In Metra's zone-based fare system, Stewart Ridge is in zone C. As of 2018, Stewart Ridge is the 228th busiest of Metra's 236 non-downtown stations, with an average of 19 weekday boardings.Like many Metra Electric stations, Stewart Ridge is little more than a pre-fabricated shelter on an elevated platform. No parking or bus service is available at this station.

The West Pullman Elementary School is a historic school building at 11941 S. Parnell Avenue in the West Pullman neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. The school was built in 1894 to support the growing neighborhood; while West Pullman was not the most populous neighborhood in need of a new school, its land had been donated to the school district, reducing the school's cost enough for it to be feasible. School board architect W. August Fiedler designed the Romanesque Revival school, which features a red brick exterior, rounded arched windows, and ornamental brickwork. A 1900 addition to the school doubled its capacity; William Bryce Mundie, the architect for the addition, introduced Classical Revival elements such as terra cotta decorations and a bracketed cornice. A third addition in 1923, designed by John C. Christensen, largely matched the design of the original two sections. The school served students in West Pullman until it closed in 2013 as part of a wave of Chicago public school closings.The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places on August 27, 2018.

The Foster House and Stable is a Japanese-influenced house at 12147 South Harvard Avenue in the West Pullman neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois, United States. The house was designed in 1900 by Frank Lloyd Wright as a summer home for Stephen A. Foster, an attorney who worked for real estate developer who helped to build this part of the West Pullman neighborhood. It was designated a Chicago Landmark on May 9, 1996.The Foster House and Stable were designed during an experimental period by Frank Lloyd Wright and have some rare design features including Japanese-influenced upward roof flares at all of the roof peaks and on each dormer. The house and stable also incorporate an extremely rare tumblehome design throughout. The exterior walls slant inward from the base to the top. Since the interior walls are straight, the transition takes place in the exterior windows and doors which are wider at the bottom than they are at the top. The house and stable are unique examples and similar to wooden water tower construction with flared supports for added strength.After being on sale for several years, the home sold for $145,000 in March 2020.

The only other station along the branch that has two tracks is the terminus at Blue Island itself. One parking lot exists on the north side of the tracks along the southbound lane of Halsted Street. Due to its close proximity to the outskirts of Chicago, the station provides bus connections from both the Chicago Transit Authority and Pace suburban bus system. A station typology adopted by the Chicago Plan Commission on October 16, 2014, assigns the West Pullman station a typology of Mixed Residential/Industrial Neighborhood (MRIN). This typology is an area in which the Metra station serves both residential and industrial uses. Like most of the MRIN stations, the does not have access to CTA rail.

West Pullman is a neighborhood located on the far south side of the city of Chicago, Illinois. It is one of the 77 official community areas of Chicago. The Neighborhood of West Pullman was largely inhabited by workers of the Pullman Train Company who were looking to escape the grip of the company town Pullman. The commercial corridor of Kensington/115th Street was one of many Italian communities within Chicago. It is bounded on the north by 115th Street, on the east by the former Illinois Central Railroad, on the south by the Calumet River and Riverdale, on the west by Calumet Park, Blue Island and Ashland Avenue.

Fenger Academy High School is a public 4–year high school located in the Roseland neighborhood on the far south side of Chicago, Illinois, United States. Fenger is a part of the Chicago Public Schools district. The school is named for Danish surgeon Christian Fenger. Fenger opened in 1893. Fenger, along with its former principal Elizabeth Dozier and numerous staff and students was featured prominently in the 2014 CNN documentary series Chicagoland.

The population was 7,025 at the 2020 census.On May 13, 2010, Mayor Joseph DuPar and the Village Board approved renaming 127th Street as Obama Drive, in honor of the 44th President of the United States. On August 21, 2010, State Senator Emil Jones III read a proclamation of the Illinois Senate in honor of the dedication on the same date. This road became the first Obama Drive in the country and the first road named after President Barack Obama in his home state of Illinois.

Street-side parking is also available on the northwest and southwest corners of Ashland Avenue and 124th Street. No bus connections are available at this station.

The Pacesetter Gardens Historic District is a historic district encompassing twelve townhouses along South Lowe Avenue in Riverdale, Illinois. The townhouses were built in 1960 by Harry J. Quinn, a developer who constructed and advocated for multi-family housing. Prior to 1960, Riverdale was mainly a community of single-family homes; Pacesetter Gardens and another nearby development by Quinn diversified the city's housing and made it easier for lower-income residents to live there. Quinn, who was also an architect, designed the buildings, which feature simple exteriors with box bay windows and a horizontal emphasis. Ten of the twelve townhouses have eight units, while the remaining two have four and six respectively. Quinn planned each unit according to minimum house design, a technique popular with housing reformers that emphasized compactness and eliminated less essential rooms such as hallways and dining rooms.The district was added to the National Register of Historic Places on November 16, 2005.
