Cachan (French pronunciation: [kaʃɑ̃] (listen)) is a commune in the southern suburbs of Paris, France. It is located 6.7 km (4.2 mi) from the center of Paris. The prestigious École normale supérieure Paris-Saclay and École Spéciale des Travaux Publics are located there.

The canton of Cachan is an administrative division of the Val-de-Marne department, Île-de-France region, northern France. Its borders were modified at the French canton reorganisation which came into effect in March 2015. Its seat is in Cachan.It consists of the following communes: Arcueil Cachan

The École normale supérieure Paris-Saclay (also ENS Paris-Saclay or Normale Sup' Paris-Saclay), formerly ENS Cachan, is a grande école and a constituent member of Paris-Saclay University. It was established in 1892. It is located in Gif-sur-Yvette within the Essonne department near Paris, Île-de-France, France. ENS Paris-Saclay is one of the most prestigious and selective French grandes écoles. Like all other grandes écoles, this elite higher education institution is not included in the mainstream framework of the French public universities. Along with the École normale supérieure (Paris), ENS Lyon and ENS Rennes, the school belongs to the informal network of French écoles normales supérieures, forming the top level of research and education in the French higher educational system. In 2014, ENS Paris-Saclay became a founding member of the Paris-Saclay University, an initiative to integrate and combine resources from a number of different grandes écoles, public universities, and research institutions. The school moved in 2019 to a new campus located in the commune of Gif-sur-Yvette on the Saclay plateau, France's "Silicon Valley," where it will be near other members of the Paris-Saclay research-intensive and business cluster.

The Sid Ahmed Ghlam case (French: Affaire Sid Ahmed Ghlam) concerns the April 2015 murder of Aurélie Châtelain and planning of an Islamic terrorist attack against a church in Villejuif, France, by an Algerian national, Sid Ahmed Ghlam. In November 2020, he was sentenced to life in prison by a Paris court. This sentence was upheld on appeal in October 2021. Ghlam had made journeys to Syria in October 2014 and February 2015. There, on at least one occasion he had met Abdelhamid Abaaoud, one of the terrorists who perpetrated the November 2015 Paris attacks.

École supérieure d'ingénieurs des travaux de la construction de Paris (ESITC Paris) a French engineering College created in 1992. Through a 5-year course and subjects related to construction, ESITC Paris trains future works engineers who can work both in the field and in management offices. Located in Arcueil, the ESITC Paris is a private higher education institution of general interest recognised by the State. The school is a member of the Union of Independent Grandes Écoles (UGEI).

L'Haÿ-les-Roses (French: [laj.le.ʁoz] (listen)) is a commune in the southern suburbs of Paris, France. It is located 8.5 km (5.3 mi) from the centre of Paris. L'Haÿ-les-Roses is a sous-préfecture of the Val-de-Marne département, being the seat of the Arrondissement of L'Haÿ-les-Roses. L'Haÿ-les-Roses owes the second part of its name to a famous rose garden located there.

Villejuif–Gustave Roussy station is an upcoming underground station on Line 14 and Line 15 of the Paris Métro. It is part of the Grand Paris Express project. The station is located in the town of Villejuif near the Institut Gustave Roussy. The rest of Line 14 opened before the station on 24 June 2024. For the first few months of operation, Villejuif–Gustave Roussy will serve as an emergency exit, but trains will pass through without serving the station. The Line 14 platform is expected to open for service in December 2024 and the Line 15 platform is expected to be put into service with the rest of the line in late 2025.
