Vasco da Gama is a light rail station on the Porto Metro system in the municipality of Matosinhos, Portugal. The station is on line A of the Metro, which provides a direct connection to the centre of the city of Porto. It is situated in the centre of the Avenida Vasco da Gama and was opened in 2002. While much of the first stage of the Porto Metro was built using the trackbed of the network of 1,000 mm (3 ft 3+3⁄8 in) gauge railways that served the area to the north of Porto, including a line to Matosinhos, the Vasco da Gama station is on a new alignment created for the Metro. The new station was on the first section of the Porto Metro to open and was inaugurated on 7 December 2002, with commercial services starting on 1 January 2003. Vasco da Gama is a through station on line A. The platforms are at street level, with two through tracks served by two side platforms accessible directly from the street. There are four or five trains per hour in each direction. The next station to the west is Estádio do Mar. To the east, and just before the next station of Senhora da Hora, line A joins lines B, C, E and F to run together through the centre of Porto.

Senhora da Hora (Portuguese pronunciation: [sɨˈɲoɾɐ ðɐ ˈɔɾɐ]) is a former civil parish in the municipality of Matosinhos in the Greater Porto area, Portugal. In 2013, the parish merged into the new parish São Mamede de Infesta e Senhora da Hora. It was promoted from town (vila) to city (cidade) status on 12 June 2009. It lies just north of the Porto city limits and is densely populated. It is a major suburban habitational area with many houses and some commerce. Senhora da Hora is very developed and is well connected by road, bus and Porto Metro to the nearby cities of Matosinhos, São Mamede de Infesta, Porto, Maia, Vila do Conde, the Porto Airport (OPO), and the port of Leixões all north of the Douro river. The large developed town of Águas Santas is also in Grande Porto.

Circuito da Boavista is a street circuit in Porto, Portugal, which was used twice for the Formula One Portuguese Grand Prix. The original course began at the harbor-front "Esplanada do Rio de Janeiro", continued on "Avenida da Boavista", (hence the circuit's name), and then twisted its way through small neighborhoods back to the start-finish line. The first Grand Prix was held in 1958, and saw an act of sportsmanship by Stirling Moss. Moss came to the defense of his countryman and title rival Mike Hawthorn, who faced a penalty for having driven towards oncoming traffic after a spin. Moss persuaded the stewards not to disqualify Hawthorn, who retained his second place and 6 points. Hawthorn eventually won the drivers championship by 1 point over Moss. The 1960 running was a race of attrition, with only four cars finishing within five laps of winner Jack Brabham. Accidents and mechanical problems ended the day early for future champions John Surtees, Phil Hill, Graham Hill and others.
