Mount Hood (California)

The 40-acre (16 ha) Los Guillicos Preserve lies in the Valley of the Moon at the foot of Hood Mountain in the Mayacamas Mountain Range. Oak woodlands of the Preserve are within the Sonoma Creek Watershed. This land was included in the 1837 Rancho Los Guilicos Mexican Land Grant. Since 2011, the Preserve has been managed by Sonoma State University's Center for Environmental Inquiry.

Bear Creek is a 2.8-mile-long (4.5 km) stream in eastern Sonoma County, California, United States, a tributary of Sonoma Creek.

The William Hood House was built in 1858 by William Hood. Its California Historical Landmark number is 692. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on February 6, 1998.The house was built from bricks that were made on the property. An adobe building, a vineyard and a winery were built with the house, none of which remain. The Knights of Pythias bought the house in 1924, after several different owners including United States Senator mining magnate, railroad and newspaper owner Thomas Kearns. The Los Guilicos School for Girls purchased the land in 1943. A sign posted in November 2008 states that, after restoration, the house would be opened to the public.

Rancho Los Guilicos was a 18,834-acre (76.22 km2) Mexican land grant in present-day Sonoma County, California given in 1837 by Governor Juan B. Alvarado to John (Juan) Wilson. The grant extended along Sonoma Creek, south of Santa Rosa from Santa Rosa Creek south to almost Glen Ellen, and encompassed present day Oakmont, Kenwood and Annadel State Park.

Kenwood is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Sonoma County, California, located on Sonoma Highway (State Route 12) between the cities of Santa Rosa and Sonoma. It lies east of Sonoma Creek in the upper part of Sonoma Valley, a region sometimes called the Valley of the Moon. Bennett Mountain lies west of the town, and Sugarloaf Ridge to the northeast. The population was 1,028 at the 2010 census. Kenwood is considered part of the Wine Country. Viticulturally, it lies in the Sonoma Valley AVA. The Kenwood area is known for vineyards and wineries, restaurants, and a European-style resort. An area landmark is the Kunde Estate Winery on Sonoma Highway, which was first planted in 1879.

Kenwood Depot was a railway station in Kenwood, California. It opened in 1887 as South Los Guilicos, and shares some features with the San Carlos station on the San Francisco Peninsula which was built around the same time. The station building was the only stone depot constructed for the Santa Rosa and Carquinez Railroad and cost $11,500 (equivalent to $374,559 in 2022) — tracks were on the east side. The station's name was changed to Kenwood in 1895 with the rest of the town. Rail service continued until 1936, and the rail line was removed in 1942. In 1940, Southern Pacific sold the depot to the Kenwood Improvement Club for $500 (equivalent to $10,444 in 2022) and it was converted into a community center. It was designated a Sonoma County Historic Landmark in 1980.

Sugarloaf Ridge State Park is a state park in Northern California, United States. Located in the Mayacamas Mountains north of Kenwood, the park straddles the boundary between Sonoma and Napa counties. The park contains the 2,729-foot (832 m) Bald Mountain and the headwaters of Sonoma Creek including a 25-foot (8 m) tall seasonal waterfall. The park is also home to the volunteer-run Robert Ferguson Observatory. Camping, picnicking, horseback riding, mountain biking, stargazing, fishing and hiking are common attractions of Sugarloaf. The park boasts 25 miles of trails with trails ranging from less than a mile to 8.8 miles, and elevation gains reaching 2,500 feet.The ridge has two main peaks, the western one being 1,939 feet (591 m) above sea level and eastern one being 2,265 feet (690 m). The East peak contains an extensive microwave antenna. This site was featured in several articles of the Napa Valley Sentinel. Sugarloaf Ridge was one of the first parks to close under the California State Parks plan to close up to 70 of its 278 parks due to budget cuts. The closures were deemed necessary to achieve an $11 million reduction in the next fiscal year 2011/12, that amount increasing to $22 million in the following fiscal year 2012/13. The park was reopened by Team Sugarloaf in June 2012 to restore access to camping and hiking trails. The park's official address is 2605 Adobe Canyon Road, Kenwood, CA 95452.

The district includes all of Amador, Calaveras, Tuolumne and Mariposa counties, western El Dorado County, and eastern Stanislaus, Madera and Fresno counties. Cities in the district include most of Modesto, northern Turlock, northern Fresno, Oakdale, Hughson, Riverbank, Sonora, Jackson, and Placerville. It also includes the census-designated places of Mariposa, the County seat of Mariposa County, and El Dorado Hills. It also includes Yosemite National Park and part of Kings Canyon National Park. It is represented by Republican Tom McClintock.From 2013 to 2022, the district was located in the northern part of the San Francisco Bay Area, including Santa Rosa, Vallejo, and most of Wine Country. The district was represented by Mike Thompson, a Democrat.

Ledson Marsh is a 30-acre (0.1 km2) freshwater marsh in Annadel State Park east of Santa Rosa in Sonoma County, California, United States. Located on the east flank of Bennett Mountain, it drains into Schultz Creek, a tributary of Yulupa Creek.

Chateau Chevalier, at 3101 Spring Mountain Rd. in St. Helena, California in Napa Valley, was built in 1891. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987.It was built for French immigrant and wine importer Fortune Chevalier. It reflects the "wine boom" era in Napa County, after phylloxera destroyed numerous vineyards in France, Europe.The Chateau Chevalier Wine Cellar, 56 by 79 feet (17 m × 24 m) in plan, is a two-story stone building stepped into the hillside. The listing included a second contributing building, a carriage house.

St. Helena is an American Viticultural Area (AVA) located within Napa Valley, centered in and around the town of St. Helena, California. It was established by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) on October 11, 1995, after the ATF received a petition from Mr. Charles A. Carpy, Chairman of the St. Helena Appellation Committee, proposing to establish a new viticultural area in Napa County to be known as "St. Helena."

White Sulphur Springs was considered the oldest warm mineral springs resort facility in Northern California. It was founded in 1852 in the town of St. Helena in the Napa Valley. Most of the structures at the site were destroyed in 2020 in the Glass Fire.
