Pier 39 is a shopping center and popular tourist attraction built on a pier in San Francisco, California. At Pier 39, there are shops, restaurants, a video arcade, street performances, the Aquarium of the Bay, virtual 3D rides, and views of California sea lions hauled out on docks on Pier 39's marina. A two-story carousel is one of the pier's more dominant features, although it is not directly visible from the street and sits towards the end of the pier. The family-oriented entertainment and presence of marine mammals make this a popular tourist location for families with kids. The pier is located at the edge of the Fisherman's Wharf district and is close to North Beach, Chinatown, and the Embarcadero. The area is easily accessible with the historic F Market streetcars. From the pier one can see Angel Island, Alcatraz Island, the Golden Gate Bridge, and the Bay Bridge. Blue & Gold Fleet's bay cruises leave from Pier 39.

Magowan's Infinite Mirror Maze is a tourist attraction on Pier 39 in San Francisco, California. It is a mirror maze in which people must find their way out, attempting to avoid confusion.

Pier 41 is a ferry terminal on Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco. The former headquarters of Blue & Gold Fleet, their box offices are now located at Pier 39.The Pier is located east of the Fisherman's Wharf district and to the west of Pier 39. The ferry terminal is close to North Beach, Chinatown, and the Embarcadero. The area is easily accessible via the historic F Market streetcars. From Pier 41 you can see Angel Island, Alcatraz, Golden Gate Bridge and Pier 39. There is service to the Oakland Ferry Terminal, Vallejo Station, the Sausalito Ferry Terminal, and the Ayala Cove Ferry Terminal on Angel Island.

Guardians of the Gate is a 1991 Everdur bronze sculpture depicting a family of sea lions by Miles Metzger, located northwest of Pier 39 and adjacent to the Embarcadero Center in San Francisco, California, United States. The sculpture was dedicated on January 22, 1992, and was surveyed by the Smithsonian Institution's Save Outdoor Sculpture! program the same year. It is administered by Pier 39 Limited Partnership Beach Street and the Embarcadero Center.Guardians of the Gate, which depicts a "nuzzling" male and female with a pup, was created in 1990 and cast in 1991. Metzger considers the sculpture one of his favorite pieces. He said of his work: "(My) sculptures mean to inspire, encourage and appreciate humanity and the natural world. The family (of sea lions) seemed such a beautiful, emotional moment." Metzger claims he knew that sea lions would be the subjects of his work upon learning the statue had been commissioned by the pier's owner. In 2012, he said of the sculpture's prominent placement: "I've been told by many people it is (one of the) most photographed pieces of sculpture in the United States. It's so populated in that particular spot. Everybody sees that piece. It's one of those places where you can sit on the sculpture and get your picture taken."

Aquarium of the Bay is a public aquarium located at The Embarcadero and Beach Street, at the edge of Pier 39 in San Francisco, California. The aquarium is focused on local aquatic animals from the San Francisco Bay and neighboring rivers and watersheds as far as the Sierra Mountains. Since 2005 the Aquarium has focused its mission on enabling ocean conservation and climate action both locally and globally. It is one of seven institutions under parent company Bay Ecotarium, the largest watershed conservation organization in the Bay Area The Aquarium of the Bay is a Smithsonian Affiliate, accredited by Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) and certified as a Green Business by the city of San Francisco. It contains over 750,000 gallons of salt water that over 24,000 animals from 200+ species call home. It is the only Smithsonian-affiliated aquarium in the state of California.

The station opened on March 4, 2000, with the streetcar's extension to Fisherman's Wharf.The stop is also served by the route 39 bus, plus the L Owl bus route, which provides service along the F Market & Wharves and L Taraval lines during the late night hours when trains do not operate.

The Pier 43 Ferry Arch is an historic ferry arch at Pier 43 in San Francisco's Fisherman's Wharf, in the U.S. state of California. Its headhouse, a decorated hoisting tower for loading and unloading rail cars on and off ferries, was built in 1914 to serve the Belt Railroad. The wood pier was replaced in 1996. The headhouse was rehabilitated in 2002–2003 to the Secretary of the Interior's Standards after a fire in 1998.

Waterfront Park is a park along San Francisco's Embarcadero, near Pier 39, in the U.S. state of California. The park, established in 1976, is owned by the Port Authority. The park is home to the Skygate sculpture.

Meiggs' Wharf (also known as Meigs Wharf and Meiggs' Pier) was an L-shaped wooden pier extending between 1,600 and 2,000 feet (490 and 610 m) from the northern San Francisco shoreline, an exceptional distance for its time. It was built by transplanted Bostonian Henry Meiggs to attract the lumber shipping trade as part of his real estate development plans for what would become the North Beach area of San Francisco. Though it bankrupted him in the process, it would become a major part of North Beach and San Francisco society life.

The Cobweb Palace was a popular saloon and restaurant at Meiggs Wharf in San Francisco, California during and after the Gold Rush. It was run by eccentric "Old Abe" Warner, who traded drinks for exotic pets, curios, and pieces of scrimshaw as well as money. An old, physically disabled sailor sold peanuts outside. The Palace was popular with seafarers, tourists, and locals alike. Old Abe's menu included free chowder, seafood, alcohol, and local French bread, but not straight whisky, which he thought of as a lesser drink. There was a shooting gallery, and the bar was a few steps below the sidewalk.Mark Twain may have visited the place.

The station opened on March 4, 2000, with the streetcar's extension to Fisherman's Wharf.The stop is located within walking distance of Pier 41, which has ferry service from Golden Gate Ferry, San Francisco Bay Ferry, as well as services targeted at tourists sightseeing and making trips out to Alcatraz Island. The stop is also served by the route 39 bus, plus the L Owl bus route, which provides service along the F Market & Wharves and L Taraval lines during the late night hours when trains do not operate.
