Essen-Überruhr station is located in the district of Überruhr in the city of Essen in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. It is on the Wuppertal-Vohwinkel–Essen-Überruhr line and is classified by Deutsche Bahn as a category 6 station.The station was opened on 1 December 1847 by the Prince William Railway Company as the northern terminus of its Vohwinkel–Überruhr line, after its takeover, standardisation and extension of the Deil Valley Railway Company's line from Kupferdreh to Nierenhof (the oldest German railway).

Essen-Holthausen station is located in the district of Überruhr in the city of Essen in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. It is on the Wuppertal-Vohwinkel–Essen-Überruhr line.

The Essen-Werden to Essen railway is an electrified railway line in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. It is a main line railway with two tracks, except for the Stadtwald Tunnel, running through the metropolitan area of Essen and connecting Essen-Werden station with Essen Hauptbahnhof.

Essen Stadtwald is located on the Essen-Werden–Essen railway, close to a single-track tunnel, the Stadtwald Tunnel. It is in the Essen district of Stadtwald in the German state of North Rhine Westphalia.

The Moltkeviertel (Moltke Quarter) is a district of the German city of Essen. It is located near the centre of the town, as the crow flies just over a kilometre to the south-east of the Essen main railway station. It is bounded by the thoroughfares Kronprinzenstrasse, Ruhrallee, Töpferstrasse and Rellinghauserstasse and by the railway line from Essen Main Station to Essen-Werden (S6 rapid transit link to Düsseldorf and Cologne). Administratively, it belongs to the urban districts of Essen-Südostviertel and Essen-Huttrop. The centre point of the Moltkeviertel is the Robert-Schmidt-Berufskolleg (vocational college), formerly the Königliche Baugewerkschule (Royal Building College) Essen, at the corner of Moltkestrasse and Robert-Schmidt-Strasse.

Essen Süd (south) station (German: Haltepunkt Essen Süd) is located on the Essen-Werden–Essen railway in the Essen borough of Südviertel ("southern quarter") in the German state of North Rhine Westphalia. It is heritage-listed.

Uhlenkrugstadion is a multi-use stadium in Essen, Germany. It is currently used mostly for football matches and serves as home ground for Schwarz-Weiß Essen. The stadium was built by its main tenant in 1922, having an initial capacity of 35,000 people and featuring a stand constructed out of iron, which was unusual at this time. In 1939, the structure was expanded to hold 45,000 people. After World War II, during which the stadium was destroyed, it hosted an international friendly between West Germany and Luxembourg in 1951. Over the years and because of increasing structural decline and safety measures, the capacity was gradually reduced to about 20,000 people, before undergoing further reconstruction work in order to meet the criteria for the newly founded NRW-Liga. The stadium currently has a capacity of 9,950 people.

Steele is a suburb of Essen, Germany. It is bordered on the south by the Ruhr river, and by the suburbs of Kray in the north, Leithe in the northeast, Freisenbruch in the east, Horst in the southeast, Ãœberruhr in the south, Bergerhausen in the southwest, and Huttrop in the west. It has two railway stations, Essen-Steele station and Essen-Steele Ost station. Steele became a city in the Ruhrgebiet (Ruhr area) in 1578, and in 1905 its population was 12,988. In 1929 it became a suburb of Essen. A Diet of the Holy Roman Empire was held here in the year 938 by the emperor Otto I.

Essen-Steele is located in the district of Essen-Steele in the German city of Essen in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. It is on the Witten/Dortmund–Oberhausen/Duisburg line and is classified by Deutsche Bahn as a category 4 station. It is served by the RE 14 (Emscher-Münsterland-Express) Borken (Westf) / Coesfeld (Westf), RE 49 (Wupper-Lippe-Express) and Rhine-Ruhr S-Bahn lines S1, S3 and S9.

Essen-Kray Süd station is one of two railway stations in the German city of Essen, North Rhine-Westphalia, located in the district of Essen-Kray. The other one is Essen-Kray Nord station on the Essen–Gelsenkirchen railway line.

Old Kupferdreh station (German: Alter Bahnhof Kupferdreh) was built by the Prussian state railways in the Essen district of Kupferdreh in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia and opened in 1898 on the Prince William Railway. The station is close to the start of the first German railway, which was opened on 20 September 1831 by the Deil Valley Railway Company to Nierenhof. The entrance building stands near the junction of the former Ruhr Valley Railway (Ruhrtalbahn) that ran from there along the north bank of the Ruhr and the Baldeneysee reservoir to Ruhrort. This building was opened on 27 July 1898. The station was designed in the form of a two-story brick house with decorative brick work, windows in different sizes and an arched entrance built with ochre sandstone. The stucco decoration in the first class waiting room, which was renovated for its current use as a large dining room, is notable. The front platform, from which day the historic Hesper Valley Railway (Hespertalbahn) begins its journey, belonged formerly to the Ruhr Valley Railway, which crossed the Ruhr about 200 metres to the south. The Hesper Valley Railway or Pörtingsiepen Railway (Pörtingsiepenbahn) branched off and ran along the south bank of the Ruhr. A horse-hauled narrow-gauge railway was opened in the Hesper Valley in 1857, serving the mines in the Velbert area. The line was later connected to the Pörtingsiepen colliery in Essen-Fischlaken and as a result the line from Kupferdreh to Hesperbrück was converted to standard gauge in 1877. A remaining narrow gauge section to Hefel was closed in 1918. There were also passenger services for the mine workforce between 1927 and the closure of the Pörtingsiepen colliery in 1973. In 1975, the Association for the Preservation of Hesper Valley Railway (Verein zur Erhaltung der Hespertalbahn e. V.) rescued the line from demolition. The trains of the line S 9 of the Rhine-Ruhr S-Bahn run past the old building without stopping to stop at the new Essen-Kupferdreh station.

It is on the Witten/Dortmund–Oberhausen/Duisburg line and is classified by Deutsche Bahn as a category 4 station. It is served by Rhine-Ruhr S-Bahn lines S 1 and S 3.
