Presidents North Carolina Gave the Nation

The North Carolina State House was built from 1792 to 1796 as the state capitol for North Carolina. It was located at Union Square in the state capital, Raleigh, in Wake County. The building was extensively renovated in the neoclassical style by William Nichols, the state architect, from 1820 to 1824. On December 24, 1821, the statue of George Washington by Antonio Canova was displayed in the rotunda. Both were destroyed by fire in 1831.

The North Carolina State Capitol is the former seat of the legislature of the U.S. state of North Carolina which housed all of the state's government until 1888. The Supreme Court and State Library moved into a separate building in 1888, and the General Assembly moved into the State Legislative Building in 1963. Today, the governor and his immediate staff occupy offices on the first floor of the Capitol.

The Supreme Court of the State of North Carolina is the state of North Carolina's highest appellate court. Until the creation of the North Carolina Court of Appeals in the 1960s, it was the state's only appellate court. The Supreme Court consists of six associate justices and one chief justice, although the number of justices has varied. The primary function of the Supreme Court is to decide questions of law that have arisen in the lower courts and before state administrative agencies.

The Capitol Area Historic District is a national historic district located at Raleigh, North Carolina. The district encompasses 25 contributing buildings and was developed after 1792. The district includes notable examples of Classical Revival and Late Gothic Revival style architecture. Located in the district are the following separately listed buildings: Agriculture Building, at 2 W. Edenton St. Church of the Good Shepherd at 121 Hillsborough St Christ Episcopal Church, at 120 E. Edenton St. Richard B. Haywood House, at 127 E. Edenton St. Haywood Hall, at 211 New Bern Pl., North Carolina State Capitol, 1 E Edenton St. Raleigh Water Tower, 115 W. Morgan St. State Bank of North Carolina, at 123 New Bern Pl. Sacred Heart Church at 219 W Edenton St. White-Holman House, New Bern Ave. All Saints Chapel, at 110 S. East St.Other notable buildings include the First Baptist Church (1859), Supreme Court and State Library Building (1888), Ruffin Building (1913), Revenue Building (1927), Education Building (1938, 1947), Justice Building (1939-1940), Highway Building (1950), Dr. Andrew Watson Goodwin House, and Montgomery House (1906).It is also one of six Historic Overlay Districts in Raleigh. It was listed in 1978 on the National Register of Historic Places.

Christ Episcopal Church, also known as Christ Church on Capitol Square, is an Episcopal church at 120 East Edenton Street in Raleigh, North Carolina. Built in 1848–53 to a design by Richard Upjohn, it is one of the first Gothic Revival churches in the American South. The church was built for a parish established in 1821; its minister is the Rev. James P. Adams. It was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1987.

The Monument to North Carolina Women of the Confederacy was installed in Raleigh, North Carolina, United States in 1914. It was located in the surrounds of the North Carolina State Capitol, until its removal on June 21, 2020, during the protests following the murder of George Floyd.

The Agriculture Building is a historic state government office building located at Raleigh, Wake County, North Carolina. It was built between 1921 and 1923, and is a five-story, Classical Revival. It is sheathed in warm yellow stone, with massive, ashlar veneer, on the ground floor. An addition was built in the 1950s, giving the building an "L"-shape.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1976. The Agriculture Building is a Raleigh Historic Landmark and located in the Capitol Area Historic District.

A statue of Thomas Ruffin was installed in Raleigh, North Carolina, United States. The memorial was removed in July 2020.

Wells Fargo Capitol Center (formerly Wachovia Capitol Center and First Union Capitol Center) is a 30-story 121.92 m high-rise skyscraper at 150 Fayetteville Street in Raleigh, North Carolina with 544,482 square feet (50,584.0 m2) of space. Completed in 1990, it was one of the downtown Raleigh's two tallest buildings for nearly twenty years, and is currently third tallest.

The North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences (NCMNS) is a museum in Raleigh, North Carolina. The museum is the oldest in the state.The museum is made up of six facilities, divided between five campuses. The newest facility, the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences at Greenville, was announced in 2020 and opened to the public on September 18, 2021. NCMNS is a division of the state Department of Natural and Cultural Resources.

The Richard B. Haywood House, built in 1854, is a historic residence in the Capitol Area Historic District in Raleigh, North Carolina. The house is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and is the last home in the Capitol Area Historic District. The home is still owned by the Haywood family.Dr. Richard B. Haywood opposed North Carolina's secession from the United States during the Civil War, however he served as a surgeon in the North Carolina Militia on the staff of the Surgeon General. Union General William Tecumseh Sherman reached Raleigh after the Confederate defeat at Bentonville, the last major battle of the Carolinas Campaign. On April 13, 1865, Raleigh Mayor William H. Harrison asked Dr. Haywood to serve on a committee of emissaries that surrendered Raleigh to Sherman. The occupying Union forces in Raleigh were under the command of Major General Frank P. Blair, a friend of Dr. Haywood during their attendance at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Blair chose the Richard B. Haywood House as his headquarters during the occupation of Raleigh. Dr. Haywood and Blair hosted Sherman and General Ulysses S. Grant at the house.
