Church of Our Lady of Light (Tamil: பிரகாச மாதா ஆலயம்) is a Roman Catholic shrine in Chennai, India. It is commonly called as Luz Church by the locals, which derives from the Portuguese name Nossa Senhora da Luz. Built in 1516 by the Portuguese, it is one of the oldest Churches in the city and its foundation stone marks as one of the oldest European monuments in India. The history of the church dates back to the 16th-century legend of safe arrival to land by missionaries. The church is located very near to the Santhome Basilica, where Apostle Thomas is believed to be buried. Although at the time the church was built, the locality was a thick forest, now it is part of a bustling metropolitan area. This 16th-century European-architecture building consists of patterns of Gothic arches and Baroque ornamentation. The feast of Our Lady of Light is celebrated on 15 August every year. On 15 August 2010, Church of Our Lady of Light was declared Shrine of Our Lady of Light by A. M. Chinnappa, Archbishop of Madras-Mylapore.

This residential area is situated just adjacent to Poes Garden, which is home to two of the most important personalities of Chennai, actor Rajnikanth and the late Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu J. Jayalalitha. The Boat Club Road adjoining Alwarpet and Raja Annamalaipuram is the third most expensive locality in India and the most expensive in South India.

Largest Human Flag of India was an event organised to form the world's largest human national flag in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. It was organised on 7 December 2014 by Rotary International in India with a slogan Rotary My Flag My India. More than 50,000 Indians gathered in YMCA Grounds, Chennai to form the world's largest human national flag.It is the official attempt to break the previous world record set by Nepal. The record was in the name of Human Values for Peace and Prosperity, an NGO in Nepal with a slogan – Breaking the Records to Unite the Hearts. They made their national flag by gathering 35,907 human on 23 August 2014. Guinness official Seyda Subasi-Gemici, adjudicator of Guinness World Records Ltd., presented the certificate validating the attempt.

Greenways Road (Tamil: பசுமைவழிச்சாலை) is a road and neighbourhood in Chennai, India. It is lined with the official residences of ministers of Tamil Nadu state government and judges of Chennai High Court. It also houses the Tahsildar district magistrate office of the Mylapore-Triplicane taluk. A park and memorial named after B. R. Part of this road is now renamed after D. G. S. Dinakaran. After the Eliphanstone Bridge (and later Thiru Vi Ka Bridge) was built a new road connecting Adyar to Greenways Road named Adyar Bridge Road (now Dr. Durgabai Deshmuk Road) was formed. Meenakshi Cinetone, one of the oldest cinema studios in Chennai (later Neptune (Sathya Studios now Sathyabama MGR Maligai)) and Jupiter Studios was also located on this road.
