Västerort (sometimes translated to West Stockholm) is the western part of Stockholm Municipality in Stockholm County, Sweden. It also forms part of Stockholm urban area and of Stockholm Metropolitan Area. It constitutes the western suburban area within Stockholm's municipal borders. The eastern part of Västerort was incorporated by the City of Stockholm in 1916 and the western part in 1949. Since 2007, Västerort is organized into four stadsdelsområden (sometimes translated to boroughs): Bromma, Hässelby-Vällingby, Rinkeby-Kista, and Spånga-Tensta.Before 2007, it was organized into five boroughs: Bromma borough, Hässelby-Vällingby borough, Kista borough, Rinkeby borough and Spånga-Tensta borough.

Flysta is a part of the congregation Spånga in the westernmost parts of the Stockholm municipality, located just over 10 km from the centre of Stockholm. It is a part of the Spånga-Tensta borough. Despite its location in a predominantly residential suburban area, this community has much of what smaller villages used to have, e.g. a bakery, grocery shops, carpenters, hairdressers located along the main road - Spångavägen. This is a testimony to the fact that it used to be its own village, and a summer residence area at the beginning of the 1900s.

Kyrksjön (Swedish: Church Lake) is a small lake in Bromma, a western suburb in Stockholm, Sweden. Named after its vicinity to the old Bromma Church, the lake was made part of the nature reserve Kyrksjölöten in 1997. Three other lakes are located near Kyrksjön: Judarn, Lillsjön, and Råcksta Träsk.

Islandstorget is a station in the Stockholm metro on the Green line. It is located in the district of Södra Ängby, which is part of the borough of Bromma in the west of the city of Stockholm. The station is above ground with a single island platform. The entrance is from Blackebergsvägen, which passes over the line. On a workday there are some 3,450 passengers who travel from Islandstorget.The site of the station was the western terminus of a line known as the Ängbybanan that ran from Alvik. The Ängbybanan was designed and built for use by the future metro, but was operated from 1944 as part of line 11 of the Stockholm tramway. Islandstorget station was inaugurated as part of the metro on 26 October 1952 with the conversion of the Ängbybanan and its extension to form the metro line between Hötorget and Vällingby.

Råcksta is a district of Västerort, Stockholm, in Hässelby-Vällingby. It is next to the suburbs of Grimsta, Vällingby, Nälsta, Flysta, Beckomberga, Norra Ängby and Blackeberg. It had 4,484 inhabitants in 2005 and is 1.42 km2.

Ängbyplan metro station, formerly known as Färjestadsvägen metro station, is a station on the Green line of the Stockholm metro. It is located in the district of Södra Ängby, which is part of the borough of Bromma in the west of the city of Stockholm. The station is above ground and has a single island platform, with access from the underpass taking Färjestadsvägen under the line. The distance to Slussen is 12.4 km (7.705 miles).The station lies on the route of a line known as the Ängbybanan that formerly linked Alvik and Islandstorget. The Ängbybanan was designed and built for use by the future metro, but was operated from 1944 as part of line 11 of the Stockholm tramway. Ängbyplan station was inaugurated as part of the metro on 26 October 1952 with the conversion of the Ängbybanan and its extension to form the metro line between Hötorget and Vällingby. It was called Färjestadsvägen until 1961.The metro station was decorated with tile in 1994 by Åsa Lindström.

Bromma kyrka is a round church in the borough Bromma in Stockholm, Sweden. The oldest parts of the church were built in the later 12th century as a fortress church, and the church is among Stockholm's oldest buildings. Today it has seven parts: roundhouse, nave, choir, sacristy, grave choir, weaponhouse and crypt.

Bromma socken is a former socken of Sollentuna Hundred in Uppland, Sweden. It became part of City of Stockholm in 1916, and has been part of the municipalities of Stockholm and Sundbyberg since 1971. The socken was about 25.05 square kilometres (9.67 sq mi) in area. In 1903, the population was 2,220, before Sundbybergs köping (pop. 3,031) was included. Ulvsunda Castle, Åkeshov Castle, the Johannelund estate, and Bromma Church were located in the former socken.

Södra Ängby is a residential area blending functionalism with garden city ideals, located in western Stockholm, Sweden, forming part of the Bromma borough. Encompassing more than 500 buildings, it remains the largest coherent functionalistic villa area in Sweden and possibly the world, still well-preserved more than half a century after its construction 1933–40 and protected as a national cultural heritage. The area covers 1.1 square kilometres, and is inhabited by 1,744 people.

Råcksta metro station is a station on the Green line of the Stockholm metro. It is located in the district of Råcksta, which is part of the borough of Hässelby-Vällingby in the west of the city of Stockholm. The station is situated on an embankment and has a single island platform, with access from a lower level station building on Jämtlandsgatan. The distance to Slussen is 14.8 km (9.2 mi).The station was inaugurated on 26 October 1952 as a part of the section of line between Hötorget and Vällingby.As part of Art in the Stockholm metro project, the walls of the ticket hall were decorated with ceramic friezes and hand-glazed tiles by Mia Göransson.The Vällingby metro depot (Vällingby t-banedepå) is located to the west of the station and accessed from the station by a simple junction.

Blackeberg is a suburb of Stockholm built in the 1950s, and is part of the Bromma borough. Blackeberg was originally a croft first mentioned in 1599. The croft was demolished in 1861 by Knut Ljunglöf, who built a house, a stable, a mill and a saw instead. The saw and mill are now both cultural relics and are still standing in Kvarnviken for tourists to see. The city of Stockholm bought Blackeberg in the late 1940s. Three-story apartment blocks and a centre with a cinema and a library were built in the 1950s. Many people moved from the central parts of Stockholm to Blackeberg and neighbouring suburbs. Blackeberg has a metro station. It was designed by Peter Celsing and opened in 1952. The critically acclaimed vampire novel Let the Right One In as well as its movie adaptation are set in Blackeberg.
