Maia (Portuguese pronunciation: [ˈmajɐ] (listen)) is a municipality in the Porto Metropolitan Area, Grande Porto subregion, in Norte Region, Portugal. It is located 11 km north of central Porto. The population in 2011 was 135,306, in an area of 82.99 km2 (32.04 sq mi). There is one city (Cidade da Maia) and three towns (Moreira, Castêlo da Maia and Águas Santas) in the municipality.

It has 10 freguesias in its area of jurisdiction and is based in the city of Maia, on the Porto District. These freguesias are: Águas Santas, Castêlo da Maia, Cidade da Maia, Folgosa, Milheirós, Moreira, Nogueira e Silva Escura, Pedrouços, São Pedro Fins and Vila Nova da Telha. The Maia City Council is made up of 11 councillors, representing, currently, two different political forces. The first candidate on the list with the most votes in a municipal election or, in the event of a vacancy, the next candidate on the list, takes office as President of the Municipal Chamber.

Cidade da Maia is a civil parish in the municipality of Maia, Portugal. It was formed in 2013 by the merger of the former parishes Gueifães, Maia and Vermoim. The population in 2011 was 40,134, in an area of 10.42 km². The parish covers the central area of Maia. In 1902, Maia achieved the status of vila (town). Maia was granted city status (cidade) on 23 August 1986.

Moreira, also known as Moreira da Maia, is a Portuguese town (vila) and civil parish in the municipality of Maia, Greater Porto, Portugal. It was formed in 2013 by the merger of the former parishes Duas Igrejas, Rio Mau, Goães, Godinhaços, Pedregais, Azões and Portela das Cabras. The population in 2011 was 12,890, in an area of 8.67 km².

Coronado (São Romão e São Mamede) is a civil parish in the municipality of Trofa, Portugal. It was formed in 2013 by the merger of the former parishes São Romão and São Mamede. The population in 2011 was 9,119, in an area of 10.98 km2. The town Coronado is an industrial center.

CardMobili is a European-based mobile application development company founded in 2009. The primary application of the company, also named CardMobili, provided a platform for managing customer loyalty programs via mobile phones. The application provided for digitizing and storing loyalty and membership cards, allowing their barcodes to be scanned directly from the device screen. It supported Android, iPhone, BlackBerry, Windows Phone 7, Windows Mobile, Nokia, Vodafone, and other brands. CardMobili and the Portuguese Bank Banco Espírito Santo collaborated to launch the world's first digital credit card.On April 30, 2016, the application was removed from app stores and online features ceased functioning.

Pedras Rubras (Portuguese for Reddish stones) is a Portuguese locality and suburb in the Moreira parish, in the Maia Municipality of the Greater Porto subregion. The Porto Airport (OPO) (Sá Carneiro International Airport, formerly known as Pedras Rubras Airport) terminal and part of runway is located in Pedras Rubras.

Aeroporto is a light rail station on the Porto Metro system in the municipality of Maia, Portugal. It was built to serve Porto Airport, and is situated immediately outside the main terminal of that airport. The station is the terminus of line E of the Metro, which provides a direct connection to the centre of the city of Porto. Porto Metro line E, including Aeroporto station, opened on 27 May 2006. Trains run every 15 minutes as far as Trindade, in the centre of the city, with some continuing to Estádio do Dragão. The station has an overall roof, and the platforms are accessed by stairs and lifts from a lower level concourse, which in turn is directly accessible from the terminal building. Arriving trains stop at a single side platform to set down passengers before proceding to a reversal siding beyond the station to reverse. From here they stop at either side of an island platform to pick up passengers. The next station after departure is Botica.
