Döberitz military training area

The Döberitzer Heide is an approximately 5000-hectare area in the Havelland region, part of the southeastern Nauen Plateau. The area mainly consists of the former Döberitz military training area, which has been designated as nature reserves and hosts a wilderness project by The Heinz Sielmann Foundation covering about 3600 hectares, unique in Europe. The heathland is located west of the Berlin city border and south of the Bundesstraße 5 between Dallgow-Döberitz and the district of Seeburg as well as the Wustermark districts of Elstal and Priort. A small part in the southwest lies within Potsdam territory.

Pan Am Flight 708 (PA 708) was a cargo flight that crashed on initial approach less than 10 mi (16 km) west-southwest of its destination airport, Berlin Tegel in Germany, in the early morning hours of November 15, 1966. The flight was operated by a Pan American World Airways (Pan Am) Boeing 727-21, registration N317PA, name Clipper München, routing from Frankfurt Airport. All three crew members perished. The cause was undetermined because US investigators were not allowed to survey the impact site near Dallgow in what was then East Germany, and only half of the aircraft remains were returned by Soviet military authorities in East Germany to their US counterparts in former West Berlin.

On 25 November 2023, a group of right-wing extremists met at the Adlon Mansion on Lake Lehnitz in Potsdam, Germany. At the event, Martin Sellner, an Austrian right-wing extremist presented a plan for the deportation (called "remigration" by Sellner) of certain parts of the German populace, namely asylum seekers, foreigners with a residence permit, and "non-assimilated" German citizens. The meeting was attended by members of the German right-wing populist party AfD, the mainstream centre-right party Christian Democratic Union (CDU), the Werteunion (a German conservative political association), and the far-right Identitarian movement, among others. The meeting was exposed by the investigative journalism organization Correctiv, which published its findings on 10 January 2024.Both the revelations regarding the content of the meeting and the networking between the AfD and other right-wing extremists led to a broad wave of outrage and horror among numerous representatives from German politics, business, and culture; in many German cities, hundreds of thousands of people protested against the plans discussed at the meeting. What followed was a debate about a possible ban of the AfD and party expulsions of members of the CDU that attended the meeting. Some participants of the Potsdam meeting mounted lawsuits against the report, with its main points however remaining unchallenged as of 1 March 2024.

Fahrlander See is a lake at Potsdam, Brandenburg, Germany. At an elevation of 29.4 m, its surface area is 2.105 km². The Sacrow–Paretz Canal flows through the lake.

The Siedlung Neu-Jerusalem (New Jerusalem settlement) is a residential complex along federal route No. 5, here named Heerstraße, in the locality of Staaken, part of Berlin's Borough of Spandau. The Deutsche Gartenstadt Gesellschaft commissioned Erwin Gutkind (in German), who designed between 1923 and 1924 following the style of New Objectivity the plans for the complex, which was completed until 1925.
