Nyaungbinlay Market

The Kheng Hock Temple, also known as the Kheng Hock Keong (慶福宮), is the largest and oldest temple to the Chinese sea-goddess Mazu in Yangon, Burma. It is located on the corner of Sintodan Street and Strand Road in Latha Township. Kheng Hock Keong is maintained by a Hokkien Chinese clan association. The temple attracts mostly Hokkien and Hakka worshipers, while the other temple in Latha Township, called the Guanyin Gumiao Temple, attracts Cantonese worshipers.

Guanyin Gumiao Temple (Chinese: 觀音古廟; pinyin: Guānyīn Gǔmiào; Jyutping: gun1 jam1 gu2 miu6*2, also known as the Guangdong Guanyin Temple) is one of two major Chinese temples located within Latha Township in Yangon's Chinatown. It was founded by the Cantonese community of Yangon in 1823, but was destroyed by a fire in December 1855, and subsequently rebuilt in 1864, with two additional brick buildings to the side built in 1872. The temple is located on Maha Bandula Road and is dedicated to Guanyin, a Buddhist bodhisattva corresponding to the Burmese Buddhist bodhisattva Avalokiteśvara (လောကနတ်, Lawka Nat).

Long Shan Tang Temple (Chinese: 龍山堂; pinyin: Lóngshān Táng; Pe̍h-ōe-jī: Liông-san-tông) is a Hokkien Chinese clan temple (also called Kongsi) located on Anawrahta Road in Latha Township, part of Yangon's Chinatown. It was founded by members of the Tseng and Khoo clans from Fujian province in 1877. This temple is dedicated for ancestral worship.

Thayettaw (Burmese: သရက်တောကျောင်းတိုက်, also spelt Thayettaw Kyaungtaik) is a complex of over 60 Buddhist monasteries (kyaung) in Yangon, Myanmar (formerly Rangoon, Burma), located in Lanmadaw Township's 9th ward, immediately north of Yangon Chinatown. The monastery occupies a sprawling plot that is bounded by Bogyoke Aung San Road to the north, Anawrahta Road to the south, Phongyi Street to the west, and Myoma School Street to the west. The complex faces Yangon General Hospital and University of Medicine 1, Yangon, the former of which is the largest public hospital in the country. Owing to its proximity to these medical facilities, Thayettaw monasteries also provide de facto social safety net services (housing, meals, etc.) for impoverished patients seeking treatment in the city. The patients generally come from other parts of Lower Myanmar, namely Ayeyarwady Region, Bago Region, Mon State, and Kayin State.

The Yangon General Hospital (YGH, Burmese: ရန်ကုန် ပြည်သူ့ ဆေးရုံကြီး) is a major public hospital in a 14-hectare (35-acre) compound in Yangon, Myanmar. The 2,000-bed hospital consists of seven medical wards, three surgical wards, two trauma and orthopaedic wards, and 28 specialist departments for inpatient care. The hospital also runs an ER for general medicine, general surgery and traumatology.

Theingyi Market (Burmese: သိမ်ကြီးဈေး), formerly Surati Bazaar, is the largest traditional market in downtown Yangon, Myanmar (Burma), spanning Latha and Pabedan Townships. The present-day Theingyi Market complex houses 1,156 wet and dry market shops.

Musmeah Yeshua Synagogue (Hebrew: בית כנסת מצמיח ישועה) is the last remaining Jewish house of worship in Downtown Yangon and Burma's only synagogue. The synagogue stands between Indian paint shops and Muslim traders on a small street near the city centre. A plaque at the entrance of the building states that the present stone building, which was built between 1893 – 1896, replaced an earlier, smaller wooden structure that was erected in 1854. It is one of 188 sites on the Yangon City Development Council’s list of Heritage Buildings. It serves the few remaining Jews of the country, mostly descendants of Baghdadi Jews from Iraq.

Seikkan Township (Burmese: ဆိပ်ကမ်း မြို့နယ်, pronounced [sʰeiʔkáɰ̃ mjo̰nɛ̀]) was a township located in the western part of Yangon, Myanmar. One of the smallest townships, Seikkan consisted of just three wards. It had a primary school and a hospital.Seikkan township was split and merged into Botataung Township and Lanmadaw Township in February 2020.

Botataung Township (Burmese: ဗိုလ်တစ်ထောင် မြို့နယ် [bòtətʰàʊɰ̃ mjo̰nɛ̀]; also Botahtaung Township) is an area of Yangon, Myanmar. Named after the Botahtaung Pagoda, the township consists of ten wards, and shares borders with Pazundaung Township is in the north and the east, Seikkan Township and Yangon River in the south, Kyauktada Township in the west and Mingala Taungnyunt township in the north.The township has five primary schools, two middle schools, six high schools and a university. The township is home to three public and three private hospitals, including East Yangon General Hospital, also called Gandhi Hospital, one of the major hospitals in Yangon. One of the country's two Burmese language dailies Kyemon, is based out of here. (The township used to boast four national dailies--Kyemon, and the now defunct newspapers, The Botathaung and Loketha Pyithu Neizin, the Burmese-language version of the Working People's Daily.) In October 2012, Pearl Land Company won a rental bid from the Myanma Port Authority to redevelop the Botahtaung jetty into a recreation area with hotels.

The University of Nursing, Yangon (Burmese: သူနာပြု တက္ကသိုလ် (ရန်ကုန်) [θùnàpjṵ tɛʔkəθò (jàɰ̃ɡòʊɰ̃)]; formerly The Institute of Nursing, Yangon) is a nursing university, located in Lanmadaw Township, Yangon, Myanmar. It is one of three universities in the country that offers a four-year bachelor's degree program in nursing (i.e. B.N.Sc (Generic)). The UON - Yangon also offers a master's degree program in nursing and diploma programs in dental, EENT, mental health, pediatrics, critical care, and orthopedics. Moreover, there is a two-year B.N.Sc (Bridge) program for in-service nurses who have earned a nursing diploma. The university, which admits only 150 students per year for generic program, is one of the most selective universities in the nation. Nursing is one of few professions in Myanmar that provides decent job opportunities—inside or outside the country. The matriculation marks required for admission in 2013 was 440 out 600, slightly below what was required to go to medical school. For in-service nurses who want to enroll for the B.N.Sc (Bridge) program must have at least two-year service for the government and need to sit selection exam which is usually held in October/November of every year.

Maha Bandula Road (Burmese: မဟာဗန္ဓုလလမ်း, formerly Dalhousie Road) is a major road of southern Yangon, Burma. It is named in honored of The great King Maha Bandula . It crosses the city in a west–east direction and runs parallel to Bogyoke Aung San Road.
