Östermalm (Swedish pronunciation: [œstɛrˈmalm]; "Eastern city-borough") is a 2.56 km2 large district in central Stockholm, Sweden. With 71,802 inhabitants, it is one of the most populous districts in Stockholm. It is an extremely expensive area, having the highest housing prices in Sweden.

The Aviator Monument (Swedish: 'Flygarmonumentet') is a statue that stands at Karlaplan in central Stockholm, Sweden. The statue was a gift from the Swedish Aeronautical Society in memory of different Swedish aviation pioneers who fell in both the North Pole expedition of 1898 and in the Swedish aviator era in 1917. The task to build the monument was given to the famous sculptor Carl Milles. The Aviator Monument was finished in 1931.

Karlaplan metro station is a station on the red line of the Stockholm metro, located at Karlaplan in the district of Östermalm. The station was opened on 2 September 1967 as part of the extension from Östermalmstorg to Ropsten.

Östermalm is a borough (stadsdelsområde) in central Stockholm,Sweden. It is named after the dominating district. Except Östermalm (proper) there are four districts in the borough: Djurgården, Hjorthagen, Ladugårdsgärdet (popularly known as Gärdet), and Norra Djurgården. Note that a portion of northern Östermalm is organized in Norrmalm borough. The population as of 2014 is 70,779 on an area of 18.00 km², which gives a density of 3,932.17/km².

The Swedish History Museum (Swedish: Historiska museet or Statens historiska museum) is a museum located in Stockholm, Sweden, that covers Swedish archaeology and cultural history from the Mesolithic period to present day. Founded in 1866, it operates as a government agency and is tasked with preserving Swedish historical items as well as making knowledge about history available to the public. The origin of the museum is the collections of art and historical objects gathered by Swedish monarchs since the 16th century. It has a number of permanent exhibitions and annually hosts special exhibitions tied to current events.

Stockholms Tekniska Gymnasium (Stockholm Technical Upper Secondary School) is a charter school that is located in the district of Östermalm, close to the Stadion metro station in the Swedish capital of Stockholm. The upper secondary school belongs to Thoren Innovation School (TIS) which in turn is a part of Thorengruppen. Before Thorengruppen acquired TIS in 2012, it belonged to Lernia AB. As of 21 August 2014, there are approximately 250 students that are studying in Stockholm at Thoren Innovation School. The school is situated in Löjtnantsgatan 25.

Östra Real (officially Östra Reals gymnasium) is an upper secondary school in Östermalm, Stockholm, Sweden. The school can trace its ancestry to the 1600s, and has changed name several times throughout its existence. Its current building was completed in 1910, and it has remained there ever since.

The Swedish National Heritage Board (Swedish: Riksantikvarieämbetet; RAÄ) is a Swedish government agency responsible for World Heritage Sites and other national heritage monuments and historical environments. It is governed by the Ministry of Culture.The goals of the agency are to encourage the preservation and protection of historic environments and to promote the respect for and knowledge of historic environments. In order to do this, it tries to ensure that Swedish heritage is accessible to all citizens, to spread information about that heritage, and to "empower heritage as a force in the evolution of a democratic, sustainable society".

Torstenssonsgatan, Östermalm, Stockholm, Sweden, stretches between Strandvägen and Storgatan. The street is crossed by Riddargatan. Torstenssonsgatan is a wide and short avenue (about 200 meter) with linden trees. In the extension of the street is The Museum of National Antiquities (Historiska Museet). The street is a not a through street to Strandvägen.

The Foundation for the Furthering of Music Culture (Swedish: Stiftelsen Musikkulturens Främjande) was established in 1920 by Captain Rudolf Nydahl to manage the collections of musical instruments, manuscripts and other objects related to music that he built up during his lifetime.

Strandvägen is a waterfront on Östermalm in central Stockholm, Sweden. Completed just in time for the Stockholm World's Fair 1897, it quickly became known as one of the most prestigious addresses in town. Stretching 1 km (3.500 ft) east from Nybroplan, Strandvägen is intercepted by (west to east) Arsenalsgatan, Nybrogatan, Sibyllegatan, Artillerigatan, Skeppargatan, Grevgatan, Styrmansgatan, Grev Magnigatan, Torstenssonsgatan, Banérgatan, Narvavägen, Djurgårdsbron, Storgatan, Ulrikagatan, and Oxenstiernsgatan. It has four parallel streets: Almlöfsgatan, Väpnargatan, Kaptensgatan, and Riddargatan. Hamngatan forms a continuation in its western end, as do Djurgårdsbrunnsvägen in its eastern end. The Djurgården heritage tramway passes over Strandvägen. The waters south of the street are named Nybroviken, Ladugårdslandsviken, and Djurgårdsbrunnsviken.
