Clune Park Primary School

Clune Park Church Of Scotland, Robert Street, Port Glasgow is a disused church in the town of Port Glasgow, Scotland. It is located on the partly abandoned Clune Park Estate and was originally built in 1905 for use by the then-new estate. It was in use for a while until 1997 when it was closed for unknown reasons and left abandoned since. The estate it is on has since declined and is in the process of being possibly regenerated. This means the entire estate would be demolished and rebuilt for social housing under Inverclyde Council's masterplan for the area and this was approved. However, the church would not be demolished due to it being a listed building under category B and is currently for sale.

Clune Park was a football ground in Port Glasgow, Scotland. It was the home ground of Port Glasgow Athletic from 1881 until they folded in 1912, and also of Port Glasgow Athletic Juniors.

Newark Castle is a well-preserved castle sited on the south shore of the estuary of the River Clyde in Port Glasgow, Inverclyde, Scotland, where the firth gradually narrows from the Firth of Clyde and navigation upriver is made difficult by shifting sandbanks. For centuries this location was used to offload seagoing ships, and led to the growth of Port Glasgow close to the castle on either side and to the south. When dredging techniques made the Clyde navigable as far as Glasgow the port became a shipbuilding centre, and the castle was surrounded by shipyards. Ferguson Shipbuilders, the last shipyard on the lower Clyde, stands close to the west of the castle, but the shipyards to the east were removed around the 1980s and new landscaped areas formed to the east of Newark Castle, opening up scenic views of the castle and across the Clyde from a new bypass road.

Bouverie is an area of the town of Port Glasgow, Inverclyde, Scotland. Bouverie was developed in the late nineteenth century as part of Port Glasgow's eastward expansion. Originally consisting of ancillary shipbuilding-related businesses, and workers' housing, it now consists mainly of residential buildings and a handful of small service industries. Including Bouverie Motors, the owner of which bought much of the lands of the disused Gourock Ropeworks mill site. The land banks steeply upward towards the twentieth century housing areas of Whitecroft and Bridgend in upper Port Glasgow, and has impressive views over the River Clyde. Bouverie is situated behind the site of the former Gourock Ropeworks mill, which is now loft apartments, with a retail establishment on the grounds. The street was bombed during the second world war, but contrary to popular local belief, historic maps show that Bouverie never had tenements running the full length of both sides of the street. Boglestone (named after the Bogal Stone) is located around the top of the Clune Brae, Port Glasgow, Inverclyde, Scotland. The area includes housing, but also serves as an important 'hub' for upper Port Glasgow, offering amenities such as education, shopping, health centres, and leisure. The two schools previously situated here were Boglestone Primary a non-denominational school, and St Michael's a Roman Catholic primary School. Due to the local council's education plans, Boglestone Primary was demolished, with pupils temporarily transferred to other schools, including Highholm Primary, located near Port Glasgow town centre. Newark Primary School (opened 2008) now stands on the site. Shops include a Co-op supermarket, newsagents, and bakers, as well as Ladbrokes bookmakers. A health centre, and a community centre that includes a gym, are also situated here. Boglestone shops provide a shopping centre for Boglestone, the only area of upper Port Glasgow to have close access to such a wide variety of retailers. Boglestone Photo Gallery

The Town Buildings, also known as the Municipal Buildings, are in Fore Street, Port Glasgow, Scotland. The structure, which served as the meeting place of Port Glasgow Burgh Council, is a Category A listed building.

Port Glasgow Upper was a railway station serving Port Glasgow, Renfrewshire, Scotland, originally as part of the Greenock and Ayrshire Railway.

Mid Auchinleck is an area in the town of Port Glasgow, Inverclyde, Scotland. Mid Auchinleck was the name of a now disappeared farm located on this site. Mid Auchinleck farm was one of a number of farms (Nether Auchinleck, Laigh Auchinleck, Mid Auchinleck, High Auchinleck and perhaps others) which were the remnant of a small, long gone feifdom of some sort which, probably in the 12th or 13 century, ran from the shore of the Clyde (Nether Auchinleck) inland to the high ground behind Port Glasgow (High Auchinleck). Today, 2022, only High Auchinleck remains. Nothing else is known of this entity. Situated between the housing estates of Slaemuir and Devol. The area consists of many streets all starting with the letter M. e.g. Methil, Milton, Mallaig and Moidart. At present there are no amenities in the immediate vicitinity.

Port Glasgow railway station is on the Inverclyde Line, serving the town of Port Glasgow, Scotland. It is located in the town centre with the main entrance at the junction of Princes Street and John Wood Street. It opened on 31 March 1841, being one of the intermediate stations on the Glasgow, Paisley and Greenock Railway which opened on that date. It later became a junction in 1865, when the branch to Wemyss Bay was opened. The main line was then extended to Gourock in 1889 by the Caledonian Railway. The two lines diverge to the west of the station, with the Wemyss Bay branch now mostly single track all the way to the terminus; the Gourock line is double throughout. Both lines were electrified in 1967 by British Rail using the 25 kV AC system, with the branch partially singled as part of the modernisation work. A (now disused) connection to the former Glasgow and South Western Railway station at Greenock diverged from the branch line a short distance west of the junction. The old station was used for a period (circa 1971–84) as a container terminal but was officially closed in September 1991.There was a bay platform at the west end of the station for services to Wemyss Bay. The platform was located on the south side of the line and is now infilled – prior to electrification, it was used for carriages which were added to (and on return detached from) Wemyss Bay trains.

Port Glasgow (Scottish Gaelic: Port Ghlaschu, pronounced [pʰɔrˠʃt̪ˈɣl̪ˠas̪əxu]) is the second-largest town in the Inverclyde council area of Scotland. The population according to the 1991 census for Port Glasgow was 19,426 persons and in the 2001 census was 16,617 persons. The most recent census in 2011 states that the population has declined to 15,414. It is located immediately to the east of Greenock and was previously a burgh in the county of Renfrewshire. Originally a fishing hamlet named Newark, Port Glasgow came about as a result of large ships being unable to navigate the shallow and meandering River Clyde to the centre of the city of Glasgow. As a result, it was formed as a remote port for Glasgow in 1668 and became known as 'New Port Glasgow', which was shortened to 'Port Glasgow' in 1775. Port Glasgow was home to dry docks and shipbuilding beginning in 1780. The town grew from the central area of the present town and thus many of the town's historic buildings and people are found here. Port Glasgow expanded up the steep hills inland to open fields where areas such as Park Farm, Boglestone, Slaemuir and Devol were founded. This area has subsequently become known as upper Port Glasgow and most of the town's population occupies these areas.

Woodhall railway station serves the eastern part of the town of Port Glasgow in Inverclyde, Scotland. The station is sited in the Woodhall area and is 19 miles (31 km) west of Glasgow Central on the Inverclyde Line. Woodhall station is staffed only on Monday to Saturday in the daytime.

Bardrainney is a neighbourhood of Port Glasgow, in the Inverclyde district of Scotland. Bardrainney, possibly from the Gaelic for "hill of thorns", is (post 2000) a housing area, dating from the 1950s and built by the local council, on the hills above Port Glasgow, just to the south of the A761 road to Kilmacolm. The area is called after the farm of that name whose fields the houses occupy. The farm buildings no longer exist, but they were roughly on the site of the house of Alexander Dalzell, factor to the Earls of Glencairn, on the highest spot in the area in the open space at the top end of the present Moss Road, and they may have co-existed with the house.
