Institute for Health and Consumer Protection

The Institute for the Protection and Security of the Citizen (IPSC), located in Ispra, Italy, is one of the seven institutes of the Joint Research Centre (JRC), a Directorate-General of the European Commission (EC). The mission of the IPSC is to "provide research results and support EU policymakers in their efforts to promote global security and protect European citizens from accidents, deliberate attacks, fraud and illegal actions against EU policies".

It shares boundaries with Biandronno, Brebbia, Bregano, Cadrezzate, Comabbio, Ispra, Malgesso, Osmate, Ternate, and the Lago di Monate lake.

Besozzo railway station (Italian: Stazione di Besozzo) is a railway station in the comune of Besozzo, in the Italian region of Lombardy. It is an intermediate stop on the standard gauge Luino–Milan line of Rete Ferroviaria Italiana. The station was also a stop on the Varese–Angera tramway from 1914 to 1940.

Taino (Italian pronunciation: [taˈiːno]) is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Varese in the Italian region Lombardy, located about 50 km northwest of Milan and about 20 km southwest of Varese. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 3,353 and an area of 7.7 km2.The municipality of Taino contains the frazione (subdivision) Cheglio (pronounced [ˈkeʎʎo]). Taino borders the following municipalities: Angera, Sesto Calende.

Osmate was a comune (municipality) in the Province of Varese in the Italian region Lombardy, located about 50 kilometres (31 mi) northwest of Milan and about 13 kilometres (8 mi) southwest of Varese. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 550 and an area of 3.4 square kilometres (1.3 sq mi).In 2019 it merged with the nearby Cadrezzate forming the new municipality of Cadrezzate con Osmate.

Besozzo is a town and municipality located in the province of Varese, in the Lombardy region of northern Italy. Besozzo hosts a small historical centre with churches and noble houses, so-called Palazzi, in its upper part which is in part pedestrian zone, and a vivid modern centre with shops, cafes, banks etc. in its lower part. The village is situated in the region of the lakes, with Lago Maggiore being only 6 kilometres (4 mi) away, and features views of the Alps. Besozzo has a train station on the Luino–Milan railway, and a fast road linking it to the Italian highway system. As many surrounding villages, it has grown considerably and it still doing so, in part because of families moving from Milan to region of lakes and becoming commuters. Besozzo is close to the Ispra site of the European Union's Joint Research Centre.

Sangiano is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Varese in the Italian region Lombardy, located about 60 kilometres (37 mi) northwest of Milan and about 15 kilometres (9 mi) northwest of Varese. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 1,345 and an area of 2.2 square kilometres (0.85 sq mi).Sangiano borders the following municipalities: Besozzo, Caravate, Laveno-Mombello, Leggiuno. In the area of Sangiano there's a limestone rock wall called "falesia del Picuz" prepared for sport climbing with fixed bolts and belays.

Bregano is a frazione (hamlet) of the comune (municipality) of Bardello con Malgesso e Bregano, in the Province of Varese in the Italian region Lombardy. It is located about 60 kilometres (37 mi) northwest of Milan and about 12 kilometres (7 mi) west of Varese. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 750 and an area of 2.3 square kilometres (0.89 sq mi). It had been a comune until 1 January 2023, when it merged with Bardello and Malgesso, and became part the newborn comune of Bardello con Malgesso e Bregano.

Ranco is a comune (municipality) on the shore of Lago Maggiore in the Province of Varese in the Italian region Lombardy, located about 60 kilometres (37 mi) northwest of Milan and about 20 kilometres (12 mi) west of Varese. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 1,188 and an area of 6.3 square kilometres (2.4 sq mi).The village has a Guide Michelin acclaimed restaurant (Il sole di Ranco) and a Transport Museum. The municipality of Ranco contains the frazione (subdivision) Uponne. Ranco borders the following municipalities: Angera, Ispra, Lesa, Meina.
