High Wych is a village and civil parish in the East Hertfordshire district of Hertfordshire, England. The village is located a little over one mile south-west of the town of Sawbridgeworth, and around three miles north-east of Harlow in the neighbouring county of Essex. The parish includes the settlements of Great Pennys, Trimms Green, Sacombs Ash, Allens Green, Chandlers, Carters, Rook End, Hoskins and Sayes Park. The village contains a Church of England primary school and a late 19th-century church, St James, with a marble reredos and a Father Willis organ. A moated site is all that remains of the medieval residence of Mathams. There is also a Georgian historical house called the Manor of Groves which is now a hotel. High Wych was historically part of the parish of Sawbridgeworth. It became a separate ecclesiastical parish in 1862. High Wych remained part of the civil parish of Sawbridgeworth until 1 April 1901 when it became a separate civil parish.

Rowneybury House is a house in Sawbridgeworth, Hertfordshire, England. The property on which Rowneybury stands was part of Pishiobury before being divided in the 1880s. It was owned by Hertfordshire County Council and used as a home for children with learning disabilities. The original property had two upper floors, and a cellar under the majority of the main building. After laying empty for several years, it was purchased from the Council and renovated. In 1999, the property was purchased by the footballer David Beckham and his wife Victoria Beckham for £2.5 million. The property became dubbed "Beckingham Palace" by the press as a portmanteau of their surname and Buckingham Palace. They spent around £3 million on refurbishment, including a maze designed by James Gardner, in the grounds. In 2001, Victoria Beckham made a virtual tour of the mansion available online.The property was put up for sale by the Beckhams in 2013. The house, with 17 acres (6.9 ha) of grounds, was bought by the insurance tycoon Neil Utley, chairman of Hastings Direct, and Narmali Utley for £11.35 million in 2014.Rowneybury Cottage, near the entrance to the estate on Harlow Road, is a Grade II listed building. This timberframed house, dating from the late 16th-century to early 17th-century, was listed in 1981.

The Manor of Groves Hotel (formerly Grove Lodge) in High Wych, near Sawbridgeworth in Hertfordshire is a building of historical significance and is listed as Grade II on the English Heritage Register. It was remodelled over an existing older building in 1823 by a prominent London lawyer. The house was a private residence for many distinguished people over the next 150 years and in 1988 was converted to a hotel. It still serves this function and provides accommodation, dining facilities and caters for events such as conferences and weddings. There is also a golf course.

Sawbridgeworth Town Football Club is an English football club based in Sawbridgeworth, Hertfordshire. The club are currently members of the Spartan South Midlands League Premier Division and play at Crofters End.

The school became an academy in August 2011, and is part of the Rivers Multi-Academy Trust.As of 2018, the school's last inspection was in 2012 when it was judged Outstanding in each of the five categories.In 2017, the school's Progress 8 score at GCSE was -0.08, in line with the England average, and the Attainment 8 score was 53 points, above the England and Hertfordshire averages. In 2018, GCSE results "exceed[ed] national targets".The average grade at A level in 2018 was C, just below the England and Hertfordshire averages of C+. Absence and persistent absence were better than the England average for 2016/17.

Harlowbury, historically Herlaue Abbatis, was a medieval manor located in modern-day Harlow, Essex, England. The area's history dates back at least to the Iron Age, and a Roman villa is located not far from the site. The manor was adjacent to a now-deserted medieval village; both the villa and village are scheduled monuments. Harlowbury was first established as an estate under the Abbey of Bury St Edmunds in 1044. In 1539, the abbey dissolved and the lands were sold to private owners: first to the Addington family, in 1680 to the North family of the Earldom of Guilford, and finally in 1879 to John Perry-Watlington. The manorial estate and Harlowbury Chapel, a Norman-era church and the oldest building in Harlow, are now scheduled monuments. Both the manor house and chapel are Grade I listed by Historic England.

Gibberd Garden is a garden in Harlow, Essex, England, which was created by Sir Frederick Gibberd (the planner of Harlow New Town) and his wife Patricia Gibberd. They designed the garden and added sculptures, ceramic pots and architectural salvage from 1972 till his death in 1984.

Old Harlow is the old town area of Harlow, in Essex, England. It was the historical town centre prior to Harlow being designated a new town in 1947 during the new towns in the United Kingdom movement. Old Harlow is situated in the north-east area of the town and is the oldest area of the town. Old Harlow pre-dates the first written record in the Domesday Book of 1086, so it is unknown when the town first came into existence. Originally Old Harlow was going to be the central area of Harlow New Town, but due to the amount of demolition works and the loss of agricultural land it was decided to build Harlow New Town to the west of Old Harlow. As the new town was being built, Old Harlow seemed to be forgotten and fell behind in its development. It was not until 1977 that Old Harlow was improved with the building of a health service and a senior citizens day centre. Old Harlow still remains village-like with two Grade I listed buildings and many Grade II listed buildings. Old Harlow ward has a total population of 5,845 and comprises 2,498 homes.

Sawbridgeworth railway station is on the West Anglia Main Line serving the town of Sawbridgeworth in Hertfordshire, England. It is 26 miles 57 chains (43.0 km) down the line from London Liverpool Street and is situated between Harlow Mill and Bishop's Stortford stations. Its three-letter station code is SAW. The waiting room was added in 1960 by H.H. Powell of the British Railways Eastern Region Architect's Department with H.E. Green as the Project Architect. The ticket office was added in 1972 by S. Hardy with Project Architect P.H. Thomas. The station and all trains serving it are operated by Greater Anglia. Both platforms were extended to accommodate 12-coach trains in 2011. The station adjoins Lower Sheering in neighbouring Essex, and part of the station was previously in Essex.
