39th federal electoral district of the Federal District

The twenty-third federal electoral district of Mexico City (Distrito electoral federal 23 de la Ciudad de México; previously "of the Federal District") is a defunct Mexican electoral district. It was in existence from 1961 to 2023. During that time, it returned one deputy to the Chamber of Deputies for each three-year legislative session by means of the first-past-the-post system, electing its first in the 1961 mid-term election and its last in the 2021 mid-terms. From 1979 onwards, votes cast in the district also counted towards the calculation of proportional representation ("plurinominal") deputies elected from the country's electoral regions. The 23rd and 24th districts were abolished in the 2022 redistricting process because the capital's population no longer warranted that number of seats in Congress.

Coyoacán (US: KOY-oh-ə-KAHN, Spanish: [koʝoaˈkan] (listen)) is a borough (demarcación territorial) in Mexico City. The former village is now the borough's "historic center". The name comes from Nahuatl and most likely means "place of coyotes", when the Aztecs named a pre-Hispanic village on the southern shore of Lake Texcoco dominated by the Tepanec people. Against Aztec domination, these people welcomed Hernán Cortés and the Spanish, who used the area as a headquarters during the Spanish conquest of the Aztec Empire and made it the first capital of New Spain between 1521 and 1523. The village and later municipality of Coyoacán remained completely independent of Mexico City through the colonial period into the 19th century. In 1857, the area was incorporated into the then Federal District when this district was expanded. In 1928, the borough was created when the Federal District was divided into sixteen boroughs. The urban sprawl of Mexico City reached the borough in the mid-20th century, turning farms, former lakes, and forests into developed areas, but many of the former villages have kept their original layouts, plazas, and narrow streets and have conserved structures built from the 16th to the early 20th centuries. This has made the borough of Coyoacán, especially its historic center, a popular place to visit on weekends.

Café El Jarocho is a coffee shop created in 1953 in Coyoacán a borough of Mexico City. Today it has nine branches distributed Mexico City which are currently administered by the children of the founders.

Museo Nacional de las Culturas Populares (National Museum of Popular Cultures) is a museum in Mexico City dedicated to Mexico's ethnic and cultural diversity. This diversity not only includes that of its indigenous peoples, but also those of its regions and socioeconomic strata. It was founded in 1982 by anthropologist Guillermo Bonfil Batalla at a time when the country was accepting and promoting its cultural diversity. The museum does not have a large permanent collection but rather focuses on temporary exhibits, concerts, workshops and other cultural and educational events as well as promoting the creation of museums in Mexico to promote local cultures. The museum is also home to the Centro de Información y Documentación Alberto Beltrán, founded in 1971 to promote research and knowledge about Mexican handcrafts and folk art and indigenous ethnicities.

The Frida Kahlo Museum (Spanish: Museo Frida Kahlo), also known as the Blue House (La Casa Azul) for the structure's cobalt-blue walls, is a historic house museum and art museum dedicated to the life and work of Mexican artist Frida Kahlo. It is located in the Colonia del Carmen neighborhood of Coyoacán in Mexico City. The building was Kahlo's birthplace, the home where she grew up, lived with her husband Diego Rivera for a number of years, and where she later died in a room on the upper floor. In 1957, Diego Rivera donated the home and its contents in order to turn it into a museum in Frida's honor. The museum contains a collection of artwork by Frida Kahlo, Diego Rivera, and other artists along with the couple's Mexican folk art, pre-Hispanic artifacts, photographs, memorabilia, personal items, and more. The collection is displayed in the rooms of the house which remains much as it was in the 1950s. It is the most popular museum in Coyoacán and one of the most visited in Mexico City.

The Leon Trotsky House Museum, Trotsky Museum, or Trotsky House Museum, (Spanish: Museo Casa de León Trotsky) is a museum honoring Leon Trotsky and an organization that works to promote political asylum, located in the Coyoacán neighborhood of Mexico City. Its official name is Instituto del Derecho de Asilo - Museo Casa de León Trotsky (Right of Asylum Institute – Leon Trotsky House Museum). The center of the complex is the house where Trotsky and his second wife, Natalia Sedova, lived from April 1939 to August 1940, and where Trotsky was murdered. The house has been kept as it was at that time, especially the study in which Ramón Mercader killed Trotsky with an ice axe to the back of the head. Around the house is a garden and high walls with watchtowers. A former handball court—to the rear of the actual house—has been modified and incorporated into a library, contemporary gallery, permanent display, offices, and auditorium. It now serves as the main entrance to the museum on Río Churubusco 410."On September 24, 1982, by presidential decree, the property was declared a historical monument" and the complex was turned into the current museum and asylum institution in 1990, on the 50th anniversary of the assassination.

Viveros de Coyoacán is a combination tree nursery and public park which covers 38.9 hectares in the Coyoacán borough of Mexico City. The nursery was founded by Miguel Angel de Quevedo in the early 20th century as a way to provide seedlings for the reforestation of Mexico's badly damaged forests, especially around Mexico City. The first lands were donated by Quevedo himself with the federal government then getting involved, allowing for the planting of 140,000 trees between 1913 and 1914 alone. Today, the nursery produces one million seedlings per year mostly for projects around Mexico City. The area was declared a national park in 1938 and today attracts between 2,500 and 3,000 visitors daily, many of whom come to exercise or feed the area's very tame squirrels. The overpopulation of squirrels and a large rat population have been problems for the park.

Mítikah, (in Spanish a homonym of "Mítica" i.e. "Mythical"), is a mixed-use complex with Mexico City's tallest skyscraper in the Benito Juárez borough of southern Mexico City across the Circuito Interior inner ring road from Coyoacán. It opened on 23 September 2022. The tower was integrated with neighboring properties into a mixed-use residential, office, retail and medical complex, at around 1,000,000 sq. m., the largest in Latin America.Its completion was initially planned for 2015, however, financial and permits issues stopped construction in 2014. In 2015 Fibra Uno took over the project aiming to restart construction in early 2016. Torre Mítikah is currently the tallest building in the city (at 62 stories and 267 metres (876 ft)).In 2016, the Mítikah skyscraper project was expanded into a complex to integrate with the neighboring Centro Bancomer (currently vacant) and Centro Coyoacán mall.

The Alberca Olímpica Francisco Márquez is an indoor swimming pool Olympic facility located in Mexico City, Mexico. It has a capacity of 4,300. It hosted the 1968 Summer Olympics for competitions of swimming, diving, water polo, and the swimming part of modern pentathlon. The only Mexican gold medal in Olympic swimming competitions was won at this site. It was won by Felipe Muñoz in the 200 metres men breast stroke competition. It also hosted the 2017 World Para Swimming Championships.

The Gimnasio Olímpico Juan de la Barrera is an indoor arena located in Mexico City, Mexico. At the 1968 Summer Olympics, it hosted the volleyball competitions, and it is located next to the Olympic pool. It was the home of La Ola Roja del Distrito Federal of the LNBP from 2000 to 2007 and the professional basketball team Capitanes de Ciudad de México from 2017 to 2020. The arena seats 5,242 people in two stand levels. For years, it has been the traditional home of professional basketball in Mexico City.

Parque Xicoténcatl is a public park in the Churubusco neighborhood of Coyoacán, Mexico City. It is located across from the Museo Nacional de las Intervenciones, which details foreign attacks since Mexican independence. The park is named after warrior prince Xicotencatl II of the Tlaxcala who was executed in 1521 after the fall of Tenochtitlan. The park was derelict prior to being nationalized and given its current name in 1965. It contains 6,000 m2 of trees and three talavera azulejo water fountains. President José López Portillo commissioned a sculpture of Hernán Cortés, Doña Marina, and their son Martín. The 1981 statue by Julián Martínez Sotos was originally placed in front of Cortés's house in Coyoacán. After López Portillo left office, the sculpture was moved to Parque Xicoténcatl.
