Sturdivant Island

Sunset Point is a promontory in Yarmouth, Maine, United States. It is located 2.65 miles (4.26 km) south of Yarmouth Village and looks out into inner Casco Bay, marking the eastern side of Broad Cove. Sunset Road leads to the point itself. It begins at an intersection with Princes Point Road, Battery Point Lane and Nubbin Reach. In the early 1880s, the adjacent (to the east) Princes Point began to develop as a summer colony. For several years it had become a favorite camping spot for the villagers and the inhabitants of the inland parts of the town who came here for clam bakes and picnics. The town road ended at the John Allen Drinkwater barn, and here a large gate opened into the pasture which included the two points.Around 1884, the first to person to own a lot on at Sunset Point was Samuel O. Carruthers.

Princes Point is a promontory in Yarmouth, Maine, United States. It is located around 2.70 miles (4.35 km) south of Yarmouth Village and looks out into inner Casco Bay. Princes Point Road leads to the point, which is named for shipwright Benjamin Prince, while Princes Point Road is named for his son, Paul Prince. They were both relatives of poet Elizabeth Oakes Smith. The point was part of an estate purchased by the Prince family in 1680.When Yarmouth residents voted to secede from North Yarmouth in the mid-19th century, Princes Point residents were against the plan. As historian Alan M. Hall noted: "Coastal farms, such as the Nicholas Drinkwater homestead on Princes Point [Road], were often perched on more ledges than topsoil, a fact that nudged many Drinkwaters into a life at sea."In the early 1880s, Princes Point began to develop as a summer colony. The Gyger House is a historic home in Cumberland Foreside, Maine, United States. Located at 70 Foreside Road (Maine State Route 88), it contains several eras of construction, with the oldest being mid-to-late 18th century, around fifty years before Cumberland's secession from North Yarmouth occurred. Other sections of the home date to the 1860s and 1920s. The historic section of Foreside Road on which is stands, known as the Sturdivant neighborhood, includes the Ephraim Sturdivant House at 114 Foreside Road (completed in 1810), 77 Foreside Road (1873) and 74 Foreside Road (1850).

Underwood Spring Park was a 19th- and 20th-century pleasure resort overlooking Casco Bay in Falmouth Foreside, Maine, United States. Containing an open-air theater, a casino and a gazebo, it was a popular gathering spot serviced by the trolley cars of the Portland and Yarmouth Electric Railway. The Portland and Yarmouth Electric Railway Company opened the park, located to north of the town landing, on July 18, 1899, to promote the line's service to and from Portland, Maine's largest city, every fifteen minutes. A looped spur off the main line was built the month following the resort's completion to facilitate the ease of passengers' arrivals.The theater, which was managed by Edward A. Newman, burned down in 1907 and was not rebuilt. The park subsequently closed.The Underwood name is still in use in the vicinity, including Underwood Park and the adjacent Underwood Springs Forest Preserve, both on the inland side of State Route 88.

Broad Cove is a prominent cove in Yarmouth, Maine, United States. It is around 1.5 miles (2.4 km) long and around 1 mile (1.6 km) wide at its mouth at inner Casco Bay. It sits between Sunset Point, at the southern end of Yarmouth, and the eastern edge of Cumberland Foreside. State Route 88 (formerly the Atlantic Highway) runs beside the cove (as Foreside Road south of the Yarmouth line and Lafayette Street beyond it).

Casco Terrace is a community in Falmouth, Maine, United States, located on Falmouth Foreside on Casco Bay. Initially a community of summer cottages, it is now a year-round community of residents. Casco Terrace is made up of the following: Broad Street Chestnut Street Casco Terrace Oak Street Ennis Street Rea Street part of Ocean Street.The community has an association called the Casco Terrace Association. Casco Terrace is part of an area that DownEast Magazine has called Maine's Most Prestigious Neighborhood (September 2004). The community has access to the water and a dock and beach, as well as a "Common", "Grove" with picnic tables, and "Point" with chairs and benches facing the anchorage.

Wyman Power Station (known colloquially as CMP) is an oil-fired power station in Yarmouth, Maine, United States. Situated on the town's Cousins Island, the facility was completed in 1957. It is named for William Frizzell Wyman, the former president of Central Maine Power (CMP) and the son of its co-founder, Walter Scott Wyman.The facility has four steam turbine units, the most recent of which, with its 421-foot chimney, went online in 1978.Because it burns costly Number 6 residual fuel, the plant has largely been used as a peaking power plant, fired up only when another big plant goes offline, or when very hot or cold weather spikes the region's demand for energy. With $2 million in annual revenue for the town, it is Yarmouth's largest property taxpayer. In the 1980s, it paid half of the town's tax burden; as of 2012, however, it covered less than 8%.A 16.2 megawatt battery storage capacity was added to the station in 2016.

The Ephraim Sturdivant House (also known as the Janet Low Parker House) is a home in Cumberland Foreside, Maine, United States. Located at 114 Foreside Road, it was built in 1810 as the home of Captain Ephraim Sturdivant, who is credited with naming the town of Cumberland. The home was completed a year after the first of his three marriages. He fathered twenty-one children. Behind the home, on a small hill known as Ephraim's Mount, there once stood twelve pine trees. Known as "the Apostles", they were used for navigational purposes by ship captains arriving into Portland harbor. The last of the trees fell in 1935. The historic section of Foreside Road on which is stands, known as the Sturdivant neighborhood, includes the Gyger House at 70 Foreside Road (dating to the 18th century), 77 Foreside Road (1873) and 74 Foreside Road (1850).

Town Landing Market is a historic building in Falmouth Foreside, Maine. It has been in business, under various names, since 1880. Its original purpose was to cater to the needs of the residents of the summer cottages dotted along Foreside Road, on which it stands at its intersection with Town Landing Road.The market became noted for a sign on its frontage stating that the business sells "fresh native ice cubes." In 1991, the market was featured in a Fourth of July national television commercial for Coca-Cola.In 1907, the building was the home of H. J. Poland, Fruit and Confectioner, while a few years later it became Calden's ice-cream parlor. It was equipped with gas pumps around the same time. It was given its current name in 1940.Tom Randall owned the property between 1952 and 1981. Later owners include Dan Groves (between 1981 and 2015) and MaryBeth Bachman (2015 to 2022). It was purchased in 2022 by Sam and Caitlin Reiche. It is run by Big Tree Hospitality.

Duck Cove is a cove in Cumberland, Maine, United States. It is part of the larger Broad Cove, which sits between Sunset Point, at the southern end of Yarmouth, and the eastern edge of Cumberland Foreside. State Route 88 (formerly the Atlantic Highway) runs beside the cove (as Foreside Road south of the Yarmouth line and Lafayette Street beyond it). Duck Farm, owned by Walter Gendall, a captain in both King Phillip's War and King William's War, incorporated Duck Cove. The dry-stone boundary wall on its western and northern sides is still intact. This land is now partly traversed by a connecting trail system as part of an easement arranged by Chebeague & Cumberland Land Trust with local property owners.

The Norton House Historic District encompasses two properties that formerly constituted the central portion of a suburban country estate in Falmouth, Maine. Located on Foreside Road, overlooking Casco Bay, the landscaped properties include a house and former carriage house designed by John Calvin Stevens and John Howard Stevens in 1912. The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2004.

York Landing is a community in Falmouth, Maine, United States. Located on Casco Bay, around 1,750 feet (530 m) south of Falmouth Town Landing, it is named for Samuel York, a 17th-century settler in the area.The community is located on the eastern side of State Route 88. The Dockside Grill, a popular restaurant which opened in 2013, is situated on York Landing, as is the Handy Boat Marina.
