The Piloersemaborg (Dutch pronunciation: [piˈlursəmaːˌbɔrɣ]; Borg of Piloersema) is a 17th-century borg (castle) in the village of Den Ham in Groningen in the Netherlands. It currently houses a restaurant.

Zuidhorn (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈzœytɦɔr(ə)n] ; abbreviation: Zh) is a railway station located in Zuidhorn in the Netherlands. The station was opened on 1 June 1866 and is located on the Harlingen–Nieuweschans railway between Leeuwarden and Groningen. The train service is operated by Arriva.

Fransum (Gronings: Fraansum) is an old church hamlet in the municipality of Westerkwartier, Netherlands. The village in the north-east of the country contains an early 13th century Romanesque church, a farm and a house.The hamlet was first mentioned in 1285 as "Frenchem in Hunesgonia", and probably means "settlement of Frank (person)". The explanation "settlement of the Franks" is unlikely due to the k->s shift. Archaeological excavations have discovered artefacts from the 5th until the 8th century in the terp. Also bodies have been discovered which are older than the 13th century church. The church is currently in use for weddings, expositions and concerts due to the excellent acoustics.From Den Ham a narrow road leads to the wierde, with the last part being unpaved. A dodenweg, or 'death road' runs across the wierde from north to south. From Fransum there used to be church paths to Aduard, Altenaauw, Beswerd and Den Ham. Many of these paths disappeared later, but some have been restored as bike paths. Fransum is not a statistical entity, and the postal authorities have placed it under Den Ham. Fransum was home to 166 people in 1840. Nowadays, it consists of three buildings and a dozen farms in the surrounding area.

Herberg Onder de Linden is a restaurant located in Aduard, in the Netherlands. It is a fine dining restaurant that holds a Michelin star rating since 1992. GaultMillau awarded the restaurant 16.0 out of 20 points.The restaurant is in fact a continuation of Le Mérinos d'Or, a former Michelin-starred restaurant in Groningen.Onder de Linden had from the start a Michelin-star. This because head chef Geerhard Slenema could bring the Michelin-star with him from Le Mérinos d'Or. In 1992, the restaurant got a star based on its own merits.Herberg Onder de Linden is a former tavern, built in 1735. Geerhard Slenema and his wife Petra bought the tavern in 1990, after the building had been empty and neglected for three years. They renovated it and renamed the building to the present name.On 7 July 2016 it was announced that Slenema, then 65 years old, wanted to retire. He announced the closure of Herberg Onder de Linden. He also announced the sale of the property to fellow Michelin-starred restaurant In de Molen, that has grown out of its housing in Onderdendam. The new restaurant started on 2 November 2016, retaining its name and star.

Aduard Abbey (Dutch: Abdij van Aduard, Abdij Sint-Bernardus in Aduard) is a former Cistercian abbey in the village of Aduard about 8 kilometres to the north-west of Groningen in the Netherlands, founded in 1192 and dissolved in 1580.

Zuidhorn (Dutch pronunciation: [zœytˈɦɔr(ə)n] ; Gronings: Zuudhörn [zytˈɦœːn]) is a town and former municipality in the northeastern Netherlands. The town largely depends on the city of Groningen. A railway line, operated by Arriva, connects the town with Leeuwarden in Friesland and Groningen. Due to a municipal reorganisation in 1990, Zuidhorn municipality was extended when it merged with, though not physically connected to Oldehove, Grijpskerk and Aduard. On 1 January 2019, the municipality was dissolved and merged into the municipality of Westerkwartier.

Aduard (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈaːdyɑrt]) is a village in the municipality of Westerkwartier, in the Netherlands. It is located about 8 km northwest of Groningen. The history of Aduard dates back to the foundation in 1192 of the Cistercian Aduard Abbey, where famous early Humanists like Rodolphus Agricola and Wessel Gansfort studied and lectured. The centre of the village is dominated by the so-called Abdijkerk (abbey church), one of the last visible remains of the erstwhile prestigious monastery. It is suggested that this building, currently in use by the Protestant congregation, was originally the monastery's infirmary. Until 1990, Aduard was a separate municipality.

Den Horn (Dutch pronunciation: [dɛn ˈɦɔrn]; Gronings: Den Hörn) is a small village in the municipality of Westerkwartier in the province of Groningen in the Netherlands. The village is quite isolated in the east of the municipality, just south of the railway line between Groningen and Leeuwarden. As of 2021, it had a population of 710. East of the village used to be the stopping place Den Horn.

Noordhorn (Gronings: Noordhörn) is a village in the Dutch province of Groningen. It is part of the municipality of Westerkwartier and is separated from Zuidhorn by the van Starkenborghkanaal.

The Hoendiep (Dutch pronunciation: [ɦundip]; Gronings: Houndaip) is a canal in the Dutch province of Groningen, located between the city of Groningen and Zuidhorn. Before 1938, the current section of the Van Starkenborgh Canal from Zuidhorn to the Frisian border was also called Hoendiep. The road on the south side of the Van Starkenborgh Canal is still called Hoendiep. The current canal is 15 km long. The settlements of Groningen, Hoogkerk, De Poffert, Enumatil, Zuidhorn and Briltil are located on the Hoendiep.

Briltil (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈbrɪl.tɪl]; Gronings: (de) Bril) is a village in the municipality of Westerkwartier in the province of Groningen in the Netherlands, founded around 1600. The name of the village comes from a drawbridge (til) over the Hoendiep to the region of the Bril (bril means 'swampy land') northwest of the bridge. As of 2021, Briltil had a population of 490. Since about 2004, the village has consisted of a new housing estate on the east side of the Hoendiep and a small number of historic buildings and a marina on the west side. The village of Zuidhorn is right next to Briltil. The white swing bridge over the Hoendiep is generally called the Briltil, but is actually called Brildraai. The actual Briltil is an older fixed bridge right next to it. This bridge crosses the Schipsloot, which flows into the Hoendiep. The old ferry house at the Brildraai is in use as a restaurant annex village hall.

Enumatil (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈeː.ny.maː.tɪl]; Gronings: Aimtil or IJmentil) is a village in the municipality of Westerkwartier in the province of Groningen in the Netherlands. As of 2021, it had a population of 335. It is located to the south of Briltil and to the west of Den Horn.
