Rungis International Market

Chevilly-Larue (French pronunciation: [ʃəviji laʁy] (listen)) is a commune in the southern suburbs of Paris, France. It is located 9.3 km (5.8 mi) from the center of Paris.

The Battle of Chevilly was fought during the siege of Paris. The battle was the second French sortie from Paris against the German armies. On 30 September 1870 General Joseph Vinoy attacked the Prussian VI Corps at Chevilly and was easily repulsed. The Prussian VI Corps commanded by General Von Trumpling repulsed an attempt by the French army from Paris led by General Joseph Vinoy; The French army in the battle suffered greater losses than the Prussian army.General Vinoy - who commanded a corps includes all regular forces finally of France during the war , has conducted an "attack reconnaissance" nonsense on the left bank of the Seine on September 30, 1870: with Twenty thousand men, under the cannons of the fortresses of Bicêtre and Ivry, he proceeded to raid the villages of L'Hay, Chevilly and Thiaïs. Rungis (French pronunciation: [ʁœ̃ʒis] (listen)) is a commune in the southern suburbs of Paris, France, in the département of Val-de-Marne. It is best known as the location of the large wholesale food market serving the Paris metropolitan area and beyond, the Marché d'Intérêt National de Rungis, said to be the largest food market in the world. The name Rungis was recorded for the first time in a royal charter of 1124 as Rungi Villa.

It opened on 24 June 2024 as part of the southern extension of Line 14 from Olympiades to Aéroport d'Orly.

Its name is from the French aviator Jean Mermoz. The school is well known for its aviation books. Published in French, since 2016 the books have also been available in English thanks to a partnership agreement with the École nationale de l'aviation civile (French Civil Aviation University). The first English books were published at the Paris Air Show 2017, in partnership with Airbus. The school has an agreement with the aerospace college IPSA for a double-degree Master of Science in aviation / ATPL.One third of French airline pilots have been trained at Institut Mermoz.

It is proposed that the Paris Métro Line 14 be extended towards the Orly Airport, and the Line 14 will have a stop at Pont de Rungis. The extension is foreseen to open around 2024.
