South San Francisco station is a Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) station located in South San Francisco, California, United States in northern San Mateo County. It consists of two main tracks and a shared underground island platform. The station forms the current northern terminus of the Centennial Way Trail. Service at the station began on June 22, 2003 as part of the BART San Mateo County Extension project that extended BART service southward from Colma to Millbrae and San Francisco International Airport.

Holy Cross Cemetery (Spanish: Cementerio de la Santa Cruz) is a Roman Catholic cemetery in Colma, California, operated by the Archdiocese of San Francisco. Established in 1887 on 300 acres (1.2 km2), it is one of the oldest and largest cemeteries in California.

William J. Quinn (April 23, 1883 – October 10, 1963) was a San Francisco Police Department (SFPD) chief. A native of San Francisco, California, he attended Lincoln Grammar School, Sacred Heart College and studied law at Saint Ignatius College (now the University of San Francisco), graduating in 1925. He walked his first police beat in 1906. He served as chief of police in San Francisco from January 1, 1929, until February 15, 1940. Quinn presided over the modernization of the SFPD and is credited with establishing the first juvenile bureau and putting radios in police cars. He was chief during the Jessie Scott Hughes murder trial of Frank Egan and the 1934 San Francisco General Strike on the waterfront where he took a rock to the head, and during the period of the investigations by Edwin Atherton who published the Atherton Report on police graft and corruption. Quinn died on October 10, 1963, at the Livermore Sanitorium. He was interred at Holy Cross Cemetery in Colma, California.

It is an independent city library and part of the Peninsula Library System, a consortium of city, county, and community college libraries in San Mateo County. The library holds approximately 166,000 volumes and has 29,000 borrowers. In the fiscal year 2007-2008, the library circulated 687,000 items. The library provides access to homebound delivery services, numerous children's programs, a literacy program, a community learning center, 77 public computers, and free Wi-Fi.

The South San Francisco Hillside Sign is a historic sign on a hillside overlooking the city of South San Francisco in San Mateo County, California. It was created in the 1920s and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1996. The sign is the main feature of Sign Hill Park, a city park which provides 30 acres (12 ha) of open space, almost 2 miles (3.2 km) of hiking trails, and access to the letters of the sign itself.The sign spells out "SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO THE INDUSTRIAL CITY" in white-painted concrete letters and is visible to drivers on northbound U.S. 101 and flights to San Francisco International Airport.

Baden High School is a public continuation high school in the city of South San Francisco, California. The school is part of the South San Francisco Unified School District. The school is named for the Baden neighborhood of South San Francisco, formerly the town of Baden before South San Francisco was incorporated.The school serves approximately 100 students. Specialized programs include a Regional Occupation Program (ROP) program for hotel and hospitality work and a Teen Age Parenting Program.

KNTV (channel 11), branded as NBC Bay Area, is a television station licensed to San Jose, California, United States, broadcasting NBC programming to the San Francisco Bay Area. It is owned and operated by the network's NBC Owned Television Stations division alongside Telemundo outlet KSTS (channel 48); it is also sister to regional sports networks NBC Sports Bay Area and NBC Sports California. KNTV and KSTS share studios on North 1st Street in the North San Jose Innovation District; KNTV's transmitter is located on San Bruno Mountain. KNTV was established as an independent station in 1955; in 1960, it became an affiliate of ABC as the affiliate of record for Salinas and Monterey, otherwise a separate market. Even though San Francisco had its own ABC television station, KGO-TV, KNTV focused its news and other programming on the Santa Clara Valley. In 1999, ABC paid KNTV to end its affiliation in 2000 in order to allow KGO-TV to serve as the only source of ABC programming in the San Jose area. The station operated as an independent for a year and a half before securing a 10-year affiliation with NBC and then being sold to the network outright. Local news covering the entire Bay Area is produced from the San Jose studios.

San Bruno Mountain State Park, officially San Bruno Mountain State and County Park is a park located in northern San Mateo County, California. It is adjacent to the southern boundary of San Francisco and borders the cities of Brisbane, South San Francisco, Colma and Daly City. San Bruno Mountain State Park is a landmark of local and regional significance, standing as a unique open-space island in the midst of the peninsula's urbanization at the northern end of the Santa Cruz Mountain Range. The park is dominated by San Bruno Mountain which is a 4 miles (6.4 km) ridge. The park provides habitat for several species of rare and endangered plants and butterflies, including the Mission blue butterfly. Trails to the summit afford views of San Francisco and the Bay Area.

Brisbane (pron. BRIZ-bayn, unlike Brisbane, Queensland, Australia) is a small city located in California in the northern part of San Mateo County on the lower slopes of San Bruno Mountain. It is located on the southern border of San Francisco, on the northeastern edge of South San Francisco, next to San Francisco Bay and near San Francisco International Airport. The population was 4,851 as of the 2020 census. Brisbane is called "The City of Stars" because of a holiday tradition established over 69 years ago. At the start of the Christmas/Hanukkah season, many residents and business owners place large, illuminated stars, some as big as 10 feet (3.0 m) or more in diameter, on the downhill sides of homes and offices throughout Brisbane. Many of the stars are kept up all year.

The transmitter is along Radio Road on San Bruno Mountain in Brisbane. KMVQ broadcasts using HD Radio technology. Its HD2 digital subchannel airs a Dance/EDM format.
