Pairis Abbey is a former Cistercian monastery in Orbey in Haut-Rhin, Alsace, northeastern France. The surviving building serves today as a nursing home. The abbey was founded in 1138 by the Count of Eguisheim as a daughter house of Lucelle Abbey. In the 13th century, abbot Martin of Pairis preached the Fourth Crusade and then participated in the misfire of it. After taking active part in the sacking of Constantinople, Martin brought several looted relics from there to Pairis, increasing the status of the monastery considerably. The monk Gunther of Pairis wrote an account of the crusade. The abbey was joined to the Abbey of Maulbronn in 1452, confirmed by the Cistercian general chapter in 1453 and Pope Pius II in 1461. In 1648, Maulbronn was turned over to the Protestant Duchy of Württemberg by the Peace of Westphalia. The Cistercians were forced to leave and they re-established the abbey of Pairis. The abbey was suppressed during the French Revolution.

Labaroche (French pronunciation: [labaʁɔʃ] ; German: Zell) is a commune in the Haut-Rhin department in Grand Est in north-eastern France. It is located in the Vosges mountains at an average altitude of 750 m. There is a post-office, a bank, several hotels, a little super-market, a salon de thé, 2 boulangeries, and a museum, Le Musée des métiers du bois. To the south of the village, on top of a mountain called Petit Hohnack, stands the ruin of a medieval castle.

The Château de Hohenack (also described as Château du Hohenack and Château féodal du Petit Hohnack) is a ruined castle in the commune of Labaroche in the Haut-Rhin département of France. Significant building periods were the last quarter of the 12th century, the 13th, 15th and 16th centuries. In plan view, the edifice is typical of the 12th century, constituting a polygonal curtain wall and a square keep. The castle served both military and administrative functions before being destroyed in 1655 on the orders of the King of France. During the French Revolution, the ruin was sold as national property and, until 1898, it was treated as a quarry. The castle has suffered war damage. The property of the state, it has been listed since 1905 as a monument historique by the French Ministry of Culture.

Château Burrus is a château in Sainte-Croix-aux-Mines, in the department of Haut-Rhin, Alsace, France. It was built in 1900 and has been listed as a historical monument since 1993.

Sainte-Croix-aux-Mines (French pronunciation: ​[sɛ̃t kʁwa o min]; German: Sankt Kreuz im Lebertal; Alsatian: Sànkriz) is a commune in the Haut-Rhin department in Grand Est in north-eastern France. It is part of the arrondissement of Colmar-Ribeauvillé.Coal mines were operating in the village until 1849.

The Taennchel is one of the summits of the Vosges Mountains, rising to 988 metres (3,241 ft). The Taennchel rises at the East of France, in the département of Haut-Rhin (region Alsace), halfway between Strasbourg to the North and Mulhouse to the South, around 60 km (40 mi) from both cities. The general area around the crest, which is 6 km long, is enigmatic. The ground is strewn with rocks and various inscriptions, many of them undeciphered and remaining mysterious. Another curiosity is the "pagan wall" which covers its sides and whose origin is unknown. The summit shelters numerous vegetable and animal species, including the lynx, which was reintroduced to the area during the 20th century.

The Château de Bilstein is a castle ruin in the commune of Riquewihr in the Haut-Rhin département of France.The origin of the castle dates from the 12th century, with additional building work done in the 14th century. The castle was destroyed in 1636. It has been classified since 1898 as a monument historique by the French Ministry of Culture.The ruin is near to that of another castle ruin, Château de Reichenstein, both popular hiking destinations. The ruin of Chateau de Bilstein lies just off GR 5.Château de Bilstein should not be confused with another Château du Bilstein or Bildstein in Urbeis, Bas-Rhin. That château is usually referred to as Chateau du Bilstein Lorrain to avoid confusion.
