Melbourne Central Tower

JOY 94.9 (official call sign 3JOY), stylised as JOY or JOY 94.9, is a community radio station broadcasting at 94.9 FM in Melbourne. It is Australia's first and only LGBTQI+ community radio station.

St Francis' Church on the corner of Lonsdale Street and Elizabeth Street, is the oldest Catholic church in Victoria, Australia. The main body of the church (with various later additions) is one of very few buildings in central Melbourne which was built before the Victorian gold rush of 1851.

Coop's Shot Tower is a shot tower located in the heart of the Melbourne CBD, Australia. It was completed in 1889 and is 50 metres high. The historic building was saved from demolition in 1973 and was incorporated into Melbourne Central complex in 1991 underneath an 84 m-high conical glass roof. Coop's Shot Tower is 9 storeys high, and has 327 steps to the top. The tower produced six tonnes of shot weekly up until 1961, when the demand for the lead shot dwindled, because of new firearm regulations. The tower was operated by the Coops family, who also managed Clifton Hill Shot Tower.A museum called the Shot Tower Museum has been set up inside of the tower at the back of RM Williams and DJI (D1 Store) a tenant in the tower.The tower has been the site of fatalities in 1903 and 1922.The site is listed on the Victorian Heritage Register.

Melbourne Central railway station is an underground station on the electrified railway network in Melbourne, Australia. It is one of five stations (and one of three underground) on the City Loop, which encircles the Melbourne CBD. The station is located under La Trobe Street, between Swanston and Elizabeth Streets, on the northern edge of the central business district (CBD). The station is named after the Melbourne Central Shopping Centre, which it is beneath. It feeds into Melbourne's main metro network station, Flinders Street, and also Southern Cross, Melbourne's main regional terminus. In 2017/2018, it was the third-busiest station on the Melbourne metropolitan rail network, with 15.859 million passenger movements.

Aurora Melbourne Central is a 270.5-metre (887 ft) high residential skyscraper in Melbourne, Australia. It is Melbourne's third-tallest building and the fifth tallest building in Australia. Developed by Malaysian–based UEM Sunrise and designed by Elenberg Fraser, the project was first proposed in 2014, and received approval by then-Planning Minister Matthew Guy in October 2014. Previously named 224-252 La Trobe Street, after the address of the 3,197 m2 (34,410 sq ft) site, the project was later renamed to Aurora Melbourne Central after the natural light display aurora australis, and the shopping centre of the same name.In 2019, when the tower was completed, it was the second-tallest building in Melbourne, at the time behind the Eureka Tower. Aurora will comprise 959 residential apartments and 252 serviced apartments across 86 storeys; as such, it will also be one of the biggest residential buildings in Australia.Construction on the $730 million project commenced in October 2015 by Probuild, and the skyscraper topped-out in late 2018. Completion is expected in 2019.

The Argus Building on the corner of La Trobe and Elizabeth streets in Melbourne, Australia, is notable as the former premises of The Argus newspaper for 30 years (1926–1956). It is classified by the National Trust and is listed on the Victorian Heritage Register. In 2012 it was assessed as one of Australia's top ten endangered heritage buildings. As of October 2016 it is the Melbourne campus of the Melbourne Institute of Technology.

The Argus Centre is a postmodernist highrise office building situated on the corner of La Trobe Street and Elizabeth Street, Melbourne. It was designed by architect Nonda Katsalidis whilst he was a director of AXIA Pty Ltd for client Ryssal Three. The project team consisted of Nonda Katsalidis, Gerard Van Beer, Geoff Cosier, Ric Wood, Philip O’Dwyer, Shmuel Dolev, Leon Moulton and John Iappazutto. The building was constructed between 1991 and 1993 with a contract value of AUS $64 million. The current value of the building is $173.9 million.The Argus Centre is a separate but adjacent building to the Argus Building next to it–which was constructed in 1926 and was the former premises of The Argus newspaper for 30 years (1926 – 1956). It is opposite to Melbourne Central shopping centre and railway station, in the Flagstaff precinct of the North of the Melbourne CBD. The building underwent refurbishment in 2012. The building was originally used as an office and carpark space, which to this day has not changed. The Argus Centre is a significant building in Australian Architecture as it was one of the finest office tower buildings of the time, managing to explore intercepting masses, with precision and decisiveness.

Mitchell House is a six-storey Streamline Moderne art-deco commercial building in Melbourne, Australia. It was designed as a ten-storey building of 132 ft (40 meters), which was the height limit at that time. Out of the ten storeys, six storeys were built.The building is located on the corner of Lonsdale Street and Elizabeth Street. Its exact address is at 352-362 Lonsdale Street. Australian architect Harry Norris planned a ten-storey building, the top four floors of which were never added to the first stage, which was completed in 1937. His client, Thos. Mitchell & Co, manufactured and distributed brushes. The building was classified on 9 July 1987 and added to the Victorian Heritage Database and that of the National Trust.

Elizabeth Street is one of the main streets in the central business district of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, part of the Hoddle Grid laid out in 1837. It is presumed to have been named in honour of governor Richard Bourke's wife.The street is famous as a retail shopping precinct, particularly for motorcycles and cameras. It is also connected with key shopping and tourist destinations such as Bourke Street Mall, Melbourne's GPO, Melbourne Central Shopping Centre, Emporium Melbourne and Queen Victoria Market.

Little Lonsdale Street is located in the centre of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. A part of the Hoddle Grid, it runs roughly east–west. North of Lonsdale Street and south of La Trobe Street, Little Lonsdale Street's eastern end intersects with Spring Street while its western end intersects with Spencer Street. It was named after William Lonsdale, the first administrator and magistrate in Melbourne. Unlike the other little streets, it runs one-way in the easterly direction, not the west. In the nineteenth century, the eastern end of the street ran through a notorious "red light district," known as "Little Lon". It was associated with prostitution, petty crime and "larrikinism."
