Westerende

Menstede-Coldinne is a district (Ortsteile) of the municipality of Großheide, in the district of Aurich, Lower Saxony, Germany. It mainly consists of the two villages Menstede and Coldinne. Other settlements in the district include Klosterdorf, Kölke, Breitefeld, Blinkheide, Coldinnergaste, Strück, and Westerbrande, together comprising an area of 12.45 km². The district is part of the municipality of Großheide since the 1972 Lower Saxony municipal reform, before that, it formed its own municipality.

Großheide (East Frisian: Grootheid) is a village and a municipality in the district of Aurich, in Lower Saxony, Germany. It is situated approximately 10 km east of Norden, and 15 km northwest of Aurich.

Arle is an East Frisian village in Lower Saxony, Germany. It is an Ortsteil of the municipality of Großheide, in the Aurich district. The formerly independent municipality was incorporated into Großheide with the municipal reform law of 1 July 1972.

Berumbur is a municipality in the district of Aurich, in Lower Saxony, Germany. In 2004, the municipality had approximately 2,400 inhabitants and covers an area of 6.42 square kilometers. The municipality includes the districts Berumbur, Berum, Kleinheide, Holzdorf and Blandorf. There are many fishing lakes, two in Berumbur directly. The most famous lake is a great Kiessee, used for bathing (at one's own risk).

Ostermoordorf is an East Frisian village in Lower Saxony, Germany. It is an Ortsteil of the municipality of Großheide, in the Aurich district. It is located directly to the east of Berumerfehn. Ostermoordorf was founded around 1790 as a peat colony and was first recorded in 1818 as Ostermoorrott. The current name has been documented since 1852. The village in the moor got its name due to its location east of the Berumerfehn canal.

Nesse is a village in Dornum municipality in the East Frisian district of Aurich, in Lower Saxony, Germany. It is situated near the North Sea coast, approx. 2.5 km west of the village of Dornum, and 20 km north of the town of Aurich. As of 2008 the village and surrounding farms had a population of 669.

Hilgenried Bay (German: Hilgenrieder Bucht) is a bay on the German North Sea coast near Hilgenriedersiel, a village in the municipality of Hagermarsch in the Lower Saxon county of Aurich. It was probably formed during the Dunkirk transgression as a result of the washing out of the mouth of one or more small streams, but has now largely silted up. In the 9th century, the village of Nesse emerged as a trading settlement and important port. The region around Hilgenried bay was probably the scene of the so-called Battle of Norditi, in 884, a Frisian army under the command of Archbishop Rimbert of Bremen-Hamburg defeated the Danish Vikings, precipitating the complete withdrawal of Vikings from East Frisia. The bay only needed to be relatively lightly dyked during the High Middle Ages because the local streams only had a very small catchment and did not hinder the reclamation of land greatly. Nesse was cut off from the sea no later than the 13th century and around 1300 the enclosing line of dykes was completed.

Berumerfehn is part of the municipality Großheide in the district of Aurich, in Lower Saxony, Germany.

Neßmersiel belongs to the municipality Dornum in the rural district Aurich in Lower Saxony, Germany. Neßmersiel is located about 5 kilometres northwest of Dornum. From 1867 to 1977, Neßmersiel belonged to Norden (Altkreis Norden). The original port was built about 1570. Grain was shipped to Bremen, Hamburg, the Netherlands and Norway. By 1700, the harbour had to be moved closer to the sea when the original location filled with silt from the dikes. By 1930, the new location was also closed. The ferry to Baltrum was built in 1969/1970. Most coastal tours of the north German sea coast begin here at Neßmersiel. Each year 10 - 12 million migratory birds visit nearby Wattenmeer National Park of Lower Saxony (Nationalpark Niedersächsisches Wattenmeer). The resort village of Neßmersiel lies directly behind the dike and contains mostly holiday homes. There are also restaurants, hotels, cafes, and numerous shops. A playground for children is at the beach. The "Sturmfrei" is new since March 2007. The complex includes a 3D-cinema, wellness center, restaurant, Show- and Sportcourt and a big kidsarea. The "Sturmfrei" is the biggest Funcenter at the German Northseacoast Near Nessmersiel a Bavarian sex comedy was filmed in 1973 ("The East Frisian Report"). You can still find some locations from the movie.

Südcoldinne is an East Frisian village in Lower Saxony, Germany. It is an Ortsteil of the municipality of Großheide, in the Aurich district. The village has belonged to Großheide since the regional and administrative reform of 1 July 1972. Before that, it belonged to the municipality of Menstede-Coldinne, which was incorporated into Großheide. The settlement of Südcoldinne began around 1800 on a pasture area south of today's Coldinner Straße. The village was first referred to as Süder-Coldinne in 1871.

Südarle is an East Frisian village in Lower Saxony, Germany. It is an Ortsteil of the municipality of Großheide, in the Aurich district. The village is located about 3.5 kilometers from the center of the municipality. The village has belonged to the municipality Großheide since the Lower Saxony municipal reform of 1 July 1972. Before that, it belonged to the municipality of Arle, which was incorporated into Großheide as part of the reform. Settlement in Südarle began in 1797 on the Dornumer Moorweg. In 1848, 252 people lived in the peat colony, distributed across 48 houses.

Dornum is a village and a municipality in the East Frisian district of Aurich, in Lower Saxony, Germany. It is situated near the North Sea coast, approx. 15 km east of Norden, and 20 km north of Aurich.
