Poe Textile Mill

The American Spinning Company Mill No. 2 is a historic mill complex at 300 Hammett Street, in a pocket of unincorporated Greenville County, South Carolina surrounded on three sides by the city of Greenville. It is a five-story brick building, to which a number of warehouse buildings and other additions were made. It was built in 1901-02, as part of a major expansion to the American Spinning Company's Mill No. 1, which originally stood just south of Hammett Street. It was built by Oscar Sampson, a Boston textile manufacturer to a design by the industrial design firm Lockwood and Greene, and is one of thirteen early 20th-century mills surviving in the Greenville area. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2016. Its major tenant now is the Victor Mill Company, a furniture maker.

Earle Town House is a historic house in Greenville, South Carolina. It was listed in the National Register of Historic Places on August 5, 1969, and is included in the Col. Elias Earle Historic District.Until the end of the 20th century, the house was widely believed to have been built about 1810 for Congressman Elias T. Earle; but Earle never owned the property. The house is more likely to have been built c. 1829-1833 by one Samuel Green or possibly as late as 1834 after the land had been acquired by Elias Drayton Earle, half nephew and son-in-law of Elias T. Earle.In 1856 James A. David bought the house and 35 acres. His son, Charles A. David (1853-1934)—a merchant by profession and essayist, humorist, and cartoonist by avocation—lived in it until 1922. David described it as a "rambling old affair" with a framework "mortised and put together with wooden pegs....The ceilings were so high, the only way it could have been heated in winter would have been to set it on fire." In December 1927, the house was bought by Mary Chevillette Simms Oliphant, granddaughter of 19th-century novelist William Gilmore Simms and the author in her own right of more than a dozen books, including a once widely adopted public school history of South Carolina. In the 1920s Oliphant had Greenville architect William Riddle Ward renovate the house to what she believed was its original Federal style, demolishing one wing, removing the colonnaded porch, and adding three rooms to the second floor. Some original features were preserved, including hand-hewn timbers, brick and rock supports, six-paneled doors, a hand-carved mantelpiece, and a Palladian window in the second story. Oliphant was able to have her house and nearby Whitehall listed on the National Register, the first buildings in Greenville to be so recognized. She also organized a successful petition campaign to dissuade local officials from running a proposed highway bypass through James Street.

The 1946 Greenville propane explosion occurred on 19 November 1946, at the Ideal Laundry laundromat in Greenville, South Carolina. A tank containing around 3,500 US gallons (13 m3) of propane exploded around 6 PM, after leaking vapors were ignited by the boilers in the basement. The blast, which killed 6 people and injured over 150, was felt as far away as Gaffney, 50 miles to the northeast.

Third Presbyterian Church is a historic church in Greenville, South Carolina, restored as a place of worship by the congregation of Trinity Church of Greenville, for which the latter received a 2016 State Preservation Honor Award from the South Carolina Department of Archives and History and the Palmetto Trust for Historic Preservation.

Whitehall is a historic home located at Greenville, South Carolina. It was built in 1813 as a summer residence by Charlestonian Henry Middleton on land purchased from Elias Earle. Whitehall served as Middleton's summer home until 1820. It is a simple white frame structure with shuttered windows and wide first and second story galleries, or piazzas, in the Barbadian style.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1969.

Greenville station is an Amtrak train station in Greenville, South Carolina, United States. It is located at 1120 West Washington Street, at the south end of the Norfolk Southern Railway freight yard and one mile (1.6 km) northwest of downtown Greenville.

Monaghan Mill, now the Lofts of Greenville, is a former textile mill (1900–2001) in Greenville, South Carolina, that in the early 21st century was converted into loft apartments. The building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Col. Elias Earle Historic District is a national historic district located at Greenville, South Carolina. It encompasses 74 contributing buildings in a middle-class neighborhood of Greenville. The houses primarily date from about 1915 to 1930, and include Neoclassical, Colonial Revival, Tudor Revival, and bungalow styles. The district was originally part of the estate of Colonel Elias Earle, a prominent early-19th century Greenville citizen. The Earle St. Baptist Church is located in the district.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

Hampton Pinckney is a neighborhood and national historic district located in Greenville, South Carolina. One of the oldest neighborhoods in Greenville, it was where the textile industry was started in the early 19th century and lasted until the 1920s. The first trolley car in Greenville was installed in this neighborhood in 1899, opening for business in 1901. It encompasses 70 contributing buildings in a residential section of Greenville. The houses date from about 1890 to 1930, and include Italianate, Greek Revival, Queen Anne, various bungalows, and examples of Gothic Revival and Colonial Revival design, as well as vernacular forms. The oldest house in the district is the McBee House (ca. 1835).It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1977, with a boundary increase in 1982.

The Upcountry History Museum is a history museum in Greenville, South Carolina that displays the regional history of fifteen upstate South Carolina counties from the early 18th century to the present. Exhibits designed by Christopher Chadbourne and Associates emphasize technology rather than artifacts "to engage the senses, ignite the imagination and transport visitors back in time." The museum is located on Greenville's Heritage Green with The Children's Museum, the Greenville County Art Museum, Sigal Music Museum, the Greenville County Main Library, and the Greenville Little Theatre. The museum opened in September 2007 and is operated by Furman University. In 2015, the Upcountry History Museum was named a Smithsonian affiliate. Its first Smithsonian exhibit was Searching for the Seventies: The DOCUMERICA Photography Project.

City View , a former incorporated city, is now a census-designated place (CDP) in Greenville County, South Carolina, United States. The population was 1,345 at the 2010 census, up from 1,254 in 2000. It is part of the Greenville–Mauldin–Easley Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Legacy Early College Field is a 4,000-seat stadium located on the campus of Legacy Early College, a college preparatory school, in Greenville, South Carolina. The stadium is best known for being the home field for Greenville Triumph SC, a professional soccer club that plays in USL League One, the third tier of soccer in the United States.
