Ortegal is a comarca in the north of the Galician Province of A Coruña, Spain. It borders the Atlantic Ocean and the Cantabrian Sea to the north, the Province of Lugo to the east, the comarca of O Eume to the south, and comarca of Ferrol to the west. It covers an area of 394.3 sq.km, which accounts for 1.33% of all the land area in Galicia. The overall population of this region was 13,916 at the 2011 census; the latest official 2022 census was 11,466.

Espasante is a fishing port in the Ferrolterra borough of Ortigueira in North-western Spain. From this port, which is near the Ria of Ortigueira and the fishing port of Cariño, trawlers leave to fish for tuna, cod, haddock and other seafood. Fishing port Sport port

Vixia Herbeira, near Santo André de Teixido (municipality of Cedeira) in Galicia (north-west Spain), is one of the highest cliff faces in Europe. It is 621 metres high.

Moeche is a municipality in the province of A Coruña in the autonomous community of Galicia in northwestern Spain. It belongs to the comarca of Ferrol. It is home to a 14th-century castle, in the parish of San Xurxo. It has a square plan, with an 18 m-tall keep.

Creximil is a small village located in San Miguel das Negradas (O Vicedo), in the Sor estuary in Spain.

San Martiño (Saint Martin) is a small island off the north coast of Galician, Spain, at the mouth of the Sor river and the beginning of Ría (estuary) of O Barqueiro. It is formed from a meander of the Sor river. The island belongs to the parish of As Negradas, municipality of O Vicedo.

San Miguel das Negradas (O Vicedo) is one of the parishes of the municipality of O Vicedo in Galicia, Spain. San Miguel das Negradas is on the north-west coast of the province of Lugo, on the border with the municipality of Mañón in the province of A Coruña. The parish includes the island of San Martiño. In 1991 it had a population of 339 inhabitants distributed in the lugares of: San Roque (previously called Santa Mariña), with a chapel of the same name. Includes, apart from San Roque, Crecide, A Gateriza, A Poceira, A Barreira, and A Gándara O Mosteiro — where a monastery existed during the Middle Ages. Unión Deportiva Somozas is a football team based in As Somozas in the autonomous community of Galicia. Founded in 1984, the team plays in Tercera Federación – Group 1. The club's home ground is Pardiñas, which has a capacity of 1,500 spectators.

Punta da Estaca de Bares is the northernmost point of Spain and the Iberian Peninsula, at a latitude of 43° 47′ 38″ North. It is located in Galicia. The peninsula of Estaca de Bares penetrates considerably into the Cantabrian Sea, and as a result it is one of the rainiest places in Europe, with more than 2500 mm a year (a Temperate rain forest). These special weather conditions have created over the centuries a unique ecosystem and biodiversity which have made it possible for this area to be declared an Area of National Natural Interest. The history of Estaca de Bares Point is very rich. The ruins of the Phoenician Salt Fish Factory and the Phoenician Port are open to visitors. There is a lighthouse that was constructed in 1850 and still works to this day, under the administration of the Captain of the Port of Ferrol, Spain. There is also a bird sanctuary, ruins of molinas (grain mills) and abandoned military bases located here. There is currently an abandoned military site there. It was first operated by the US Coast Guard beginning in the early 1960s as a LORAN (Long Range Aid to Navigation) Station. The station at Estaca de Bares operated jointly with stations operated by the British Government in East Blockhouse, Wales and, until 1973, the French Government in Pospoder, France. In 1978, after the Coast Guard ended the LORAN operations, the US Air Force assumed control of the base. The US Air Force 2186 Communications Squadron, headquartered at Torrejón Air Base near Madrid, operated the site as a remote Radio Relay Link (RRL) communications site until 1991, and it now sits in ruins. While the site was open, many Americans met and married local citizens. There are also a series of waterways that used to power mills for the local citizens. These mills are located between the abandoned military base and the bird sanctuary. The other site used to be an old signaling station used by the Spanish Navy. It has been converted into a hotel/restaurant. During World War II a German submarine was sunk off the coast there. One of the German officers who survived the sinking returned every year thereafter to mark the anniversary. After his death he had his ashes scattered over Estaca de Bares.

Estaca de Bares Lighthouse (Spanish: Faro de Estaca de Bares) is an active 19th century lighthouse in Estaca de Bares in the Province of A Coruña, Galicia, Spain. It was built in 1850, and has a 10-metre-high (33 ft) tower.
