Karlaplan is an open park-plaza area in Östermalm in central Stockholm, Sweden.

The Aviator Monument (Swedish: 'Flygarmonumentet') is a statue that stands at Karlaplan in central Stockholm, Sweden. The statue was a gift from the Swedish Aeronautical Society in memory of different Swedish aviation pioneers who fell in both the North Pole expedition of 1898 and in the Swedish aviator era in 1917. The task to build the monument was given to the famous sculptor Carl Milles. The Aviator Monument was finished in 1931.

Östermalm (Swedish pronunciation: [œstɛrˈmalm]; "Eastern city-borough") is a 2.56 km2 large district in central Stockholm, Sweden. With 71,802 inhabitants, it is one of the most populous districts in Stockholm. It is an extremely expensive area, having the highest housing prices in Sweden.

Stockholms Tekniska Gymnasium (Stockholm Technical Upper Secondary School) is a charter school that is located in the district of Östermalm, close to the Stadion metro station in the Swedish capital of Stockholm. The upper secondary school belongs to Thoren Innovation School (TIS) which in turn is a part of Thorengruppen. Before Thorengruppen acquired TIS in 2012, it belonged to Lernia AB. As of 21 August 2014, there are approximately 250 students that are studying in Stockholm at Thoren Innovation School. The school is situated in Löjtnantsgatan 25.

Maximteatern, called "Maxim" in English or The Maxim Theatre, has been a popular private theatre at Karlaplan in central Stockholm, Sweden since the 1960s. Originally named the Karlaplansstudion, it was designed as a theatre for film screenings. The house was built in 1945–46 by architect Ernst Grönvall. It was originally used as a studio by Swedish Radio who aired the popular radio shows Karusellen (The Carousel) and Frukostklubben (The Breakfast Club) from there in the 1940s and 1950s. In 1963, The Beatles played their first gig outside of the United Kingdom and Germany there; the performance was included on the Anthology 1 compilation album in 1995. In 1967 the studio was rebuilt into a theatre and movie theatre, but from the 1970s onwards has run exclusively as a theatre. In the 1980s, the Limabrall company took over the management of Maximteatern. Behind Limabrall were Lill Lindfors, Magnus Härenstam, Brasse Brännström and Aller Johansson – all well-known names in the Swedish entertainment industry. Productions such as SPÖK, Omaka par (The Odd Couple), Skål (Cheers) and Arsenik och gamla spetsar (Arsenic and Old Lace) were among the most successful productions in the 1980s and 1990s. Since 2003 the theatre has been run by a company called Proscenia.

Östermalm is a borough (stadsdelsområde) in central Stockholm,Sweden. It is named after the dominating district. Except Östermalm (proper) there are four districts in the borough: Djurgården, Hjorthagen, Ladugårdsgärdet (popularly known as Gärdet), and Norra Djurgården. Note that a portion of northern Östermalm is organized in Norrmalm borough. The population as of 2014 is 70,779 on an area of 18.00 km², which gives a density of 3,932.17/km².

The Swedish History Museum (Swedish: Historiska museet or Statens historiska museum) is a museum located in Stockholm, Sweden, that covers Swedish archaeology and cultural history from the Mesolithic period to present day. Founded in 1866, it operates as a government agency and is tasked with preserving Swedish historical items as well as making knowledge about history available to the public. The origin of the museum is the collections of art and historical objects gathered by Swedish monarchs since the 16th century. It has a number of permanent exhibitions and annually hosts special exhibitions tied to current events.

Östra Real (officially Östra Reals gymnasium) is an upper secondary school in Östermalm, Stockholm, Sweden. The school can trace its ancestry to the 1600s, and has changed name several times throughout its existence. Its current building was completed in 1910, and it has remained there ever since.

The Swedish National Heritage Board (Swedish: Riksantikvarieämbetet; RAÄ) is a Swedish government agency responsible for World Heritage Sites and other national heritage monuments and historical environments. It is governed by the Ministry of Culture.The goals of the agency are to encourage the preservation and protection of historic environments and to promote the respect for and knowledge of historic environments. In order to do this, it tries to ensure that Swedish heritage is accessible to all citizens, to spread information about that heritage, and to "empower heritage as a force in the evolution of a democratic, sustainable society".

Gärdet is a part of Stockholm, east and northeast of Östermalm. Its official name is Ladugårdsgärdet. It is renowned for its large number of modernist apartments. Gärdet is one of the largest residential districts built in Stockholm during the 1930s, built from 1929 until around 1950, and houses about 10,000 people. The district includes a vast open space used for recreational purposes; the name Gärdet ("the field") often refers to this area specifically. During the summer semester, there are several different events on "the field" such as circus, music and sports and more. All the buildings around Tessinparken were built between 1932 and 1937.

Oscar's Church (Swedish: Oscarskyrkan) is one of the major churches in Stockholm, Sweden. The three-aisled hall church, which holds 1,200 people, has an 80-metre-high (260 ft) tower in the south-western part of the building. Oscar's Church is located in the south-eastern part of Östermalm, where Storgatan and Narvavägen meet, near the Swedish History Museum. Narvavägen is together with the nearby Strandvägen—from which the church is also visible—one of the city's main boulevards, lined with several residential palaces.

Oscar Parish (Swedish: Oscars församling) is a parish in Östermalm's church district (kontrakt) in the Diocese of Stockholm, Sweden. The parish is located in Stockholm Municipality in Stockholm County. The parish forms its own pastorship.
