Jardim do Morro station

The Monastery of Serra do Pilar is a former monastery located in Vila Nova de Gaia, Portugal, on the opposite side of the Douro River from Porto. The monastery is situated on an outcrop overlooking the Dom Luís I Bridge and the historic centre of Porto. Together with these locations, the monastery was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1996. The monastery is notable for its church and cloister, both of which are circular.

The Dom Luís I Bridge (Portuguese: Ponte de Dom Luís I), or Luís I Bridge, is a double-deck metal arch bridge that spans the River Douro between the cities of Porto and Vila Nova de Gaia in Portugal. At its construction, its 172 metres (564 ft) span was the longest of its type in the world. It has been confused with the nearby Maria Pia Bridge, a railway bridge that was built 9 years earlier (and is located 1 kilometre (0.62 mi) to the east), which is similar in aspect to the Luís I bridge.

The Guindais Funicular (Portuguese: Funicular dos Guindais) is a funicular railway in the civil parish of Cedofeita, Santo Ildefonso, Sé, Miragaia, São Nicolau e Vitória, Portuguese municipality of Porto.

General Torres is a light rail station on line D of the Porto Metro system in Vila Nova de Gaia, Portugal. It is situated on the Avenida da República some 100 metres (330 ft) from the entrance to the General Torres railway station, served by suburban trains on the Linha do Norte. The initial section of line D, including General Torres station, opened on 17 September 2005, with trains initially running between Câmara de Gaia, to the south, and Pólo Universitário to the north. The line has since been extended from Câmara de Gaia to Vila d’Este, and from Pólo Universitário to Hospital de São João. The station is preceded by Jardim do Morro and followed by Câmara de Gaia stations. On weekdays, trains run every five to six minutes, declining to every 10 minutes on weekends and evenings. The station platforms are on the surface, and there are two through tracks, each served by a side platform. The platforms are directly accessible from the Avenida da República.

The Gaia Cable Car, or Teleférico de Gaia, is a monocable gondola lift located in Vila Nova de Gaia, across the Douro river from the Portuguese city of Porto. The upper station is located next to Jardim do Morro station of the Porto Metro, the upper level of the Dom Luís I Bridge, and the Serra do Pilar Monastery. The lower station is on the riverside promenade of Cais de Gaia, with several nearby Port wine cellars, along with restaurants, cafes and a departure point for Douro river cruises. The line was built by Doppelmayr at a cost of €12 million, and is operated by the company Telef - Transportes por Cabo e Concessões, SA. Construction commenced in March 2009, and the line entered service in April 2011. As of November 2024, the line runs every day except Christmas Day, with services starting at 10:00 and ending between 18:00 and 20:00 depending on the season. Tickets can be bought at either station or online, but Andante tickets cannot be used. The line runs roughly parallel to Gaia bank of the Douro, but there is a significant difference in height between its upper and lower stations, which are respectively some 63 metres (207 ft) and 5 metres (16 ft) above mean sea level. The line is some 562 metres (1,844 ft) long and is supported on 3 pylons. The longest span between the support towers is 396 metres (1,299 ft) and the average incline is 9.1%. There are 12 cars, each of which can carry up to 8 passengers. The line has a maximum speed of 5 metres per second (16 ft/s), but normally operates at just 2.5 metres per second (8.2 ft/s) in order to allow passengers to enjoy the views of Vila Nova de Gaia, the Douro river, and Porto. Travel time is 3 minutes 45 seconds, and the line can carry up to 850 passengers per hour.

The Elevador da Ribeira or Elevador da Lada is a public elevator in Porto, Portugal. It connects the neighbourhood of Ribeira (at no. 66 of Largo dos Arcos da Ribeira, near the Dom Luís I Bridge) to the middle of the slope of Barredo, by means of a vertical lift and a footbridge.It was designed by the architect António Moura, and its inauguration on 13 April 1994 was attended by President Mário Soares and other dignitaries.The lift is open from Monday to Friday from 08:00 to 20:00.

General Torres railway station is a station on the Linha do Norte, a railway line that connects the cities of Lisbon and Porto in Portugal. It is situated in the municipality of Vila Nova de Gaia, next to the Rua General Torres that gives it its name. The station is principally served by suburban trains of the Porto network of CP Urban Services. General Torres railway station is some 100 metres (330 ft) from the General Torres station on the Porto Metro light rail line D.

Igreja de Santa Clara is a Catholic temple located in the parish of Sé in Porto, Portugal The construction of the church began in 1416 alongside the Santa Clara Convent for use by nuns of the Order of Poor Clares. However, the Order of Poor Clares settled in the church in 1427, it was completed in 1457. The building has been modified since then several times, for instance, in 1707–1715 new bedrooms were constructed, in 1729 the chapel was expanded, and in 1931 the fountain in the yard was demolished. The interior of the church is covered in gold and polychrome. Since 1910, it has been classified as National Monument. It is also classified as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1996.

The Episcopal Palace (Portuguese: Paço Episcopal) is the former residence of the bishops of Porto, in Portugal. The palace is located on a high elevation, near Porto Cathedral, and dominates the skyline of the city. It is part of the historical centre of Porto, designated World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The palace is an important example of late Baroque and Rococo civil architecture in the city.

The Residence of Beco dos Redemoinhos (Portuguese: Casa do Beco dos Redemoinhos), is a 14th-century building situated in the Portugueses civil parish of Cedofeita, Santo Ildefonso, Sé, Miragaia, São Nicolau e Vitória, municipality of Porto.
