Snaresbrook is a district of East London in the London Borough of Redbridge. It is located 8 miles east of Charing Cross. The name derives from a corruption of Sayers brook, a tributary of the River Roding that flows through Wanstead to the East. Snaresbrook is bounded approximately by South Woodford to the north, the lower reaches of Epping Forest and Upper Leytonstone, Leyton and Walthamstow to the west, Leytonstone to the south and Wanstead to the east. Snaresbrook Ward in the London Borough of Redbridge covers most of Wanstead High Street. The ward forms part of the 2007 parliamentary boundary changes and is currently entirely within the parliamentary constituency of Leyton and Wanstead (UK Parliament constituency). Snaresbrook's most notable building is Snaresbrook Crown Court. It was opened in 1843 as the Wanstead Infant Orphan Asylum by King Leopold I of Belgium, and later became the Royal Wanstead School. It was designed by Sir George Gilbert Scott and William Bonython Moffatt.

Forest School is an private day school in Walthamstow in the London borough of Waltham Forest. The school occupies a large campus around its original Grade II listed Georgian and Victorian terraced buildings. The school has more than 1,430 pupils, aged 4 to 18, split equally between boys and girls.

St Peter-in-the-Forest is a 19th-century Church of England parish church in Walthamstow, East London, sited adjacent to a small portion of Epping Forest.

Snaresbrook Crown Court is a historic, Grade II listed building situated in Snaresbrook, an area within the London Borough of Redbridge. It is one of 12 Crown Court centres serving Greater London and is designated as a third-tier court. It is set within 18 acres of grounds and has its own lake, known as Eagle Pond. It operates 20 court rooms and manages 7,000 cases a year, making it the busiest Crown Court centre in the United Kingdom. Construction of the building began in 1841 and finished two years later. It was built in the Jacobean gothic style by the English architects George Gilbert Scott and William Bonython Moffatt, who were prolific designers of workhouses, hospitals and churches. Snaresbrook Crown Court was originally built as an orphanage at the behest of the philanthropist Andrew Reed who named it the Infant Orphanage Asylum; later it became the Royal National Children's Foundation. Under various titles, it remained an orphanage until 1938 when it became the Royal Wanstead School. The building continued as a school until 1971 when it passed into the ownership of British government who converted the building into a crown court at a cost of £1.6m in 1973. The building opened as a crown court on 26 November 1974. Since becoming a court, the building has had various extensions added externally and has received many alterations to its interior. In 1988 an outer annex, not connected to the original building, was built to accommodate further court rooms, to a cost of £3 million. The court is located on Hollybush Hill, and is opposite the junction to High Street, Wanstead. The nearest tube station is Snaresbrook on the Central line.

Snaresbrook is a London Underground station on the Central line, located in the area of Snaresbrook in East London. The station is in Zone 3/4, between Leytonstone and South Woodford stations.

Woodford Hall was a large house in Woodford, Essex, with 50 acres of land adjacent to Epping Forest. In 1707, Sir Richard Child sold the Hall to Christopher Crowe, who sold it to William Hunt in 1728, having obtained a private Act of Parliament. It remained in the Hunt family until 1801, when it was sold to the politician John Maitland.It was built or rebuilt in 1775 by the architect Thomas Leverton. In 1777, it was leased to John Goddard, a Rotterdam merchant, whose widow died there in 1814, after which Maitland moved in, dying there in 1831.William Whitaker Maitland, his son, inherited the property, and leased it to William Cox, and in 1840, to William Morris, father of William Morris the textile designer, poet, and socialist activist, then aged 6. In 1847, his father died unexpectedly, and in 1848, the family moved nearby to the smaller Water House.In 1869 the Woodford Hall estate was sold to British Land for redevelopment, but was used as Mrs. Gladstone's convalescent home until 1900, when it was demolished.In 1902, the Parish Church Memorial Hall was built at the front of the site.

St Mary's Church, Woodford is the ancient parish church for Woodford in east London, on the High Road in what is now South Woodford in the London Borough of Redbridge. It is known to have existed by the 12th century. Its rector in the 1520s was John Larke. Its medieval west tower and spire were in dangerously poor repair by 1705 and in 1708 it was replaced with a brick tower The medieval church was substantially rebuilt in brick in the Gothic style in 1816. Population expansion led to the construction of the new churches of St Paul's in 1854 and All Saints in 1874, both within the parish. Prior to a 1969 arson attack, the interior of St Mary's contained several wall monuments and tombs, including the tomb of Bridget, widow of Alexander Staples and eldest daughter of Sir John Ernle, Chancellor of the Exchequer to Charles II and James II. The current interior is modern. The church is fitted with a 3-manual Grant, Degens and Bradbeer Organ which was built at a similar time to the organ of New College Oxford. The church was completely rebuilt in 1971-72.The churchyard hosts one of the Great Trees of London, a Copper Beech.

Woodford was a local government district in the county of Essex, England from 1873 to 1934, corresponding to the London suburb of Woodford.The parish of Woodford St Mary adopted the Local Government Act 1858 in 1873, setting up a local board of nine members. The Local Government Act 1894 reconstituted its area as an urban district, governed by an urban district council. St Mary's church is a thriving Anglican parish today. It was amalgamated with Wanstead Urban District in 1934 to form Wanstead and Woodford Urban District and now forms the northwestern part of the London Borough of Redbridge in Greater London.

Sukkat Shalom Reform Synagogue, a member of the Movement for Reform Judaism, is a Reform Jewish community based in Wanstead in the London Borough of Redbridge. Its rabbi (since 2008) is Rabbi Larry Becker.The synagogue is housed in the restored Grade II* listed building that had been the chapel of Wanstead Hospital (previously the Merchant Seamen's Orphan's Asylum).

The A104 is an A road which runs from Islington Green in London to Epping in Essex, England.At its southern end, the A104 meets the A1 near Angel London Underground station in Islington. The route passes through Canonbury, Dalston, Hackney, Clapton, Leyton, Woodford and Buckhurst Hill before meeting the A121 at the Wake Arms roundabout. The northern terminus of the route is approximately 2.7 miles (4.3 km) south of St John's Church in Epping town centre, and approximately 1.3 miles (2.1 km) east of the M25 motorway at junction 26.

Wanstead Hospital was a former NHS hospital situated on Hermon Hill in Snaresbrook, not far from Wanstead in north-east London.

South Woodford is an area of East London, England, within the London Borough of Redbridge. It adjoins Woodford Green to the north, Walthamstow to the west, Snaresbrook and Wanstead to the south and Redbridge to the east, and is 8.9 miles (14.3 km) north-east of Charing Cross. Epping Forest runs adjacent to South Woodford in the west of the area.
