltrok mill in Amsterdam, North Holland, Netherlands which has been restored to working order. As all Dutch paltrok mills it is a windpowered sawmill. The mill is listed as a Rijksmonument, number 1198.

Kinkerbuurt is the neighborhood in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Along with the Overtoombuurt, it is part of the neighborhood of Oud-West in the borough of Amsterdam-West. It was built at the beginning of the twentieth century when Amsterdam was being expanded. Kinkerstraat, the area's main shopping street, was named after Dutch poet and lawyer Johannes Kinker. The borough administration distinguishes several smaller areas within the Kinkerbuurt: the Bellamybuurt, the Van Lennepbuurt and the Da Costabuurt.

The Grachtengordel (known in English as the Canal District) is a neighborhood in Amsterdam, Netherlands located in the Centrum district. The seventeenth-century canals of Amsterdam, located in the center of Amsterdam, were added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in August 2010. The Amsterdam Canal District consists of the area around the city's four main canals: the Singel, the Herengracht, the Keizersgracht, and the Prinsengracht. From the Brouwersgracht, the canals are generally parallel with one another, leading gradually southeast into the Amstel river. Many of the canal houses in the Amsterdam Canal District are from the Dutch Golden Age, 17th century. Many of these buildings, however, underwent restoration or reconstruction in various centuries, meaning that these building display many different architectural styles and facades.

The El Tawheed Mosque is a Sunni mosque in Amsterdam, Netherlands. The foundation that manages the mosque was founded in 1986. The mosque is on Jan Hanzenstraat in the Old-West section of Amsterdam. Aside from its normal function, the mosque is used for social work, and for lessons in the Arabic language. It also houses a book store and a publisher of religious videos and DVDs. The mosque was in-part funded by the Saudi non-governmental organization al-Haramain Foundation.

Frederik Hendrikbuurt is a neighbourhood in the West district of Amsterdam, Netherlands and is situated between the canals Singelgracht and Kostverlorenvaart. The neighbourhood, known locally by the moniker the "Fred", is centred on the Frederik Hendrikplantsoen park and was planned during the last quarter of the nineteenth century as a confluence of green space and housing meant to be stand apart from the overcrowded Jordaan district. The construction of the neighbourhood was mostly complete by the start of the Second World War (1940). In the tradition of naming high-status areas after prominent figures, the neighbourhood is named after Frederik Hendrik (1584 - 1647); Prince of Orange, Count of Nassau, governor, captain-general and admiral-general of the Dutch Republic. Following this naming convention, prominent streets of the neighbourhood are similarly named after Hendrik's family. Most notable of these is the tree-lined Amaliastraat which takes its name from Hendrik's wife Amalia of Solms-Braunfels, Princess consort of Orange. Between the seventeenth century and the end of the nineteenth century the area was the "Windmill District" or "Sawmill Area". There were many mills for sawing timber, for shipbuilding and housing. The remaining windmill "de Otter", which can still be found along the Kostverlorenvaart. was constructed in 1631 and is listed as a Rijksmonument.

The Blue Violin Player or De Blauwe Vioolspeler (1982) is a metal sculpture located near the Raampoortbrug bridge in Amsterdam Netherlands. It is also called Man Trying to Catch Tram 10 or Man with Violin Case. The identity of the artist is unknown.

The Rozengracht is a street in the Jordaan neighbourhood of Amsterdam. It runs between the Prinsengracht at the Westermarkt and the Singel canal at De Clercqstraat. The name means "Rose canal". The Rozengracht is one of the six former canals in the Jordaan. The reasons for filling in the 17th-century canal in 1890 were poor hygiene from polluted water, and the need for a broad exit road to the new neighborhoods west of the Singel canal. De Clercqstraat was built in 1895 as a westward extension of the Rozengracht. To the east, in the direction of the Dam, the street continues into Raadhuisstraat. Rozenstraat runs parallel to the Rozengracht.

Westermoskee (Dutch pronunciation: [ˌʋɛstərmɔsˈkeː]; Turkish: Ayasofya Camii; English: Western Mosque) is a mosque located in Amsterdam, Netherlands. It is situated on the bank of the canalized river Schinkel in the Chassébuurt in De Baarsjes in the borough of Amsterdam-West. With a floor surface of 800 m2 and a capacity of 1700 people, it is the largest mosque in the Netherlands.
