Hoogkerk is a town in the Dutch province of Groningen. It is located in the municipality of Groningen, about 4 km west of the city. Hoogkerk was a separate municipality until 1969, when it was merged with the city of Groningen.

Leegkerk (Dutch: [ˌlexˈkɛr(ə)k]) is a small village in the municipality of Groningen in the Dutch province of Groningen with 65 inhabitants. It is located east of the city of Groningen, and north of the village of Hoogkerk. The church of Leegkerk, built in the first half of the 13th century, is located here. Unconventionally, the church and surrounding buildings, a former parsonage and sacristy school, are located outside of the village's main core, which is located more eastern and currently grown against the Groningen residential area of Gravenburg.

Peizermade is a hamlet in the Netherlands and is part of the Noordenveld municipality in Drenthe.

Matsloot is a hamlet in the Netherlands, and is divided over the municipalities Groningen in province Groningen, and Noordenveld in Drenthe. Matsloot is not a statistical entity, but does have its own postal code. It has about 10 houses in Noordenveld and one in Groningen. It was first mentioned in 1781 as "De mat sloot" and means "the ditch near the meadow". In 1840, it was home to 61 people. During the construction of the A7 motorway, the hamlet was split in two, and the motorway became between the new border between Groningen and Drenthe.

Dorkwerd is a small village in Groningen, the Netherlands. It is located in the municipality of Groningen, about 4 km northwest of the city center. Recent construction of new residential areas have brought the city to less than 500 meters from the village of Dorkwerd, and the postal authorities have placed it under Groningen.According to the 19th-century historian A.J. van der Aa, Dorkwerd (also written Dorkwert, Dorquert) consisted of 19 houses, with a population of almost 140. Most of the village was in the municipality of Hoogkerk, west of the Reitdiep canal, but two houses belonging to the village were east of the canal in Adorp. There was a small village school here, built in 1832.

The International Business School Groningen is the business school of the Hanze University Groningen in Groningen, Netherlands. The International Business and Management Studies (IBMS) Programme of the Hanze University of Applied Sciences, Groningen, founded in 1988, is the one of the oldest International Business Schools in the Netherlands. Hanze University of Applied Sciences, Groningen (Hanze UAS, Dutch: Hanzehogeschool Groningen) is the largest technical & vocational university in the northern Netherlands and is located in Groningen. Hanze UAS offers various Bachelor and Master programmes in Dutch, English, and German, and works closely with international partner institutes. The school counts approximately 28,000 students and 3,200 employees. About, 8,1% of students are international.

The Stadspark (City Park) is an urban public park in Groningen, The Netherlands. Inspired by the City Beautiful movement, in 1909 a local businessman founded an association in order to collect funds for a public park in the city. Construction of the park started in 1913 and was completed in 1926. Within the park an arboretum and a petting zoo can be found. There was a horse racing venue, but this has been closed in 2021 to allow for more concerts to be organised in the park.

The Kapteyn Astronomical Institute is the department of astronomy of the University of Groningen in the Netherlands. The institute is named after its founder, Jacobus Cornelius Kapteyn, who lived from 1851 to 1922. Jacobus Kapteyn was appointed professor of astronomy and theoretical mechanics in 1878 at a time when no astronomical tradition, let alone an observatory, existed in Groningen. Kapteyn's first "Astronomical Laboratory" was opened in 1896. In 1913, after various relocations, the laboratory moved to the Broerstraat, near the Academiegebouw in the center of the city. In 1970, the institute relocated to a new building on the campus site to the north of the city. Since 1983, the Kapteyn Astronomical Institute has been located at its present position in the Zernike building, where it shares a building with the Low Energy Astrophysics division of SRON. The research pursued by the institute's astronomers includes asteroids, planetary formation, stars, galaxies and cosmology. From 1965 until 1995, an observatory —also named after Kapteyn— (Dutch: Kapteyn Sterrenwacht) was operated near the town of Roden, some 20 km Southwest of Groningen. The buildings still exist, but are no longer in use as an observatory, nor as an astronomical workshop.

Woldzigt (Drèents for 'view of the woods') is a smock mill in Roderwolde, Drenthe, the Netherlands. The mill has two functions; a grain mill and an oil mill. It was built in 1852 and is listed as a Rijksmonument, number 32541.

New Energy Business School (NEBS), until 2022 called Energy Delta Institute (EDI) is an international energy business school, with a primary focus on natural gas. EDI was founded in 2002 by Gasunie, GasTerra, Gazprom and the University of Groningen, later joined by Royal Dutch Shell. EDI coordinated research projects and organised training programmes with a focus on the economic, management, legal and geopolitical aspects of the energy business. In 2017 EDI merged with Energy Academy Europe and Energy Valley and became part of New Energy Coalition. In 2022 the school was rebranded as New Energy Business School. In 2022 the collaboration with Gazprom was discontinued because of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
