Henry Garner Mansion

Fraser-Hoyer House is a historic home located at West Haverstraw in Rockland County, New York. It was built about 1812 and is a two-story, five bay, rectangular frame dwelling with a hipped roof and stone foundation. It features Federal style details.The house of William Smith had been built previously on this site in 1770.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1976.

Henry M. Peck House was a historic home located at West Haverstraw in Rockland County, New York. It was built about 1865 and is a large two-story, wood-frame dwelling on a stone foundation. It featured an S-curved mansard roof sheathed in slate in the Second Empire style. It also had a central projecting entrance / tower bay and two-story gable-roofed kitchen / servant wing.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2000.It was destroyed by fire on July 3, 2002.

Joshua Hett Smith House (demolished), also known as Treason House, was a historic house in West Haverstraw, New York. It stood on a hill overlooking the King's Ferry at Stony Point, an important crossing of the Hudson River. During the American Revolutionary War, General Benedict Arnold met at the house with British Major John André, while plotting to surrender the fort at West Point. Later, the house had a brief tenure as headquarters for General George Washington.

Helen Hayes Hospital is a 155-bed physical rehabilitation hospital in West Haverstraw, New York, owned and operated by the New York State Department of Health. Established by Dr. Newton Schaffer in 1900 as a physical rehabilitation hospital for children, it is considered to be one of the first freestanding state-operated physical rehabilitation hospitals in the United States. The hospital was renamed in 1974 after celebrated stage and screen actress Helen Hayes MacArthur, who served on the hospital's Board of Visitors for 49 years until her death in 1993. The hospital is a member of the NewYork-Presbyterian Healthcare System. The modern hospital provides rehabilitation on an inpatient and outpatient basis for individuals of all ages with a wide array of disabilities and conditions, including spinal cord injury, stroke, traumatic brain injury, cardiac and pulmonary disorders, amputations, joint replacements, osteoporosis, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, ALS, cerebral palsy and other neurological disorders. The hospital also provides pediatric rehabilitation for children with physical and cognitive disabilities and developmental delays. Helen Hayes Hospital is also home to The Center for Rehabilitation Technology, a center for advanced adaptive technology, and the Smart Apartment, a working replica of a home outfitted with adaptive technology for home life.

West Haverstraw is a village incorporated in 1883 in the town of Haverstraw, Rockland County, New York, United States. It is located northwest of Haverstraw village, east of Thiells, south of the hamlet of Stony Point, and west of the Hudson River. The population was 10,165 at the 2010 census. The majority of the hamlet of Garnerville is contained in the village of West Haverstraw.

Garnerville, previously known as Calicotown, is a hamlet in the town of Haverstraw, Rockland County, New York, United States, located north of New York City; east of Mount Ivy; south of Stony Point and west of West Haverstraw. Most of the hamlet is within the West Haverstraw village, while a small portion of Garnerville defaults to the town of Haverstraw. The hamlet was named after the Garner family, who operated a textile printing industry called Garner Printworks on Minisceongo Creek near Railroad Avenue beginning in 1838. East of where the Garner printworks operated is the abandoned Calico Hill Cemetery. The community is bisected by U.S. Route 202. The Haverstraw town hall is located in the hamlet, along with several small shopping centers and the King's Daughters Library. The schools in Garnerville include North Garnerville Elementary School and St. Gregory Barbarigo Parochial School; the hamlet is part of the North Rockland Central School District. Rockland Community College symbolically recognized David J. Rojas of Garnerville as the "millionth graduate" of the State University of New York (SUNY) at the 46th commencement ceremony held on June 3, 2007.

It is located north of West Haverstraw, east of Harriman State Park, south of Tomkins Cove, and west of the Hudson River. The population was 12,147 at the 2010 census.The community is in the eastern part of the town of Stony Point.

Thiells, known as Thiell's Corner in the 1850s, is a hamlet and census-designated place (CDP) in the town of Haverstraw, Rockland County, New York, United States. It is located north of Mount Ivy, east of Pomona, south of Tomkins Cove, and west of Garnerville. The population was 5,240 as of the 2020 census.During the American Revolution, Thiells was known as Haverstraw Forge, where General "Mad" Anthony Wayne, leading 1,350 Continental Army troops, was able to watch the area of Stony Point.

The Collaberg School (originally known as the Barker School) founded in 1961 was the first 'free school' in the United States based on the model of the Summerhill School in England. The school was located in Stony Point, 30 miles (48 km) from New York City. Collaberg School enrolled between 25 and 50 students from kindergarten through high school in its experimental curriculum. The school closed in 1970 but during its short lifespan was a touchpoint for many of the notable figures of the burst of creative energy that was the 1960s.

The M/V Commander is a historic motor vessel built in 1917 and designed by Beele Wallace Co. of Morehead City, North Carolina, United States. She is homeported at the Haverstraw Marina in West Haverstraw, Rockland County, New York. She is a wooden 275-passenger excursion boat approximately 60 feet in length, 25 feet in breadth (18.3 m × 7.6 m), and weighing 70 tons. MV Commander was built as an excursion boat for service between Rockaway and Brooklyn, New York. She was leased to the United States Navy on 17 September 1917 and commissioned on 3 January 1918. She operated around the New York Navy Yard during World War I to outfit submarine chasers and tow manned observation balloons off the entrances of New York Harbor. The Commander was decommissioned from the Navy on 5 February 1919 and returned to her civilian owner.The M/V Commander spent the next 8 decades with Rockaway Boat Line, one of the longest uninterrupted services in excursion boat history in the United States. She is now operated in the Hudson River Highlands as an excursion vessel. The Commander is the only former U.S. Naval vessel of World War I vintage still operating under her own motor power and in its original condition.She was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.And in late 2019, the boat was listed for sale, and as of early 2020 she has not been sold.

High Tor State Park is a 691-acre (2.80 km2) state park on the north edge of the Town of Clarkstown in Rockland County, New York, United States. The park is located on South Mountain, which has two peaks, High Tor and Little Tor. Its highest peak, High Tor, is 797 feet (243 m) high.
