Newcastle-under-Lyme Rural District was a rural district in the county of Staffordshire. It was abolished in 1974, by virtue of the Local Government Act 1972, when it was absorbed into the Borough of Newcastle-under-Lyme.

Knighton is a hamlet in north west Staffordshire, England, located in the Borough of Newcastle-under-Lyme. It is surrounded to the west, north and east by Shropshire and can only be accessed by vehicle by passing through Shropshire. A public footpath running southwards, across fields, is the only way to access the settlement from the rest of Staffordshire without crossing into Shropshire. The B5026 road runs through Knighton.There is a public house - the White Lion.

Madeley Road railway station is a disused railway station in Staffordshire, England. The Stoke to Market Drayton Line was opened by the North Staffordshire Railway (NSR) in 1870. A station called simply Madeley was opened on the line in the same year. Within a few months; possibly to avoid confusion with the LNWR station that was, at least, on the edge of Madeley; the station was renamed Madeley Manor after the nearby, abandoned house of that name. By August 1871 the name had been changed yet again to Madeley Road.The station had no goods facilities and due to its rural location passenger use was low and in 1931 the London, Midland and Scottish Railway closed the station. An indication of how little usage the station received is shown by the LMS estimate that only £92 per year was saved by closure of the station.The line through the station remained in use until the closure of Silverdale Colliery in 1998.

Woore is a village and civil parish in the north east of Shropshire, England, of about 3,950 acres (1,600 hectares). It had a population of 1,004 in the 2001 Census, rising to 1,069 at the 2011 Census.

Winnington is a hamlet in the civil parish of Loggerheads, in the Newcastle-under-Lyme district, in north west Staffordshire, England, close to the border with Shropshire. Winnington was historically a township in the ancient parish and civil parish of Mucklestone. In 1870-72 the township had a population of 191. It became part of the civil parish of Loggerheads in 1984. Winnington was mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086, when it was held by Leofing.
