North Henderson High School is a public high school located in Hendersonville, North Carolina. It is one of four public high schools located in Henderson County. North Henderson was founded in 1993, as the majority of students were moved from the now closed Edneyville High School. North is located adjacent to Apple Valley Middle school which inherited the vast majority of their students from Edneyville Junior High. As of 2016, North Henderson had 1,023 students enrolled and 64 teachers on staff. The school mascot is a Knight, and the school colors are purple and gold.

Piedmont Airlines Flight 22 was a Piedmont Airlines Boeing 727-22 that collided with a twin-engine Cessna 310 on July 19, 1967, over Hendersonville, North Carolina, United States. Both aircraft were destroyed and all passengers and crew were killed, including John T. McNaughton, an advisor to U.S. Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara. The aircraft were both operating under instrument flight rules and were in radio contact with the Asheville control tower, though on different frequencies. The accident investigation was the first of a major scale conducted by the newly created National Transportation Safety Board. A review of the investigation conducted 39 years after the crash upheld the original findings that had placed primary responsibility on the Cessna pilot.

As of the 2016–2017 school year the student population was 905 with 64 classroom teachers. East Henderson High is part of the Henderson County Public Schools district. The school serves students in grades nine through twelve. The mascot is an eagle and the colors are green, white and unofficially, black. The school is located at 150 Eagle Pride Drive in East Flat Rock. It is commonly known as "East" by residents in Hendersonville/Flat Rock and surrounding areas.

The district encompasses 27 contributing buildings and 1 contributing structure in Hendersonville. The district consists of the frame early 20th century depot, a block of original brick street pavement beside it, twenty-seven stores and warehouses, a hotel, and two houses. Notable buildings include the Queen Anne style J.W. Bailey House (c. 1898), Station Hotel (1912–1922), and American Craftsman style Hendersonville Southern Railway Depot (1902-1904).It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.

The district encompasses 37 contributing buildings and 1 contributing structure in a predominantly residential section of Hendersonville developed between 1910 and 1953. It includes notable examples of Colonial Revival and Bungalow / American Craftsman residential architecture.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2009.
