Ortegal is a comarca in the north of the Galician Province of A Coruña, Spain. It borders the Atlantic Ocean and the Cantabrian Sea to the north, the Province of Lugo to the east, the comarca of O Eume to the south, and comarca of Ferrol to the west. It covers an area of 394.3 sq.km, which accounts for 1.33% of all the land area in Galicia. The overall population of this region was 13,916 at the 2011 census; the latest official 2022 census was 11,466.

Ortigueira, a seaport and borough in County Ferrolterra (A Coruña) in Galicia, celebrates its patron saint day -Saint Martha of Ortigueira's Day- on 29 July. Held during Saint Martha's day, Ortigueira's Festival of Celtic World (Festival Internacional do Mundo Celta de Ortigueira) is the highlight of the borough's summertime festival calendar. The festival lasts for four days, Thursday to Sunday, and is free.The main stage is located in the port, and it has hosted performances by Celtic music groups of great level and international fame, such as Alan Stivell or The Chieftains, among many others. Since the 2000 edition in the surroundings of the port rises a smaller stage, the Runas stage, where a jury competition is held between new groups. The prize to the winner is the performance in the main stage in the edition of the following year. Free campsites are available on the beach of Morouzos and in the pine grove for people who go to the festival. It is considered a Fiesta of International Tourist Interest and is one of the largest folk festivals in terms of number of attendees from all over Europe, having occasionally surpassed 100,000 attendees per edition.

O Barqueiro (also Port of El Barquero) is a parish and a port belonging to the city council of Mañón in Ferrolterra in North-western Spain in the province of A Coruña, in the autonomous community of Galicia.

Creximil is a small village located in San Miguel das Negradas (O Vicedo), in the Sor estuary in Spain.

San Martiño (Saint Martin) is a small island off the north coast of Galician, Spain, at the mouth of the Sor river and the beginning of Ría (estuary) of O Barqueiro. It is formed from a meander of the Sor river. The island belongs to the parish of As Negradas, municipality of O Vicedo.

San Miguel das Negradas (O Vicedo) is one of the parishes of the municipality of O Vicedo in Galicia, Spain. San Miguel das Negradas is on the north-west coast of the province of Lugo, on the border with the municipality of Mañón in the province of A Coruña. The parish includes the island of San Martiño. In 1991 it had a population of 339 inhabitants distributed in the lugares of: San Roque (previously called Santa Mariña), with a chapel of the same name. Includes, apart from San Roque, Crecide, A Gateriza, A Poceira, A Barreira, and A Gándara O Mosteiro — where a monastery existed during the Middle Ages. Estaca de Bares Lighthouse (Spanish: Faro de Estaca de Bares) is an active 19th century lighthouse in Estaca de Bares in the Province of A Coruña, Galicia, Spain. It was built in 1850, and has a 10-metre-high (33 ft) tower.

Vixia Herbeira, near Santo André de Teixido (municipality of Cedeira) in Galicia (north-west Spain), is one of the highest cliff faces in Europe. It is 621 metres high.

Illa Coelleira, or Colleira (Spanish: Isla Conejera, literal translation: Rabbits' Island), is a small island located in the mouth of the Barqueiro river, off the town of Viveiro, in the Rias Altas coastal region of Galicia, Spain. The island is part of O Vicedo municipality. It is known best as the site of a former monastery, and today houses a lighthouse to aid navigation.

German submarine U-966 was a Type VIIC U-boat of the German Navy (Kriegsmarine) during World War II. She was ordered on 5 June 1941, and was laid down on 1 May 1942 at Blohm & Voss, Hamburg, as yard number 166. She was launched on 14 January 1943 and commissioned under the command of Oberleutnant zur See Eckehard Wolf on 4 March 1943.

Moeche is a municipality in the province of A Coruña in the autonomous community of Galicia in northwestern Spain. It belongs to the comarca of Ferrol. It is home to a 14th-century castle, in the parish of San Xurxo. It has a square plan, with an 18 m-tall keep.
