Bolsterstone

St Mary's Church, Bolsterstone is situated in the village of Bolsterstone, within the boundary of the City of Sheffield in South Yorkshire, England. The church dates from 1879 although there is evidence that a place of worship has existed on the site since the 12th century. It is located 8.1 miles (13 km) north-west of the city centre and is a grade II listed building.

Ewden Valley is a valley in the civil parish of Bradfield in the Stocksbridge and Upper Don electoral ward of Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England.Ewden Village is located between the Moor Hall and Broomhead reservoirs, close to and south of Bolsterstone, within the civil parish of Stocksbridge. Work on the construction of the two reservoirs was started by Sheffield Corporation in 1913. The reservoirs' construction site was served by the now closed Ewden Railway which connected with the Great Central Railway's Woodhead line in Wharncliffe Wood. A timber built village was constructed to house workers working on the Morehall and Broomhead reservoirs. The village was completed in 1929. By 1969 only 15 of over 70 buildings were occupied, and by the 21st century the village was practically abandoned. By 2008 a single worker's cottage remained from the original navvy village.Ewden Beck flows from Broomhead Moor, eastwards, supplying the Broomhead reservoir. Excess outfall flows into the River Don. Ewden Height is a local high point in the region at 375 m (1,230 ft).On the south side of the beck, upstream of the reservoirs and Ewden road bridge are prehistoric earthworks and other remains: there is a Bronze Age cemetery of around 30 round barrows, typically less than 3m diameter and 0.2 to 1 m (7.9 in to 3 ft 3.4 in) high, which are crossed by an earthwork 'Broomhead Dyke', around 1,200 m (3,900 ft) long, running roughly parallel to the beck; there is also a 20 m (66 ft) diameter ring cairn around 100m north of the cemetery.

Broomhead Reservoir is a reservoir located in the Ewden Valley, near Sheffield in South Yorkshire, England. The reservoir is located to the south of Bolsterstone and is linked to the More Hall Reservoir to the east. It covers 50 hectares (120 acres) of land and can hold more than 1,000 million gallons of water.

Stocksbridge High School is a mixed secondary school for 11 to 16-year-olds, in the town of Stocksbridge, South Yorkshire, England. In December 2017 the school gained Academy school status joining Minerva Learning Trust.

Stocksbridge Park Steels Football Club is an English association football club based in Stocksbridge, South Yorkshire. They currently compete in the Northern Premier League Division One East. The club was formed in 1986 after a merger between two clubs, and uses a yellow and blue home kit. They play at the Bracken Moor ground. England international Jamie Vardy and Republic of Ireland international Scott Hogan have played for the team. They initially played in the Northern Counties East League and progressed through the NCEL's divisions before winning promotion to Division One of the Northern Premier League (NPL) in 1996. They reached the Premier Division of the NPL in 2009, but were relegated back to Division One South in 2014. Steels have participated in the FA Cup every year since 1992, reaching the 4th qualifying round in 2003, and first entered the FA Trophy in 1996 after previously participating in the FA Vase.

Stocksbridge is a town and civil parish, in the City of Sheffield, in South Yorkshire, England. Historically part of the West Riding of Yorkshire, it lies just to the east of the Peak District. The town is located in the steep-sided valley of the Little Don River, below the Underbank Reservoir. It blends into the areas of Deepcar, Bolsterstone and the eastern end of Ewden valley around Ewden village, which are also within the civil parish. The population of the civil parish as of the 2011 census was 13,455.

Stocksbridge Town Hall is a municipal building in Manchester Road in Stocksbridge, a town in South Yorkshire in England. The town hall, which was previously the offices and meeting place of Stocksbridge Urban District Council, is now the home of Stocksbridge Town Council as well as other community organisations.

Stocksbridge was a small railway halt, the terminus of, and only railway station on the Stocksbridge Railway. The platform was a simple wooden affair, nothing more was needed to cater for the service provided. The passenger service, which ran from a west facing bay platform at Deepcar, on the Manchester, Sheffield and Lincolnshire Railways Woodhead Line, commenced operation on 14 April 1877 and ceased in 1931. Operation was undertaken by the Stocksbridge Railway Company who bought two small coaches for the trains, utilising their own locomotive. In the main, passengers consisted of workers going to Samuel Fox and Company's works and school children.

More Hall Reservoir is a reservoir located in the Ewden valley near Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England. The reservoir is situated to the south of Bolsterstone and is linked to the Broomhead Reservoir to the west.Carr House Meadows, a local nature reserve borders the reservoir to the south.

Deepcar is a village located on the eastern fringe of the town of Stocksbridge, South Yorkshire, England. It is in the electoral ward of Stocksbridge and Upper Don, 7 miles (11 km) approximately north-west of Sheffield city centre.

Green Moor is a small hamlet in South Yorkshire, England, in the parish of Hunshelf and close to Penistone and Oxspring. Green Moor used to be a stone quarry in the last century but has since become a predominantly commuter and retirement village. Green Moor is also the site of activity centre used by the Sheffield and District Boys' Brigade Battalion.

Wortley was a rural district in the West Riding of Yorkshire from 1894 to 1974, situated to the north-west of the county borough of Sheffield. It was abolished in 1974 under the Local Government Act 1972, with the parishes of Bradfield and Ecclesfield going to the metropolitan borough of Sheffield and the parishes of Tankersley and Wortley going to the Metropolitan Borough of Barnsley.
