Botataung Township

Seikkan Township (Burmese: ဆိပ်ကမ်း မြို့နယ်, pronounced [sʰeiʔkáɰ̃ mjo̰nɛ̀]) was a township located in the western part of Yangon, Myanmar. One of the smallest townships, Seikkan consisted of just three wards. It had a primary school and a hospital.Seikkan township was split and merged into Botataung Township and Lanmadaw Township in February 2020.

The Kheng Hock Temple, also known as the Kheng Hock Keong (慶福宮), is the largest and oldest temple to the Chinese sea-goddess Mazu in Yangon, Burma. It is located on the corner of Sintodan Street and Strand Road in Latha Township. Kheng Hock Keong is maintained by a Hokkien Chinese clan association. The temple attracts mostly Hokkien and Hakka worshipers, while the other temple in Latha Township, called the Guanyin Gumiao Temple, attracts Cantonese worshipers.

Long Shan Tang Temple (Chinese: 龍山堂; pinyin: Lóngshān Táng; Pe̍h-ōe-jī: Liông-san-tông) is a Hokkien Chinese clan temple (also called Kongsi) located on Anawrahta Road in Latha Township, part of Yangon's Chinatown. It was founded by members of the Tseng and Khoo clans from Fujian province in 1877. This temple is dedicated for ancestral worship.

Musmeah Yeshua Synagogue (Hebrew: בית כנסת מצמיח ישועה) is the last remaining Jewish house of worship in Downtown Yangon and Burma's only synagogue. The synagogue stands between Indian paint shops and Muslim traders on a small street near the city centre. A plaque at the entrance of the building states that the present stone building, which was built between 1893 – 1896, replaced an earlier, smaller wooden structure that was erected in 1854. It is one of 188 sites on the Yangon City Development Council’s list of Heritage Buildings. It serves the few remaining Jews of the country, mostly descendants of Baghdadi Jews from Iraq.

Guanyin Gumiao Temple (Chinese: 觀音古廟; pinyin: Guānyīn Gǔmiào; Jyutping: gun1 jam1 gu2 miu6*2, also known as the Guangdong Guanyin Temple) is one of two major Chinese temples located within Latha Township in Yangon's Chinatown. It was founded by the Cantonese community of Yangon in 1823, but was destroyed by a fire in December 1855, and subsequently rebuilt in 1864, with two additional brick buildings to the side built in 1872. The temple is located on Maha Bandula Road and is dedicated to Guanyin, a Buddhist bodhisattva corresponding to the Burmese Buddhist bodhisattva Avalokiteśvara (လောကနတ်, Lawka Nat).

Maha Bandula Road (Burmese: မဟာဗန္ဓုလလမ်း, formerly Dalhousie Road) is a major road of southern Yangon, Burma. It is named in honored of The great King Maha Bandula . It crosses the city in a west–east direction and runs parallel to Bogyoke Aung San Road. The former Government Press Buildings (Burmese: ဗဟိုပုံနှိပ်စက်ရုံ) is a colonial-era landmark in Yangon, Myanmar (formerly Rangoon, Burma), designated in the Yangon City Heritage List. The building complex is located on the northwest corner of the Secretariat on Theinbyu Road.The low-rise brick complex was designed by Scottish architect John Begg, and built between 1909 and 1912. The complex's main facade features an elegant entrance with Greek columns. During the colonial era, the building was the official distribution center and printing factory for official government publications, including gazettes, journals, news, and textbooks. In the post-colonial era, it became the publishing arm of the Ministry of Information's Government Printing and Stationery Department, employing over 1,300 staff. The broader Government Printing and Stationery Department complex housed the Printing & Publishing Enterprise (ပုံနှပ်ရေးနှင့်စာအုပ်ထုတ်ဝေရေးလုပ်ငန်း) until 2005, when the national government moved ministerial facilities to Naypyidaw. The building later served as the Office for the Minister of Information. This building is still owned by the Ministry which maintains some offices here.

Custom House, Yangon (Burmese: အကောက်ခွန်ဦးစီးဌာန) is a colonial-era landmark in Yangon, Myanmar (formerly Rangoon, Burma), designated in the Yangon City Heritage List. The building, located on Strand Road, facing the port area and its wharfs, continues to house the Burmese custom house. Custom House was designed by Scottish architect John Begg, and built between 1912 and 1916. The building replaced a wooden customs house first constructed in 1853, following the end of the Second Anglo-Burmese War. Throughout the colonial era, the Customs House collected duties and excise taxes from commercial shipping, which represented an important revenue source for the colonial government.The red brick building is noted for its towering bracket clock and columned portico, with architectural adaptations to tropical weather conditions.

The Maha Bandula Park or Maha Bandula Garden (Burmese: မဟာဗန္ဓုလ ပန်းခြံ, pronounced [məhà bàɰ̃dṵla̰ páɰ̃dʑàɰ̃], also spelt Mahabandula or Mahabandoola) is a public park, located in downtown Yangon, Burma. The park is bounded by Maha Bandula Garden Street in the east, Sule Pagoda Road in the west, Konthe Road in the south and Maha Bandula Road in the north, and is surrounded by some of the important buildings in the area such as the Sule Pagoda, the Yangon City Hall and the High Court. The park is named after General Maha Bandula who fought against the British in the First Anglo-Burmese War (1824–1826).

The Sule Pagoda (Burmese: ဆူးလေဘုရား; pronounced [sʰúlè pʰəjá]) is a Burmese Buddhist stupa located in the heart of downtown Yangon, occupying the centre of the city and an important space in contemporary Burmese politics, ideology and geography. According to legend, it was built before the Shwedagon Pagoda during the time of the Buddha, making it more than 2,600 years old. Burmese legend states that the site for the Shwedagon Pagoda was asked to be revealed from an old nat who resided at the place where the Sule Pagoda now stands. The Sule Pagoda has been the focal point of both Yangon and Burmese politics. It has served as a rallying point in the 1988 uprisings, 2007 Saffron Revolution and 2021 Spring Revolution. The pagoda is listed on the Yangon City Heritage List.

Kyauktada Township (Burmese: ကျောက်တံတား မြို့နယ် [tɕaʊʔdədá mjo̰nɛ̀]) is the center of downtown Yangon, Myanmar. The township consists of nine wards, and shares borders with Botataung Township in the east, Seikkan Township and Yangon River in the south, Pabedan Township in the west and Mingala Taungnyunt Township in the north.The township is home to many historic buildings, including the Sule Pagoda, the City Hall, the High Court Building, the Strand Hotel as well as embassies of the UK and India. Three of the tallest buildings in Yangon, the Traders Hotel (now Sule Shangri-La), the Sakura Tower, and the Center Point Tower are located in Kyauktada. Many government offices are headquartered here. Maha Bandula Park across from Sule Pagoda and the city hall is a major recreational area in the downtown area. The township has five primary schools, one middle school and one high school. Many of its school children attend high schools in nearby townships of Botataung and Pabedan.
