The Institut des mondes africains (IMAF) is a French academic mixed and interdisciplinary research unit for African studies, in which the national reseach organisation CNRS (Centre national de la recherche scientifique), three other French national academic research institutions and two universities collaborate. They are the Institut de recherche pour le développement (IRD, French Research Institute for Development), the École pratique des hautes études (EPHE), the École des hautes études en sciences sociales (EHESS, School for Advanced Studies in the Social Sciences) and the Aix-Marseille University and the Pantheon-Sorbonne University.IMAF was founded on January 1, 2014 by merging three research centres: the Centre d'études des mondes africains (CEMAf), the Centre d'études africaines (CEAf) and the Centre d’histoire sociale de l’islam méditerranéen (CHSIM). The institute is located both at the Campus Condorcet Paris-Aubervilliers in Aubervilliers and at Maison méditerranéenne des sciences de l'homme (MMSH) of Aix-Marseille University in Aix-en-Provence.

Cité Gagarine was a housing project in Ivry-sur-Seine, France. It was built by the Communist Party of France government starting in 1961 and inaugurated in 1963, and was a symbol of the vibrancy of communism in France at the time. It was named for the Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin, the first human who went to space. Gagarin attended the inauguration of the housing project in 1963.With the de-industrialization of France in the 1970s, the workforce that comprised the main part of the population of Cité Gagarine began to lose its employment, and voter affiliation with the Communist Party of France declined. Over the years, Cité Gagarine came to house more immigrants from outside of France.Cité Gagarine's demolition began in 2019 and took place over 16 months. The start of the demolition of the housing project drew crowds and made news both in France and internationally.A film made by writer-director duo Fanny Liatard and Jérémy Trouilh released in 2020, Gagarine, is set in the estate as it faces impending demolition, exploring themes of isolation and community in a magical realist manner.

Mairie d'Ivry (French pronunciation: ​[mɛʁi divʁi]) is a station of the Paris Métro, serving Line 7 in the commune of Ivry-sur-Seine, opened on 1 May 1946, when the line was extended from Porte d'Ivry. The station serves as the southeastern terminus of Paris Métro Line 7.

Ivry-sur-Seine is a station in Paris' express suburban rail system, the RER. It is situated on the Paris–Bordeaux railway. The station is situated in the eastern side of Ivry-sur-Seine, in Val-de-Marne. Travelers can take RATP bus 125 and 323 to connect between this station and Mairie d'Ivry on Paris Métro Line 7.

The Institut Polytechnique des Sciences Avancées (IPSA), (English: Institute of Polytechnic Science and Aeronautics) is a French private grande école in aerospace engineering located at Ivry-sur-Seine, Lyon and Toulouse, recognized by the French state since 2010, whose diploma has been accredited by the French Commission des Titres d'Ingénieur since 2011. It was founded in 1961 and has been part of IONIS Education Group since 1998.

The École des technologies numériques appliquées (ETNA) is a French private school of computer science localized at Ivry-sur-Seine. Created in 2005 by Patrice Dumoucel, the school has been part of IONIS Education Group since 2006. The certification delivered by the school are recognized by the French state · .The school is from the same group as EPITA and EPITECH. IPS'AIR is a French airshow started in 2020. It is located in Ivry-sur-Seine, close to Paris. It is organized by the grande école Institut polytechnique des sciences avancées, one of the most important aerospace College in France. It is held yearly in February. Fort d'Ivry was built in the Paris suburb of Ivry-sur-Seine between 1841 and 1845, as one of the forts in a ring of strong points surrounding Paris. The fort is about 1 kilometre outside the Thiers Wall, built by the same program in response to a perception that Paris was vulnerable to invasion and occupation. The fort was upgraded in the 1870s, to cope with improvements in artillery performance as part of the Séré de Rivières system. In 1946, the fort was vacated by the garrison. It is now the home of the Communication and Audiovisual Production Company for the Department of Defense (Établissement de communication et de production audiovisuelle de la Défense, E.C.P.A.D.).

Pierre et Marie Curie (French pronunciation: ​[pjɛʁ e maʁi kyʁi]) is a station on the southeast branch of Line 7 of the Paris Métro. The station, located in Ivry-sur-Seine, was opened in 1946. It was previously known as Pierre Curie. Following a renovation completed on 31 January 2007, it was renamed to honour his wife and fellow Nobel laureate Maria Skłodowska-Curie as well on 8 March, International Women's Day. It thereby became only the third station in the Métro named for a woman that is not a saint, after Marguerite de Rochechouart and Louise Michel.
