The Musée d'Art Contemporain du Val-de-Marne, nicknamed MAC/VAL, is a museum of contemporary art located in the Place de la Libération in Vitry-sur-Seine, Val-de-Marne, a suburb of Paris, France. It is open daily except Mondays; an admission fee is charged. The museum opened in 2005, and is dedicated to works of art from the 1950s to the present. Its building, designed by architect Jacques Ripault, encompasses a total of 13,000 m² floor space (including 2600 m² for permanent exhibitions, 1350 m² for temporary shows, 480 m² for its research center, and 700 m² for storerooms and workshops). It also contains an auditorium and cinema of 150 seats, and is set within 10,000 m² of public garden. Today the museum contains over a thousand works of artists active in France, including Martine Aballéa, Arman, Valérie Belin, Daniel Buren, Claude Closky, Delphine Coindet, Eugène Dodeigne, Erró, Hans Hartung, Pierre Huyghe, Véronique Joumard, Valérie Jouve, Bertrand Lamarche, Julio Le Parc, Annette Messager, François Morellet, Marylène Negro, Orlan, Bruno Perramant, Dominique Petitgand, Françoise Pétrovitch, Philippe Ramette, Judit Reigl, Pierre Soulages, Jean Tinguely, and Jean-Luc Vilmouth.

Vitry-sur-Seine (French pronunciation: ​[vitʁi syʁ sɛn]) is a commune in the southeastern suburbs of Paris, France. It is located 7.5 km (4.7 mi) from the centre of Paris.

Fort d'Ivry was built in the Paris suburb of Ivry-sur-Seine between 1841 and 1845, as one of the forts in a ring of strong points surrounding Paris. The fort is about 1 kilometre outside the Thiers Wall, built by the same program in response to a perception that Paris was vulnerable to invasion and occupation. The fort was upgraded in the 1870s, to cope with improvements in artillery performance as part of the Séré de Rivières system. In 1946, the fort was vacated by the garrison. It is now the home of the Communication and Audiovisual Production Company for the Department of Defense (Établissement de communication et de production audiovisuelle de la Défense, E.C.P.A.D.).

Villejuif–Louis Aragon (French pronunciation: ​[vilʒɥif lwi aʁaɡɔ̃]) is a station of the Paris Métro, located in the commune of Villejuif. The station opened on 28 February 1985 when Line 7 was extended from Le Kremlin-Bicêtre and serves the commune of Villejuif as the southwestern terminus of one of Paris Métro Line 7's branches (the terminus on the other branch is Mairie d'Ivry). The station is named after the Avenue Louis Aragon and Louis Aragon (1897–1982), a French writer. Early plans to extend line 14 from Olympiades to the Orly Airport included the possibility of taking over the existing line 7 branch from Maison Blanche to this station. However, the inclusion of line 14 in the Grand Paris Express project means that the line 14 extension to Orly will only consist of new infrastructure and the plan has been shelved. Line 15 (another Grand Paris Express line) will serve this station from late 2025 onwards (as of August 2021), one year later than originally intended in 2024, with construction having started in 2017. In 2020, the station was used by 4,029,467 passengers amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, making it the 28th busiest of the Métro network, out of 305 stations.

Villejuif–Paul Vaillant-Couturier (French pronunciation: ​[vilʒɥif pɔl vajɑ̃ kutyʁje]) is a station of the Paris Métro, located on Line 7. It serves the commune of Villejuif. It was opened when Line 7 was extended from Le Kremlin-Bicêtre to Villejuif–Louis Aragon on 28 February 1985. It is named after the Avenue Paul Vaillant-Couturier and the former mayor of Villejuif, Paul Vaillant-Couturier (1892–1937) who was a journalist, politician and editor of the Communist newspaper l’Humanité.

Ivry-sur-Seine (French pronunciation: ​[ivʁi syʁ sɛn]) is a commune in the Val-de-Marne department in the southeastern suburbs of Paris, France. It is located 5.3 kilometres (3+1⁄4 mi) from the centre of Paris. Paris's main Asian district, the Quartier Asiatique in the 13th arrondissement, borders the commune and now extends into the northern parts of Ivry. Asian commercial activity, especially Chinese and Vietnamese, has greatly increased in Ivry-sur-Seine during the past two decades. The commune contains one of the highest concentrations of Vietnamese in France, who began settling in the city in the late 1970s after the Vietnam War.Politically, Ivry-sur-Seine has historically demonstrated strong electoral support for the French Communist Party (PCF). Between 1925 and today (except for the period of German occupation in World War II), the office of mayor was held by just four individuals: Georges Marrane, Jacques Laloë, Pierre Gosnat and Philippe Bouyssou, all members of the Communist Party. Ivry-sur-Seine is twinned with Bishop Auckland in County Durham, England.
