The Museum of Modern Mythology was a museum of pop culture brands located in San Francisco, California. The museum opened in 1982, and closed in 1989 after its building was damaged beyond repair in the Loma Prieta earthquake.

The Museum of the African Diaspora (MoAD) is a contemporary art museum in San Francisco, California. MoAD holds exhibitions and presents artists exclusively of the African diaspora, one of only a few museums of its kind in the United States. Located at 685 Mission St. adjacent to the St. Regis Hotel in the Yerba Buena Arts District, MoAD is a nonprofit organization as well as a Smithsonian Affiliate. Prior to 2014, MoAD educated visitors on the history, culture, and art of the African diaspora through permanent and rotating exhibitions. After a six-month refurbishment in 2014 to expand the gallery spaces, the museum reopened and transitioned into presenting exclusively fine arts exhibitions. MoAD does not have a permanent collection and instead works directly with artists or independent curators when developing exhibitions.

The St. Regis Museum Tower, is a hotel and residential skyscraper that is located South of Market just outside the Financial District on the corner of Mission Street and Third Street in San Francisco. On the first three floors of the tower is the Museum of the African Diaspora.

The Paramount, or 680 Mission Street at Third, is a 40-story rental-apartment tower that is located South of Market just outside the Financial District on Mission Street in San Francisco.

The California Historical Society (CHS) is the official historical society of California. It was founded in 1871, by a group of prominent Californian intellectuals at Santa Clara University. It was officially designated as the Californian state historical society in 1979. Its headquarters are in San Francisco, though it hosts exhibits and collections across California.

The Palace Hotel Residential Tower was a residential skyscraper proposed in 2006, which was to have been built at the corner of Jessie & Annie Streets in the South of Market district of San Francisco, California. At 204 m (669 ft) and 60 stories, it would have been the tallest residential building in the city, and the tallest South of Market. Had it been constructed, prior to the Financial crisis of 2007–2008, the tower would have replaced an annex of the Palace Hotel. The project would have been limited by zoning laws released by the San Francisco Planning Department on May 1, 2008, permitting a maximum height of 400 ft (120 m). However, in 2012, the height limit was raised to 600 feet (180 m) as part of the broader Transit Center District Plan that raised building heights in the area.

SPUR is a non-profit think tank focused on regional planning and public policy in the San Francisco Bay Area. It is formally known as the San Francisco Bay Area Planning and Urban Research Association.

The Cartoon Art Museum (CAM) is a California art museum that specializes in the art of comics and cartoons. It is the only museum in the Western United States dedicated to the preservation and exhibition of all forms of cartoon art. The permanent collection features some 7,000 pieces as of 2015, including original animation cels, comic book pages and sculptures.Until September 2015, the museum was located in the Yerba Buena Gardens cultural district of San Francisco, in the South of Market neighborhood. It reopened in October 2017, in a new location in the Fisherman's Wharf area of San Francisco.

The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA) is a modern and contemporary art museum located in San Francisco, California. A nonprofit organization, SFMOMA holds an internationally recognized collection of modern and contemporary art, and was the first museum on the West Coast devoted solely to 20th-century art. The museum's current collection includes over 33,000 works of painting, sculpture, photography, architecture, design, and media arts, and moving into the 21st century. The collection is displayed in 170,000 square feet (16,000 m2) of exhibition space, making the museum one of the largest in the United States overall, and one of the largest in the world for modern and contemporary art.Founded in 1935 in the War Memorial Building, the museum opened in its Mario Botta designed home in the SoMa district in 1995. SFMOMA reopened on May 14, 2016, following a major three-year-long expansion project by Snøhetta architects. The expansion more than doubles the museum's gallery spaces and provides almost six times as much public space as the previous building, allowing SFMOMA to showcase an expanded collection along with the Doris and Donald Fisher Collection of contemporary art.

Yerba Buena Center for the Arts (YBCA) is a multi-disciplinary contemporary arts center in San Francisco, California, United States. Located in Yerba Buena Gardens, YBCA features visual art, performance, and film/video that celebrates local, national, and international artists and the Bay Area's diverse communities. YBCA programs year-round in two landmark buildings—the Galleries and Forum by Japanese architect Fumihiko Maki and the adjacent Theater by American architect James Stewart Polshek and Todd Schliemann. Betti-Sue Hertz served as Curator from 2008 through 2015.

Four Seasons Private Residences at 706 Mission Street, San Francisco (formerly named 706 Mission Street) is a 43-story, 510 ft (160 m) residential skyscraper under construction in the South of Market district of San Francisco, California. Located across the street from Yerba Buena Gardens and Moscone Center, the tower site is bounded by Mission Street on the south and 3rd Street on the east, and will incorporate the historic Aronson Building in its design. The tower will contain up to 190 condominiums on the upper floors and a permanent home for the Mexican Museum on the bottom four floors.

The Montgomery is a residential highrise located at 74 New Montgomery Street in San Francisco, California. The building was designed by the Reid Brothers architects in 1914 and served as headquarters and the offices of the newspaper The San Francisco Call after its building, The Call Building, was damaged in the great fire. The site was selected for its central location, which quickly became a regional media hub during that time period. From 1914 to 1950 The Montgomery was home to The San Francisco Call and at times the offices of rival publications as well. From 1950 until 2005 the building continued to be utilized as premium commercial office space. In 2005, a team of developers took over the project, close to the Civic Center, the Financial District and Union Square, and converted it into a luxury residential building. Today there are 107 new residences at 74 New Montgomery. The new developers installed new electrical wiring (including CAT 5), new windows designed to preserve the classic aesthetics, and a seismic retrofit to the foundation.
