The Queens University of Charlotte is a private university in Charlotte, North Carolina. It has approximately 2,300 undergraduate and graduate students through the College of Arts and Sciences, the McColl School of Business, the Wayland H. Cato, Jr. School of Education, the James L. Knight School of Communication, and the Andrew Blair College of Health, which features the Presbyterian School of Nursing. Established in 1857, the university offers 34 undergraduate majors and 66 concentrations, and 10 graduate programs. It is affiliated with the Presbyterian Church (USA).

Myers Park is a neighborhood and historic district in Charlotte, North Carolina, United States.Neighborhoods that are near Myers Park include Dilworth and Sedgefield to the west, Eastover to the east, Charlotte center city to the north, and South Park and Foxcroft to the south. The Little Sugar Creek Greenway runs along the western edge of the neighborhood, adjacent to Freedom Park. Though its boundaries originally coincided with the boundaries of the 1,220-acre (4.9 km2) John Spring Myers farm, the neighborhood, by 2008, comprised 2,200 acres (8.9 km2) and had a population of 9,809. Myers Park is bounded by Queens Road to the north, Providence Road to the east, Sharon Road to the south, and Park Road to the west.

Discovery Place Nature, formerly Charlotte Nature Museum, is located at 1658 Sterling Road in Charlotte, North Carolina. The Museum features interactive nature exhibits and live animal displays, including a butterfly pavilion, live species, insects, and a variety of native North Carolina animals. The Museum offers many education programs for schools, parents and the public, and features a summer camp program. Daily programming including puppet shows and hands-on activities provide the opportunity for structured learning and informal play. The museum is located adjacent to the 98-acre Freedom Park and the Little Sugar Creek Greenway. Discovery Place Nature is part of the Discovery Place brand, an organization of museums in North Carolina that also includes Discovery Place Science, a hands-on science museum in uptown Charlotte, and Discovery Place Kids in Huntersville, NC and Rockingham, NC.

Freedom Park is a 98-acre park in Charlotte, North Carolina. Located at 1900 East Boulevard, between Charlotte's historic Dilworth and Myers Park neighborhoods, the park is centered on a 7-acre lake, and is about 3 miles (4.8 km) from the heart of Charlotte's downtown area.The park has paved trails, tennis/volleyball courts, sport/athletic fields and playground equipment. The park contains a 2-8-0 steam engine that is fenced and has safety bars added over the tender, but one can walk into the cab. In earlier years the train was open and kids could climb on top of it and under it. During that time period there were two fire engines with an old-fashioned handle crank in front for the engine. Both fire trucks had the insides and rear hose area open for kids to explore, play and learn. There used to be a F-86 Sabre jet fighter there and an army tank that kids could play on. Free films and musical performances in the park pavilion are featured throughout the summer. Every September Freedom Park is the site of the five-day-long Festival in the Park, which annually attracts over 100,000 visitors, and has been recognized as a Top 20 Event by the Southeast Tourism Society. Adjacent to Freedom Park is the Charlotte Nature Museum, a fun and learning center for young children operated by Discovery Place, which exhibits animals and plants of the Piedmont region.

Wing Haven Garden & Bird Sanctuary is rich in Southern horticulture and a habitat for birds and wildlife. The Elizabeth Lawrence House & Garden is the site of a world-renowned garden writer’s living laboratory. The new SEED Wildlife & Children’s Gardens provide hands-on exploratory learning and a natural habitat for local wildlife. Together, these gardens welcome visitors of all ages to discover and learn. Wing Haven also offers more than 40 programs and special events each year. Operated by the 501(C)(3) Wing Haven Foundation of Charlotte, NC.

Carolinas College of Health Sciences is a non-profit public college focused on the health sciences and is located both online and with a physical campus in Charlotte, North Carolina. The college's roots date back to the 1940s, when Charlotte Memorial Hospital, now Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center (CMC), provided hospital-based nursing and allied health training, forming the roots of Carolinas College. The college is owned by Atrium Health. It offers on-campus and online certificates, associate degrees & bachelor's degrees. The college focuses on educating, engaging and empowering professionals for an evolving healthcare environment. Graduates consistently exceed state and national certification testing benchmarks. The college's current president is Dr. T. Hampton Hopkins.

Elizabeth Lawrence House & Garden is a historic home and garden located at Charlotte, Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. It was built in 1948–1949, and is a small 1+1⁄2-story, five bay, Colonial Revival style frame dwelling. The house is set on landscaped grounds designed and laid out in 1949–1950. It includes paths, beds, and borders. It was the home of Elizabeth Lawrence (1904-1985), American garden writer and the first woman graduate in landscape architecture from (present-day) North Carolina State University.Charlotte-Mecklenburg Historic Landmarks Commission designed the property a historic landmark in 2005 and it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2009.Elizabeth Lawrence moved away from the property in 1984. In 1986, Mary Elizabeth "Lindie" Wilson purchased the property, and immediately started resurrecting the garden, which had fallen into disrepair. Lindie Wilson's incredible stewardship for the next 23 years ensured the survival of a significant number of plants original to Elizabeth Lawrence - most still thrive in the garden to this day. During her ownership, Lindie Wilson engaged the help of many regional and national experts to figure out the best way to preserve the property, out of which was born the Friends of Elizabeth Lawrence. The Friends worked tirelessly to help Lindie place a conservation easement on the property and negotiate the terms of sale of the property to the Wing Haven Foundation in 2008. Today, the Elizabeth Lawrence House & Garden is open to the public as a historic and cultural resource. It is owned and operated by the Wing Haven Foundation, and managed in a partnership with The Garden Conservancy, which holds the conservation easement on the property. The house and garden are part of the Wing Haven Gardens and Bird Sanctuary.

Pharrsdale Historic District, also known as Eastover, is a national historic district located at Charlotte, Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. The district encompasses 166 contributing buildings in the former suburban Pharrsdale neighborhood of Charlotte. It was developed after 1926 and includes notable examples of Colonial Revival and Tudor Revival style architecture.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2002.

Mayes House is a historic home located at Charlotte, Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. It was built about 1902, and is a two-story, Shingle Style frame dwelling. The house has a cross-gambrel slate roof, raised brick basement, projecting bays, and a front porch. It is currently being used as an office building. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1993.

James Buchanan Duke House, also known as Lynnwood and White Oaks, is a historic home located in Charlotte, Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. It was designed by architect Charles Christian Hook, with the original section built in 1914 and substantially enlarged in 1919. It is an "H"-shaped Colonial Revival style dwelling consisting of large 2+1⁄2-story blocks connected by a hyphen of the same height. It features two-story tetrastyle porticos on both the south and north gable ends. It was the home of James Buchanan Duke (1856–1925) during the last five years of his life.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.

Orient Manufacturing Company-Chadwick-Hoskins No. 3, also known as Alpha-Orient Cotton Mill, is a historic cotton mill located at Charlotte, Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. It was built in 1901–1902, and is a two-story, Romanesque Revival style brick building. It incorporates portions of an original mill building built about 1889. The building has a low, front gable roof with exposed rafters, brick exterior walls, and segmental arched windows. It features a three-story staircase tower with a castellated parapet, tall, narrow windows, and a round arched entrance.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2006. The building had been converted into an apartment complex named Alpha Mill Apartments.

Levine Children's Hospital is a 234-bed pediatric hospital located on the campus of Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, North Carolina. Operated by Atrium Health, hospital opened its doors in October 2007. It is named after Leon Levine. The hospital has a Pediatric Cardiovascular ICU that can serve up to 4 open heart surgeries a day. The 20 bed unit is shared with a 10-bed Pediatric ICU. The PICU can overflow to 14 beds for additional patient care. Levine Children's Hospital has its own emergency department that can handle simple bumps and bruises to asthma attacks to pediatric traumas. Levine Children's Hospital also has a café, The X-Ray Café, and a gift shop on the main floor. An outdoor dining area is also available with a nice relaxing view for families, patients, and staff. Each floor of the hospital has its own theme and a relaxation room for families with free coffee and High Definition TV. The Carolina Panthers and Charlotte Knights visit the children often, as do celebrities when in town.
